I am a first time buyer, so I have never worked with a home inspector before. It seemed a bit intimidating at first. There is a lot of money on the line, so I didn't want to go with the first guy my agent recommended. He replied within minutes with a very helpful, courteous, professional, personalized response. It was a long holiday weekend, and I only had a small window of time to have the house inspected before my option period expired, so I was very happy that Scott was able to make arrangements for Nathan to inspect the home and get everything back to me in time to review it with my agent and the seller. All online and phone communications were friendly, helpful, professional and timely. I am very pleased with communication. Scott really put me at ease by reassuring me that they would not miss the appointment or reschedule (which would put my contract at risk). Nathan met me at the property on time and was very professional, courteous, and helpful. He paid great attention to detail, and showed me everything. He answered my questions very well and offered some really great advice on how to deal with the faults he uncovered. He even offered to give me his muffin when I mentioned I hadn't had breakfast yet. He asked many times if I had any questions, and he answered my questions with enthusiasm and clarity. I watched him perform all of his tests, take pictures, make notes, and do the free thermal imaging scan. I learned a lot and feel very confident that the job was done right. Thanks to Nathan, I now feel well-aquainted with the property, appliances, plumbing, insulation, electricity, etc. The only part I didn't personally witness was the roof inspection, but I could hear him walking all over up there, and he took really good pictures of problem areas. Nathan knew I had a tight deadline, so he got the report to me within 2 hours of the inspection. The report is very thorough, professional and concise. I already understood everything in the report because he explained it to me as we went. The whole inspection took about 4 hours. I paid $350 with the Yelp coupon. I feel like I got more than my money's worth. The thermal scan is not just a *bonus*. It seemed to me to be an invaluable tool. I think it should be standard for all inspections, but it's not. I'm really glad it was included for free. I was able to pay using my credit card, via Square, which was convenient and easy. If you don't want to be present for the actual inspection, I feel confident that they will not cut any corners. If you really want to get to know the house, take advantage of the learning opportunity and tag along. I read the reviews of other inspectors who do not allow clients to accompany them during the inspection. For me, that was a red flag, and is a missed opportunity for both the client and inspector. I learned a lot and it didn't seem to bother Nathan at all that I was watching everything and asking questions along the way. I feel very confident that I chose the right company for the job. It all started when I received a phone call at 12:51 pm from Nate, stating that he would be running a little late for our appointment. My first thought was the appointment is not until 3:00 pm. I'm not sure how an inspector could do a better job than Nathan did for me. I've used highly rated inspectors before, but this was flat out the best I've experienced. Very friendly (very), open to questions throughout the process, thorough, helpful with ideas, and typical work arounds he's seen to various problems in the house... After that they weren't really problems any more! Great. Moreover, he came back the next day to finish the inspection because the seller left the electric box locked and he sent a second report that afternoon. I was looking for a local inspector to go over a newly built home I purchased last year, just before my 1-year builder warranty expired. I contacted HouseCheck on a Friday afternoon and they were able to fit me in on such short notice for a Saturday morning inspection. Chance showed up, as scheduled, at 8:30am ON THE DOT...punctuality has become so rare these days. He went over most of the exterior before it started drizzling outside, obviously out of his control. He then started on the interior, hoping the rain would stop and the sun would dry off the roof enough so he could safely get up there. He took his time and went through the interior; electrical, plumbing, walls, insulation, HVAC, etc. Luckily, the rain DID stop and he was able to get up on the roof to make note of a few shingles that needed replacing, as well as a stopped up 2nd floor rain gutter. Chance was very thorough, and most of the things he pointed out to us, we were pretty oblivious to. Some of these things were essentials when it comes to avoiding bigger and costlier problems in the future, so I'm definitely glad I had this inspection done before the warranty expired. Chance had the full report out to me via email the following Monday. Their online system is also very convenient for signing the inspection agreement and paying via credit card. If I ever need an inspection again in the future, I'll definitely continue doing business with HouseCheck! read more

This guy knows his stuff and I mean really knows his stuff. It was like having plumbing, electrical and HVAC experts all wrapped up into one person. His presentation was amazing. He genuinely cared about making sure we got the best inspection possible by scouring every inch of the house. His 3D imaging device was able to capture leaking air around our air handler and other inefficiencies with our HVAC system. He went through the house room by room with us explaining in great detail his findings and how to repair them. He literally blew us away. He even did a foundation exam to ensure that our foundation was settling properly. Other inspection places, charged extra or didn't even provide that as an option.
