Not Impressend...since HHS took over this Hospital...I experienced something as a Pastor that I…read morenever have experienced before in 30 plus years of ministry...I was not able to get back to see someone in emergency because they needed her husband's permission, who was not there...so I had to call him...get him to call the hospital and give permission...they said the reason for doing this is to prove who I said I was...however they never asked for ID or my pastor's ID...I have been to large and small hospitals in several states and never experienced this...I appreciate all the Doctors and Nurses... their hard work and sacrifice during the pandemic.... but it's time for the hospital administrations to quit playing games with masks and absurd policies... Our governor has said hospitals and medical facilities no longer need to require masks but yet some do and some don't... I believe there are those in administration of hospitals that like the power and control... patients struggled immensely during the pandemic because the lack of availability of Spiritual Care From chaplains, Pastors and family members even more when they were dying... I've experienced this personally as a Pastor not being able to be with one of my members of my congregation when they were dying because of people in positions of Authority wanting power and control...

I've been to this little hospital 3 times now. My first trip was to see (my coming down once a week…read morefrom Springfield Orthopedic surgeon) Dr. El-Bitar. ( 5 stars for him and his staff too ) Anyhow, I got to the hospital @8 AM that first trip, check in, go to admissions/insurance, and got my (pretty damn painful) hip-shot within about 1/2 hr. I decided then to complain to the doctor about my left hand often going numb. He asked me if I wanted that fixed. I said "sure". How about next week? "OK". His office staff schedules the carpel-tunnel surgery for the following Thursday, sends me to x-ray, then to the lab for pre-op blood tests, and I think back to admissions, and I'm all set! ... and I walk back out the front door a little after 10 AM ! I moved here from Denver, and would have expected an all-day-ordeal for all that! Everyone I've seen so far at the Pana Hospital; front desk, admissions, imaging and radiology and lab, I've found to be courteous, attentive, and professional, and they're fast too. Best hospital I've ever been to in my 65 years..although Taylorville Memorial runs a pretty close 2nd.

Unfortunately I'm one of them people that have been very sick for a few years off and on and they have always been very kind for me. I was yelling "Nurse" for almost an hour and no one even came in to check on me, even though 10 nurses were sitting in their chairs chatting and playing their on I-phones10 feet away from my open door room. The head nurse and doctor didn't even care when I told them about my incident. I could have died and no one even put their head in my room; they just kept walking by while I cried out to them. Very lazy staff and they care less about the patients. Don't go here unless you really have to.

Literally every person that I dealt with, from wheeling me around, to CT, MRI, ECHO CARDIO, SONOGRAPHY, TO PT, OT, SPEECH PATHOLOGY...TO DIETICIAN, TO FOOD SERVICE, housekeeping. The nursing staff, and Drs and all of this team, are amazing. They genuinely care about those of us in life and death situations and needs. ER staff was also first rate and impressive as well. Thank you with all of my Heart.. I have truly been blessed by God to be alive and doing well right now....from start to finish, about 30 hours total, I was admitted, and discharged and home now with my daughter this evening, doing great. Almost every single person I met in the er was insanely unprofessional and unpleasant to be around…read more I came in an ambulance after a pretty bad car accident but my friend definitely had it worse than me, I was shown to my room by a male nurse who then promptly stuck his head out the door and yelled "can I have the other one?" My friend was covered head to toe in blood and I had to advocate (being a patient myself!!) for her to get a hospital gown. Friend had to get 5 stitches in her forehead, also had to ask at least 5 times for something for the pain, they finally brought her an ibuprofen. The minute I got to my room I was brought a cup to pee in and a Sheriff was in my room. Both my friend and I were almost immediately covered in nasty bruises, I had some burn marks as well. Nobody checked our bruises or anything on us. Everyone seemed very inconvenienced that we needed medical attention. We each got a ct scan and nothing else. I absolutely had whiplash possibly a mild concussion as well. If you are at all able stay away from this hospital.
