So very good! And the ladies working were very friendly. I would buy from them next time I see them, and I recommend you do, too.

The corn tortillas are very crispy and greasy, as expected, and the meat was very tender and cheesy. I enjoy the array of sauces and toppings that are brought out with the tacos. The restaurant is very clean and has a nice ambiance. Although this is probably controversial, I preferred the salsas to the birria consomé.

It's Pearland so parking won't be a problem. After perusing the menu, I couldn't say no to the pizzadilla. I'll be back to that in the moment. Service (4.5/5): Pretty much what you hope for. A seamless ordering experience, the food was ready when promised, and no issues arose. One thing I like is that they go above and beyond in providing you with extra limes, and a generous heap of onions, cilantro, and veggies. Ambiance (3/5): Pretty much a standard small Mexican taco joint. Nothing to write home about. Drinks (4.5/5): I love agua frescas and they have them here with 3-4 flavors to choose from. I went with a large pepino (cucumber) agua fresca. Delicious and refreshing. Food (3/5): This is interesting. The pizzadilla sounded amazing. Think of it as a huge quesadilla of sorts, served in a pizza box You can choose your meat. Naturally, I went with the birria which is served with a generous portion of consome. All sounds good, right? Here's where things fell apart. The quesadilla had an overwhelming amount of cheese and an underwhelming amount of birria meat. This is coming from a guy who absolutely loves cheese and feels like it makes anything better. I think this is the first time in my life I'm saying otherwise. There was so much cheese that it overpowered the dish and you could barely taste the birria. Which shouldn't be the case as the meat is the star of the show. Maybe the kitchen made a mistake. Or maybe their ratio is highly off on this dish. Either way, disappointing as I thought this spot would crush it.

So far I've only had the doubles (sort of like chickpea tacos - chickpea shell and curried chickpea filling) and daal. The daal, such flavor. Tomorrow I'm going to hit it again and ask them for a triple or quadruple serving of the daal, and try the chicken curry. Such a solid addition to Galveston's food scene.

We've never even tried curry so the owner gave us some very tasty samples and we were happy to order what he suggested. We sat down and he personally brought us every plate as it came out. THE FOOD!! Very healthy portions and really fresh. The flavor was like something I've never experienced before. I usually am particular about trying new foods, but everything we tried made me clap my hands and do a little dance. I had to stop and talk to the chef and tell her how amazing our experience was. I will recommend this place the next time anyone asks me where they should go for a nice hearty lunch that they can still feel good walking away from.

Being from Maryland and a seafood connoisseur, I was especially happy to see whiting AND perch on the menu, along with such a wonderful array of soul food choices. The fish was fried perfectly -- crispy on the outside, flaky and tender on the inside, and definitely not overcooked. Even better, it wasn't overly seasoned or salty. Just right and tight! And honestly, I found this place almost by accident. I was nearby when I heard the R&B playing through the speakers and felt like I was being summoned by the soulful sounds. What a gift to have stumbled upon this spot! Tiera and Renetta took great care of me and made me feel genuinely welcome. The atmosphere was bright, clean, comfortable, and reminded me of home. Now I see why they say Houston is famous for its Black-owned restaurants with outstanding cuisine. Soul Goode absolutely lived up to that reputation. Great food, great music, great people, and great energy. I will be back -- and OFTEN!

Green beans were well seasoned. The turkey wings could've used a little more seasoning. Corn bread was excellent. Another area for improvement is the customer service. The energy seemed a bit "dry" compared to other black owned businesses in Houston. A more enthused greeting from the cashier or owner would've helped. Otherwise, this was a nice find!
