They rarely answer their phones. How many times I tried to get a price quote and no one answers. Because of it I just go to Homedepot

1 star because of 2 mistakes with the same clerk. 1) I called in advance to see if they sold Hardie panel siding and if they could cut it down so I could fit it in my car. The girl that answered the phone her name was Ashley she told me yes we can. So I was like great! I'll head down there right now. When I got there I was instructed to go to back to pick it up. I went to the back the person said we can't cut it they need a special blade. I told them I just called and Ashley told me that they do but they don't. So I've wasted my gas and time heading down there. 2) I walked in headed to the clerk to ask questions about a purchase. Quickly I recognized the girls name tag and I was like this is the girl that made the mistake the last time! so I decided to make what I am looking for very clear so no mistakes this time because it had to be ordered. Calmly I offered to show pictures, I drew it on a piece of paper. Anyways.. apparently I had to have it ordered so she told me 2-3wks it will come in. Waited till the 4th week thinking they maybe backed up due to the pandemic. Called to check if my order had come in because I hadn't heard anything. The girl says my order is in and can pick it up. So went down there to pick it up and it was the wrong merchandise. I don't what else to do. I explained it, I drew it on a piece of paper and even showed her a picture and it was still wrong! This store is now absolute last resort! I would recommend going else where before going here. read more

The people in their paint department are either extremely under trained or they are spending their time with the caulking gun up their nose. I was looking for an oil based top coat to cover an oil based primer (sold to me by HPM) for my wood fence. The woman at their Kamuela paint counter insisted that they no longer carry oil based paint. When I showed her two cans of oil paint on their shelf she got an insulted look on her face and started stuttering some BS. I then went to the Hilo store (their head office) where Michael V. assured me the oil based paint he took from the shelf was what was needed in this application after I gave him a written copy detailing the paint used as a primer. The paint he sold us is used exclusively for metal applications. USELESS INDIVIDUAL!! If all HPM can hire are warm bodies then they should post this information in a conspicuous location so customers can lower their expectations. So far I have spent $30.00 on gas traveling to their locations only to find two remedial achievers at the most expensive building supply stores on the island. read more

They have everything to build your new home, a renovation, or just to fix a minor problem in your existing residence. They carry the best lumber, fixtures, and roof products. With free delivery to your job site, it makes it easy to work with builders having the material dropped off. The customer service we received at the contractor department was excellent. We worked with Tanya and Ray and got everything we needed with no problems at all. Having great customer service alleviates a lot of headaches when your building and making sure that the material is there on time for the builders. HPM has good pricing on their products. If there is anything wrong with any of your purchases, they will either exchange it or give a refund. When you need to purchase a lot of material for your next project HPM is the place to get it from. HPM is located on Kanoelehua avenue near the Edith Kanakaole Tennis Stadium. They are open every day, and there is ample parking in front of the store or on the Kalanikoa Street side. read more

First posting for the start of our home building project on the big isle. HPM's website is well built and easy to use. We plan on building a home using a building package from HPM. We received a quick email response from them after making contact via HPM website messaging. 4 Stars for now because I haven't found any pricing for the home packages on their website. HPM is considered the Big Island's go to building supplier and builder. Their company is employee owned and also comes with decades of service and experience. We'll update this post as we continue with the build. We are looking forward to working with HPM. read more

9/4/10: Stopped in for an angle stop (to install our diaper sprayer), found what we needed with ease. This isn't your Home Depot with shelves of inventory in disarray, find stuff with ease! Only bummer is that hours aren't as long as HD so plan accordingly! If you need big or commercial stuff, head straight for the back warehouse, all kine plumbing electrical and hardware back there. Mostly home improvement stuffs up front. read more

Went to HPM to pickup to pickup a cartridge for my bathroom. Danny in plumbing was awesome and showed me what I needed. He walked over from the warehouse area to show me what I needed. The customer service I experienced was awesome! We only hear negative things and I just wanted to make sure people who do their job right get acknowledged. Danny was awesome and we need more people like him. When I walked in the girls at the desk in the back of the store were friendly and asked if I needed help. I would have given HPM a five star but the cashier who helped me needed to learn about customer service. Her name started with a K. Other then that I was very happy with my experience. Worthless. I went in to buy a Lanai and slider. She complained that my slider should be 5' high because I told her 6' by 80". I'm not a pro. I explained that to her but her attitude made me go to the big box and I'll never be back. I've tried to hiy local several times but will never be back. read more
