Do not get yourself into anything with them. They will take your money and then do nothing for you as a renter. 1) Why do they charge $299 to renew your lease, on top of paying a $20 monthly fee just to pay for your rent? 2) This place has lots of ants, mold, mouse, centipedes, and spiders so if you watch extra neighbors in your home this is the place. 3) The maintenance guy comes to check on the building, but never vacuums or cleans. There's dog hair, and leaves everywhere on the carpet. 4) Leaves, and snow will never be raked/shoveled. 5) The rules for the apartment is to not smoke weed/cigarets indoors, and we have neighbors that do do that. The worst tenant experience Ive every experienced or heard about. I have a pregnant fiancé and our building has been broken into over 7 times in the month of may. There are homeless doing drugs outside out building every night because our courtyard is private off the street so they can rest and use out water hoses for water. We've had police here frequently and have tried to request a safer location in one of their other locations to satisfy our lease agreement but were denied and they are denying us lawful termination for domestic crime from the break ins under 504b. I came face to face with the people breaking in as they were fleeing and they just shoved me out of the way. We have to go through legal council to communicate with them because they dont reply to most of our messages. The building says no smoking or drug use but constantly smells like weed my pregnant fiance has to breath when coming and going. If I lose my first child over this predatory company who exploit low income housing laws, I will be sure to hold them accountable legally. read more

I'd give 0 stars if I could. They charge $20 extra dollars every month only to accept the payment of your rent. They've done literally nothing for us so why do we have to pay their fees? I want to start of this review by saying that most of my issues are related to one employee in Housing Hub named Melanie. Maintenace is a highlight of Housing Hub. They are always prompt and courteous. Unfortunately, all their hard work is diminished by the office. I will reference 3 egregious situations in this review 1) When we first moved in, we were told that we would be receiving keys to both the front and back entrance of our unit as well as new windows. This did not happen for a month. We were constantly ignored, and our requests were denied. The windows were broken which raised the electricity bill and we did not have access to the back door entrance. The key to the back door was different from the key to the front door. They told us we needed to talk to the neighbors in the other unit to receive a key. They also told us that the windows would remain as they are We had to contact attorney general Kieth Ellingson to have those troubles addressed. Again, the person who came to fix everything was a delight and finished the job in a week. I want to state here that when I called about this situation for the final time before I would reach out to the MN Attorney General I was heated. I began the conversation courteously but firm. I was spoken to as if I was dumb and unreasonable. My tone became sharper as I was faced with blatant lies from the person I was speaking with (they told me they did not manage the building I was living in, their name and number was on a big sign above my door) but I never cursed or raised my voice. Eventually the office employee hung up on me while I was speaking. Thankfully the Office of the Minnesota Attorney General spoke on our behalf and that situation was resolved. 2)During the entirety of the lease duration we could not reach a single person in the office. I assumed this was due to my tense call. Yet they did not answer no matter which phone we called from. Once you are a Tennant it is almost impossible to reach anyone in the office. If you want to schedule a tour, they are readily available. If you want to ask for help with the Housing Hub Portal or anything else to make your lease term bearable, they are nowhere to be found 3) In May 2024 my roommate let them know that we would not be renewing the lease. This is one of the few times we could get an actual human on the phone. We requested a form to get the process started. Housing Hub requests a 60-day notice to vacate. This is completely reasonable. They require the notice in the form of a "Notice to Vacate Form" they send. My lease ends on 7/31/24. They did not send the notice to Vacate Form until 6/07/24. Please note that this is 7 days after the minimum date that we would have been able to sign. when I saw the form, I was upset but didn't think much of it. I spent the next few weeks having issue with their portal. Again, I tried to call about it, but no one would answer. Eventually I was able to figure out the technical issue myself and signed on 6/22. They have now let me know that they are charging me an extra $1500 for the month of august because I did not sign in time. I could have never signed in time because they chose to send it after the 60 day minimum. I have never experienced such slimy business practices. I know we all make mistakes, but using those mistakes to siphon money out of honest hard-working people is a terrible business practice. Housing Hub is one of the most reported Leasing companies in the state of MN. I do not know if the owner is aware of the attitudes and practices going on in their company, but I hope not. I called, texted, and submitted in the portal that I had an emergency work order because a fuse in my kitchen went out and shut off my fridge. No one came out for 5 days. Everything in my fridge and freezer (which were both full) went bad. I called multiple times and spoke to maintenance receptionists as well as the office and anyone who would answer and it still wasn't fixed. The heat is also out constantly in multiple of their properties. According to someone in the office, they have been getting 40+ emergency work orders a week. Only issue was that the tenant left because there was water in the basement for the first time in 20 years. It's important that the inability of this company to do the right thing be shown. Below is what I filed with the BBB, it is a brief overview of my situation so far, along with some pics, again, please tag and share with everyone you know. May 22nd, 2022, suppose to meet with agent for walkthrough and get keys for May 24th move in new apt, she never called. I called on the 23rd, said she would meet me later that night for walkthrough and key exchange, she called later and said her assistant would be doing it, I got there, he was at the end of the drive, gave me the keys and left. I went up to the unit and opened the door, and this overwhelming stench of cigarettes hit me. This is what I found 12 hours prior to move in: bleach stains on carpet, hood over stove caked all over in solidified grease, filter full of grease, kitchen sink was used as an ashtray, the strainer was burnt from the cigarettes being put out or down that sink, faucet leaking, mouse droppings on cutting board, bugs in tub and toilet, sinks, tub, toilet unclean, sink separating from bathroom wall, medicine cabinet filthy along with gross material around fan. Low water pressure in shower, tub faucet leaking, blinds filthy, some are broke, hole in bedroom floor next to wall, fist size hole in bedroom door. Absolutely nothing was cleaned, they swore it was deep cleaned. Told the agent, who never once set foot in this unit yet rented it out to me, she said she would have cleaning crew next morning, they got the bugs gone, cleaned 2/3 the grease under hood, they didn't clean anything else. That was Tuesday 24th move in. No one called or showed up to start to fix anything. Friday 27th I called, they took my complaints, said to they would address issues and let the bosses know. Maintenance did walkthrough that day. Not heard or seen anyone by Tues the 31st, called and left message that I would be contacting the BBB and social media if things not addressed immed, now 6/1/22, have not heard anything, and no one shown up to fix anything. Smoke smell will never go away, the answer is so simple and easy, and they just can't seem to grasp it, move me into a different unit, and it's all taken care of, no complaints, no letters, but we're talking about a company whose CEO's think there better than everyone, that they don't even give out their emails, now I see why. People need to speak up, their are so many that complain to the company, but don't know what resources they have outside the company. Take move in pictures and video of everything, document conversations, attempts to contact them, number of times they don't return the calls. If you need a repair, document it, they will unfairly charge you for what ever happened, document it, if you didn't break it and they charge you for it, don't pay it. Call the Better Business Bureau of St Paul if you have issues with cleanliness or things that need to be fixed on move in, they don't respond to your phone calls, or your maintenance calls in a appropriate time frame, if they charge you for a repair that wasn't your fault, if they don't immediately come and fix dangerous safety issues. You can use social media to state your case, use a city inspector, call the attorney general, all these will help in some way. read more

Two hours after moving in, my dog broke out into hives and had to be rushed to the animal hospital as his face broke out so bad it was bleeding. First round of antibiotics were administered on move-in day. A friend of mine also broke out into hives covering her whole body and has not been over since. A few days after that, I noticed a few leaks in my unit. I put in a maintenance request right away. They claimed they fixed the issue. A few weeks after that I put in another request because the pipes were still leaking. Over six months went by and just now did they actually fix the plumbing issues. My dog had to endure four rounds of antibiotics, steroids, daily baths, benadryl, prescription allergy relievers, air purifier, humidifier, and so much more since moving in. None of these issues were prevalent at any other properties. All of this happened within FOUR months of living there. My vet told me it could be due to mold. I took a home mold test and the results were shocking, potentially fatal. I sent an email requesting that a mold removal company come out to clear the mold from the whole house. However, they sent a cleaning crew to look at my unit only when they said they would look at the whole property. They claimed that Consolidated Land LLC, property owner, would not be paying for anyone else to look at the unit and any further action would be paid for by me. There is plenty more to this story, but at the end of the day they have not taken care of the issue. They also made claims that they would put new carpet in the common areas, our lawn and snow removal would be done promptly, our heat would be covered by the property owner, we would get a dryer in the building, they would give notice before anyone entered the unit, none of which has happened. They will push you off until the very last moment before any action will be done on their part. They do not want to spend any extra money to make their units healthy and safe for their tenants. read more

This company is horrible. They took over our property and wanted to charge $200 to make any changes to a lease. We called them to repair a broken outlet, they came out, broke the outlet even more, left it hanging out of the wall with all the screws stripped and drywall crumbled all over the floor, then left it and signed off that the job was done. They also told us we needed to re-sign our lease 60 days before the end of our current lease, and we are now less than a week away from our lease ending and still haven't received it. I've called 8+ times over the last 2 months asking for the lease and they keep saying they're working on it. Would definitely not recommend. read more

Never Rent from Housing Hub. Horrible. There are literally so many things wrong I don't know where to begin and it's been less than a full year. I moved into my unit on 06/01/2020, it was an emergency move to be closer to my job at the Minnesota Unemployment Department during a pandemic. Upon moving into my unit I immediately reported problems to the leasing agent, Katie. She did not inform me how to request maintenance. So the cracked windows and old heaters went without being addressed.. A copy of my lease was not made available to me until 04/01/2021 after months of requesting it from multiple people at the Housing Hub Office- this is common, when you rent from HH you do not have a direct contact person so no one ever takes accountability for anything. I was calling so often I eventually learned most of the staff's names, all of whom were "too busy" "On vacation" or couldn't find my documents, there were multiple times I was hung up on or transferred to a voicemail never to hear back from anyone. I work for the unemployment department two blocks away from Housing Hub Headquarters so the "We're too busy" doesn't exactly work on me. I even had advocates call them to verify it wasn't just me. They would get the same treatment. The building I lived in was next to multiple buildings managed by Housing Hub. All of them are in terrible shape. Poor insulation. Old heating units. Slanted and rotting floors. Slow drains. Leaks.The turnover in my building is insanely high, besides one senior tenant who has lived there here for 13 years (who is on a housing program, has heat paid for and is on rental assistance) She still tries to warn people not to move in. No one has stayed in this building past 2 years, I know that because of her. It's too cold. Utilities are too expensive. It all feels like a death trap. And in the process of finding out how horrible your living situation is, Housing Hub does all they can to squeeze you and wear you down. Housing Hub is diabolical at communication, even when maintenance requests are made through the proper channel. You will not hear from them if you have a problem. If they have a problem they are going to harass you. The maintenance team openly complained about their management all the time. I was charged $106 for a slow drain and refrigerator lightbulb. The maintenance guys were the only ones who ever got anything done in my home or attempted to. I reached out to the City of St. Paul multiple times and I have written several formal letters of complaint. The leasing agent lied about utility costs at move-in."About $100 in the winter months for electric, Closer to $250-$300 a month I found out from other tenants this was normal for them to lie.) My baseboard heating system was so old I did not have sufficient heat October- February, but still paid extreme prices. I got smart about zone heating and did have to buy a pretty pricey space heater- the wind would still blow through the windows and the plastic and the drapes during the winter. Even with all I tried to do to heat the unit was so poorly insulated that frost would gather on the inside of walls, pipes would freeze, and my body would literally hurt from being so cold. I experienced substandard heat November-February. It was so cold in the unit I could not sleep there for 8 days in February I found out later that the woman that lived above me also could not sleep in her apartment because it was so cold. It was an extreme winter. I eventually had the fire marshall come out when frost was on the inside of my bedroom walls. However By the time the fire marshall came for an inspection, Housing Hub had updated the baseboard heaters- it took me until February of 2021 to get my home to 68 degrees! I had insufficient heat October- February. They replaced the heaters just in time for the fire marshal to arrive. Even on his tour I still had frost on the inside of the house, but because the unit could be kept at 68 degrees he did not cite them. He told me that it was a difficult situation, but that he had no jurisdiction over the insulation problem. I felt totally defeated. I wish I had known the laws better in November, I wish I had a thermostat- one of the maintenance guys actually bought me a thermometer, he told me his boss yelled at him for that, you'd think getting heat would be easy, but the pandemic and the continual bullying or being ignored left me feeling pretty powerless. If I had known that cities have temp restrictions I would have gotten a lot done faster. No poor person wants to fight a slimy rental agency. It has truly been a nightmare. Not only did I suffer from insufficient heating and poor insulation. But the floors are so slanted that it caused me health problems and also ruined some of my furniture. This company truly does not care for their tenants in all regards. I Had to put in two complaints to the city in order to get them to shovel. They do absolute bare minimum on everything that is their job in general. Not to mention the hidden fees they have included in rent such as services called "Trash Nanny". 2 ditches have been left in the ground from moving things outside in the summer they never took care of. Also not a single soul has come to clean the common-ways since they took over my building. Also the building is only halfway carpeted. What am I paying for? They never shovelled I had to put in 2 complaints to the city until they started doing their job. They also tried to tell us they would charge tenants if the city fined us for improper garbage disposal, even though they have been charging all tenants $25 a month for "trash nanny" a garbage service. No one has ever seen a trash nanny person step foot on the property. Every maintenance request was never taken seriously. My apartment in particular is sinking and they did nothing to fix it after many requests to fix they told me they would fix it in the spring not a single person has started that at all. The previous tenant and housing hub had allowed us to only pay a partial amount due to us already putting a deposit down on another place and we were out the money (our fault!). We (housing hub, us, and previous tenant) agreed that the previous tenant would only get a portion of their deposit back and we would pay the difference, with the total deposit being refunded to us at moveout. We only stayed at this current place for 4-5 months due to existing pest issues that we did not know about! BED BUGS, COCKROACHES, and RATS!!!!!. Housing hub would not let us out of the place without finding another tenant. We did find a new tenant and they paid the full deposit. Where did the rest of the deposit ($1000) go?!?! We were dealt with as if we were merely a business transaction during the whole process. We have finally moved out- and housing hub is withholding $1000 of our deposit based on some technicality- even though the people who took over our lease paid the entire deposit amount and we were originally told we were going to get our entire deposit back. SO dishonest and they don't care AT ALL about their tenants. Housing Hub is the opposite of tenant friendly. I would consider them tenant hostile. Just today they must have turned the heat off in the building. Forecast for tonight? 38 degrees. The ones that really got ME this past winter after a snowstorm we were informed we had to move vehicles from parking lot by 8AM or get towed. I went out at 8:08 my Jeep was gone. That means they had to be hooked up and ready to go at like exactly 8:00 to be gone at 8:08. You would think they would inform tenants to move by 8 and have towing start at 8:30 or something. I complained, you would think they would have contacted the towing place and done something about it but no. I couldn't get it out right away. A few days later when I could get it out it was $500 something. 8 minutes, $500. If you're a tenant think twice before renting if Housing Hub is involved. I've never had this at any rental. When the owner had me clearing out little parking lot, basically 4 cars, I did it without ever having to have cars even moved. Two winters worth. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! This is the WORST housing agency to do business with. This is one where you HAVE to read the fine print in the lease. DO NOT FORGET TO TELL THEM WHEN YOU ARE MOVING OUT. They will take up to 2 months rent plus an additional $200 per month. Completely unnecessary. I leased in St. Cloud and my lease ended at the end of the lease agreement and no notice was given. Housing Hub did not give any notice or contact about renewing your lease. My girlfriend gave them a notice of 39 days and now has to pay over $1,000 for a crap apartment that she will not be living in. Reading these comments, I doubt she will be getting her security deposit back either. They will charge you for maintenance, regardless if it was your fault or not. She had to pay $400 for something she was not at fault for (most likely caused by previous tenants). It took them 6 months to act on fixing this too. There is no place to park at her apartment either. They gave her a map of where she could park but did not inform her of parking restrictions such as events that take place. Therefore, her car got towed and they did not take any credit for this. They will also not give you the keys to your apartment on the first day of the lease, which you are paying for. It took two weeks to get the keys. This is just the worst housing agency I have ever heard of. Please keep in mind this is all taking place during the COVID-19 issue where she lost her job and are not willing to cut her a break under any circumstances. I recently hired Chance DeHaven/Housing Hub MN to help me list and find new tenants for my recently renovated duplex in St. Paul. As a seasoned investment-property owner, I've been pleasantly surprised thus far in their overall process and assistance, especially given a few of the previous reviews I've read. In particular, Chance did a great job of communicating with me on a regular basis during the listing process and was able to quickly run the 'proper' background and financial requirements to secure very high-end tenants on not only a 1-yr lease agreement, but also on a multi-year lease agreement. BE AWARE OF HOUSING HUB!!! I am the parent of a daughter that is in the process of moving out of a housing hub rental in New Brighten MN. She had maintenance issue from the beginning. Not one of her keys, mail, apartment or building key worked properly, they wanted money to give her different ones. She called with a clogged drain, they came and cleared with a zip style snake. It took them less than ten minutes. THEY CHARGED HER $100.00 and told her it had to be paid by days end or additional fees would be charged. They also charged her $25.00 to have someone open a closet in the common area so she could get internet installed. My daughter found a new apartment that is run be a wonderful property management company. During her application process the new management company contacted Housing Hub three times to get rental verification. My daughter contacted them numerous times as well. They did not respond!!! Even though she rented from them for two years, they told her she had a well kept, cute apartment and her rent was only late one time in two years, the second month due to not understanding the portal. They did not respond for a rental verification. Because of this the new management company required her to pay first and last months rent. I am not a bitter person, I just feel they take advantage of renters. This was my daughter's first apartment and it was a horrible experience. Good luck trying to rent through them... I contacted about renting through their webpage, and left a message/email with all my information. I never received a response. I texted an agent, who responded 24 hours that she was able to show her units, but when I texted back for details never heard from her. Then I called the number on the webpage, got a series of automated choices, and at the end got a message to find a place I like and contact the agent listed there. Clearly that's not effective. Apparently you also have to contact whatever agent is listed on that property. Have several you want to see? Be prepared to make more than one appointment with more than one person. Very inefficient, ineffective, and unprofessional. A pity too, because some of the properties are cute and affordable (which maybe also should be a redflag). read more

Terrible company, no warnings when loud, intrusive maintenance on the building will occur. When we moved in, the oven was not functioning, a doorknob kept falling out and injuring my toe, and when we had to get our sink fixed, the maintenance worker used one of MY OWN cooking pots to put under the pipe to catch the dirty water and ended up ruining it. Absolutely disgusting company that does not care about the well being of the tenants. I would not recommend Housing Hub to a single human being on this entire planet. Stay away from them. read more

Don't even bother with these people. I rented from them for 2 years, when I moved in the place was merely passed city code. leaked ceiling, leaked basement, broken trusts, you name it. Called them, "yeah we'll fix it,," That was the end of that. When I moved out, they with held $1400 from my security deposit for repaint and cleaning the carpet even after when I turned in the receipt of cleaning from a third party professional carpet cleaner. By the way, the agency will sneak every thing they can to squeeze every dime our of you at the end of the lease. So be aware of that from these crooks. My unit (1083 Bush Ave) was infested with rats, and had a mold problem in the bathroom that management refused to address after multiple complaints. Forced to move out 4 months early due to high crime in the area. Cherry on top was taking my whole security deposit for "painting". The whole unit is sprayed white and there was no damage to any walls. If you're looking for a place to stay in the cities, go through a different company! read more

I recently rented from Housing Hub MN, these people are disease to the people of St. Paul. Seriously, this organization needs to be put down and get sue. The place that I rented was a trash outside and the inside was just to get by city code. When moved out, everything was much better condition yet they charged me $450 for paint, $300 for cleaning. I will sue these people so they will stop ripping people off. NEVER again will these people get my business. I have lived in a housing hub managed apartment on 3rd st for six months. in the first month i have lived here the power to my apartment went out at least five time. since than it has gone out at least another six times. The front door to my apartment leads outside and like the windows is at least 50 years old and are horribly drafty, and doesn't block much outside noise. they charged me $75 for maintenance because the they had to come out to fix something on a Saturday. they will charge you extra every month for trash service and in January they charge a $100 fee. read more
