Actually it can be quite confusing. The are halls, corridors, several floors, rooms dedicated to various themes and you can get lost in there. Not that the museum is really huge, but the the rooms interconnect in some way that defies rhyme or reason. Still I enjoyed my stay here and especially the Maori experience. Very educational as well as entertaining. Please follow the performers' requests as this is a cultural experience and you should be mindful. I highly recommend it. There was also a shark exhibit going on and some sort of student activity while I was visiting. This place is a hodgepodge of all things Auckland and New Zealand in general. Perfect for folks with a short attention span, because there is something new and different around every corner.

I'm used to museums with a…read morespecific theme and this was a hodge podge museum, filled with quirky collections of indigenous, historical war, science and other miscellaneous items. I am quirky, so I really enjoyed my visit here. The first floor was about indigenous Māori history and other Polynesian islands. The second floor's theme was natural history and the third floor was war history (Māori, World wars) and memorial dedicated to those who served from New Zealand. I spent about three hours looking at all the exhibits and displays. In another lifetime, I worked at an aviation museum and I was astounded to find an intact Zero plane here. With less than twenty in existence, to actually see one in person with actual World War Two history was the highlight of my visit. The museum has two eateries that's pretty decent in price with nice sitting areas to enjoy. The gift shop had original items I didn't see anywhere else on my trip. The museum is free to NZ residents but visitors have to pay admission. It's worth it to pay and visit here atleast once in your lifetime.

I'm a big plane fan and I only discovered this place existed a short time ago. It really is an excellent aviation collection showcasing so much history and magnificence I could seriously look around for ages. My favourite displays were the Lancaster Bomber an oldie but a goodie and the newer Skyhawk which put simply looks incred. If you have young boys or even girls (it can happen) that are into planes you really won't be disappointed if you bring them here. We parked right outside so there was no hassle involved with that and it's just a quiet peaceful place where you are left up to your own devices to explore and learn, fantastic!

Which I guess means it's a really good museum. A visit here is a definite must for music lovers or those who fancy antiques, or anyone just generally curious about what the heck kind of sound those odd contraptions are going to make. But seriously, this place is a rich resource that Waiheke is very lucky to have, and a huge amount of time and effort go into taking care of the instruments and making them available for Joe Bloggs to enjoy.

So we followed the signs and chose to pop in one car without the sign. Suddenly，the staff noticed us we can't do that. We felt sorry for that and kept us off the cars immediately. After couple minutes, another family was yelled by the stuff and we were shorked by his bad manner. After our visit, we found the staff and advised him to tell other coming visitors clearly to avoid the misunderstanding. However, he said the sign was absolutely clear and he didn't need any further explanation with annoying attitude. It's fascinating to see how much the town has changed in the last 100 years, and even more fascinating to see what still remains here! Many kind people have donated to the clothing section over the years, and it's been very well preserved. There's also a great selection of pioneer tools, particularly those used in Kauri milling. The volunteers are brilliant and very willing to show you through. When you've finished taking a look through the museum (which probably won't take too long) there's the Parry Kauri Park walk. Take a pleasant amble along mostly boardwalk through the big old Kauris and native forest.
