I use Premier Inn regularly and this was my first visit to a Hub.
The location of this one is great for both King's Cross and St.Pancras stations, and of course the six tube lines that serve these stations. The hotel concept is budget with a twist. The theme is modern and tech, maybe a bit too tech.
Rooms are 'pod' style and very stylish with some good in-built features, such as the under-bed-drawer with lets you store away your luggage but leaving it easy to access. The plug sockets with integrated USB ports are handy.
Bathrooms are adequate and have a nice big shower with bespoke toiletries.
The tech doesn't always seem to function. There's an app to download which provides handy info and also allows you to control your room...when it works. The TV part of the app never worked and the air-co controls have a huge delay. It all seems a bit excessive when the normal controls are integrated into the bed headboard, so are only a couple of centimetres away when In bed and due to the compact size of the room never more than a metre away. The room TV is also equipped with bluetooth to connect to your phone or iPad. When trying to do this i never got further than 'This function needs upgrading' on the TV screen. The free WiFi is great, super fast and connects every time!
The cafe/bar is okay, though the music is more in-your-face than background. Breakfast is served in the cafe/bar and is basic, but for £5 is good value, especially in London. Breakfast menu is restricted to Toast, bagels, pastries, porridge and fruit. Free tea and coffee are available all day, which almost makes up for no drink making facilities in the rooms, which I really miss, especially first thing in a morning.
Staff as ever at Premier Inn companies are friendly helpful and attentive.
I'm not sure I'd stay at a Hub again, I prefer the real Premier Inn but never say never. read more
