Matt and team were so incredibly professional, courteous, and thorough that there is, in my opinion, no reason to go anywhere else ever. These guys explained everything that I wanted an explanation for (and some things I didn't know I wanted an explanation for), answered questions, and were fair in pricing. First, I would like to say we used the HouseMaster in Newberry, FL and had a home inspection done. Inspection was done by Jeff who did an outstanding job! Based upon that, we scheduled a Wind Mitigation inspection with staff and stated specifically that we wanted it done the first week of the following month. Received email several days latter wanting payment for the WM inspection which had already been completed?! They totally disregarded our timeframe request. Expressed we were unhappy about this and copied owner. Response? Crickets. We feel this very unprofessional. ****Update****One of the things we specifically asked Housemasters to do was thoroughly check for wood rot. Well, we now have discovered a large portion of our house has wood rot. Found the inspector did not even use a water meter?! Housemasters response? Sorry - your 90 day warranty is up (we did not even own the home when inspected!) and we will not help you. read more

HouseMaster is a rip-off! They charge $135 to check your water for bacteria. You can get your water tested for bacteria with the county for$25.With HouseMaster you don't get what you pay for, you just pay a lot more for what you get! They charged me $75 to check my well. Basically, that amounted to them looking at it and telling me that it's working. Don't waste your money. 90% of what they do is visual and you can do it yourself! Save yourself HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS and look around for a comparable inspector. When they make a mistake (and they do), they will not admit it or correct it!! Stay away. read more

Our inspector, Matt Peck, missed a lot of obvious woodrot. He did not check the corners of the house where rainwater accumulates, he did not go behind areas with bushes, and he did not touch any wood that looked swollen or had scaling paint. As a result, we have had to spend about $3000 on repairs for areas he missed. When I brought these oversights to their attention, they said their 90 day guarantee had expired and denied any responsibility. Basically, these guys dont stand by their work and their reports should not give you peace of mind when buying a home. If you are considering a home inspector, here are two pieces of advice: 1. Pay someone to do a really thorough inspection, even if they charge a lot more than a competitor. You could also hire a general contractor to walk around the property after the home inspector has finished. This costs more upfront but will save money in the long run. 2. Get repairs done ASAP. Housemaster and other inspectors have virtually no responsibility for their work after 90 days, so get repairs done within that window. read more

Our realtor recommended HouseMaster and they did an excellent job--had a team of 3 men checking everything out for our home inspection. The supervisor even came back a few days later for free as the seller claimed some deficiencies were already taken care of (things that were broken that couldn't be inspected). We are paying them for one more visit in a couple of weeks or so to inspect the other repairs made by the sellers. They also have a free concierge service which we will use to set up gas, water and electric. Received a very thorough report with photos and video and encouraged us as the future homeowners to walk with them through the inspection process. read more

Matt Peck signed my home inspection report, but never came to the property himself. His assistant did the inspection and repeatedly commented on how unusual it was he was on his own that day. I was in the attic to install a ceiling fan brace when I noticed the sagging roof with significant water damage below. The contractor I had out to bid the repair job advised me that it has been there for years and this absolutely should have been an item in the inspection report. It was not. Matt Peck never bothered to call. I was finally referred to the office manager who told got on the phone and told me "This is how it is..." She went on to explain that with all their loopholes in the terminology, they effectively absolve themselves of any liability whatsoever. No one will even come to look at it. The report was signed by Matt Peck whom I have never met. Surely you can do better. Matt, if you sign it is probably a good idea to have done the inspection yourself or at least "stop by."
