I don't even know where to start about Kay. Well, she's amazing, but there are specific reasons why: 1) *She is a friend*: Probably like many brides, I thought that I didn't need a wedding coordinator since I am relatively anal, a micromanager and love Excel spreadsheets. From the minute we met Kay during our consultation I knew we could not survive without her. But not because she infuses your wedding with her personal opinions but because she is a good friend and a great listener. She gets to know you and because of her years of experience can synthesize and organize your wedding to perfection, which leads to my next point that... 2) *She is a resource*: Because she has been in the business for a while, she can give excellent, vetted vendor recommendations. Our DJ, florist, makeup/hair stylists, transportation, etc were all Kay's recommendations - it made the process so much easier and hassle-free (a great thing when you are juggling so many wedding planning balls) 3) *She is a guide*: I literally had no clue what I wanted and had never imagined what my wedding day would be like. Probably a nightmare to work with, Kay never showed it - she was patient, listened and provides great guidelines, timelines and task lists for how to plan your wedding. She walks you through everything and makes you feel totally organized. When you start to feel overwhelmed with everything, she steps in and does her magic. Maybe that is my #4: *She is a magician*. Whatever it was, she is definitely a must-have person on your wedding team. I would recommend her without hesitation and would love to work with her anytime. I already miss our weekly check-ins. Definitely Recommend! One of my vendors, located outside of the DMV area recommended Kay to me as my wedding planner. Specifically, my vendor stated, " the only person I would trust in DC to do a great job is Kay. If Kay is not available hire a planner from New York." Although, I hired her for the month of wedding planning, she has really assisted me from the beginning. My wedding is in September 2017 and we have been getting things organized since November 2016. What really distinguishes her from other planners I interviewed, is that she is very organized, provides many resources, and if you have a vision she can point you to the right person. We could not have managed our wedding without Kay. It was a full-blown production with costume changes and a cast of thousands (ok, just 200+ guests). The whole event was 7 hours from start to finish, not including setup and breakdown! We had a Hindu ceremony, an Episcopal ceremony, cocktails and then a sit-down dinner reception. Everything went like clockwork thanks to Kay and her team. Kay even attended to my now-wife's mother when she felt ill during the reception. We hired Kay for her "month of" service, but we also got "a la carte" services from her -- she mailed our invitations, printed and assembled our programs, found a babysitter, and managed the shuttle service for the rehearsal dinner and wedding. At the rehearsal dinner, she even held umbrellas for our guests in the torrential downpour! As part of the "day-of" service, she did the final coordinating with all of the vendors, including our cranky caterer -- thank goodness we didn't have to! And to top it off, Kay is an incredibly considerate, caring person. When my wife broke her foot, Kay sent a get-well gift. She worked hard to understand the family/cultural dynamics of our wedding, and she even had a Mother's Day card for my new mother-in-law a month after the wedding. Kawania did an excellent job at our wedding! We hired her as our month of coordinator. Kawania and her team went above and beyond to make our event a very special one. She kept in touch with us throughout the process and let us know if she was going to be away or unavailable. They have many resources we were able to use as well. For instance, if you didn't like one of the makeup artists, she has many more for you to call and try. She was also able to help us stay within our budget when selecting the additional vendors we needed. Kawania also has many wonderful and unique ideas. She helped us decorate our sweetheart table, which we thought of having last minute. On the day of, her and her team made sure that we got some of our hors d'oeuvre to eat and kept everything running smoothly. Even with last minute changes, they were able to help accommodate them and make things happen. There are no other words to describe Kay and Howerton and Wooten events team other than perfection! My husband and I could not have imagined a better wedding. It was absolutely spectacular and actually the wedding of our dreams. Right from the very first email, down to the last minute of our wedding, Kay was incredibly responsive, even coming out to meet me at a location close to my office in DC during rush hour on more than one occasion. Kay is quite simply a phenomenal event planner with an infectious personality. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Kay in the months leading up to my wedding and only regret not starting the planning process with her sooner. That said, Kay took my current state in the wedding planning process (slightly behind) then deduced what still needed to be done based on my goals/vision, delegated responsibilities, provided detailed timelines/timeframes, foresaw potential pitfalls / proactively provided solutions, and essentially got my wedding planning process on the right track. Furthermore, in the days leading up to the wedding, Kay truly demonstrated herself as a subject matter expert in Event Planning by providing insight into all logistical aspects of the day (e.g seating arrangements, linen, musical arrangements, scheduling, floral arrangements, timing, etc.) On the big day, Kay and her team were great multi-taskers, were always 'one step ahead,' and pulled off a miraculous day of feat on something that I let slip through the cracks until wedding day. Howerton + Wooten made what could've been a stressful experience an enjoyable and fun journey. We hired the full planning services and, beginning on day 1, Kay and team were professional and on top of it. We were planning an out of town wedding and the thick of the planning process took place during an extremely busy period at work. Kay, Hana and team took charge and kept us looped in during the entire process. I appreciated the creative suggestions and WebEx presentations to provide me a visual of our selected styles and settings. They have solid vendor relationships and worked to adhere to our budget. We were in great hands and the day came together beautifully. A year later and guests are still talking about the wedding.
