Wonderful freedom trail walking tour with Seton yesterday! She's a grad student at Harvard and is passionate about 18th century history, so talking about the history of Boston at that time was something she clearly enjoyed. :) I booked the tour ahead of time through Viator and even changed the date/time once with ease. We had a group of 15 which was much preferable to the larger tours of 30 that we saw milling around nearby. We had walked the freedom trail on our own back in 2019 and we learned a few new things yesterday. A beautiful warm day, with occasional breezes had everyone out and about exploring Boston Commons and the surrounding neighborhoods. The pacing was perfect, with time for questions and a bathroom/refreshment break at about 90 minutes of the tour at Faneuil Hall. Walking tours are truly a great way to get to know a city's history, and this small group version was excellent! Highly recommend! read more

I went on the Freedom Trail tour with my mom on Sunday May 25th and it was a very fun experience, it was my first time in Boston my mom hasn't been since she was a kid. The tour started in the Boston Commons where you learn about the history of Boston itself and the Commons, we then made our way over to where the Freedom Trail begins and began walking down it. The first stop we made was to the Granary Burying Grounds we then kept going till we got to other landmarks such as where the Boston Massacre occurred and into the North End to see some more historic spots such as Paul Revere's house. The tour lasted around 2 hours in total. Our tour guide (can't remember her name unfortunately) was very friendly and knowledgeable, it was actually her first time leading a tour and she did a great job! My only two complaints would be that she didn't really give us any time at all to take photos of the different stops along the tour once she was done telling us about the significance and she did walk a bit fast there was a small family in our tour that briefly got lost because they couldn't see where our guide went. Overall I would definitely recommend Hub Town Tours and will consider doing another tour if I'm back in Boston in the future. read more

Maz, our guide, was knowledgeable and personable - his voice projected well (despite traffic and construction!) and he was conscientious about us finding shady spots, places to sit while he talked, and even an air conditioned break. The stories are just as much of what is good about the tour as the specific buildings or sites, so it's important to have a great guide, and Maz was terrific. Took the Freedom Trail Tour this morning with Drew as our guide. I can say that this is the best walking tour I have taken in any city or country we have visited. Drew told the story of the revolution with passion, enthusiasm, some comedy relief, as well as acting out the personalities of a few of the forefathers. The 2 1/2 hours flew by, and he was respectful of the guests by making sure he gave his presentations in shady and safe areas away from traffic. It is evident that Drew clearly enjoys what he is doing and his delivery is captivating. Take this tour and you will not be disappointed. The story of the run-up to war is very well integrated into the sequence of sites, which makes for a coherent and gripping narrative. Nick, our guide, described the most prominent participants, such as John Hancock, Sam Adams, John Adams, and Paul Revere, vividly and three-dimensionally. He's clearly very knowledgeable, welcomed questions, and answered them adeptly. He described an ambiguous confrontation between a crowd of rowdy Bostonians and armed British soldiers, on the site where it took place, so colorfully and with such detail that it was easy to picture. We decided to do a walking tour of the Freedom Trail and am so glad we did. Our tour guide, Ted, was engaging and interactive. The typical historical tour guide sounds very rote. Ted, on the other hand, was obviously very knowledgeable and passionate about that period in history. We were fortunate to have perfect weather for our tour and, although advertised as 2-1/2 hours, we spent 3 hours. I loved that this was a small group, much longer in duration, and hit all the stops on the trail. Our tour guide Drew was absolutely incredible.
