People dont understand that being a plumber in this day and age is tough with material allocation being insane. Homeowners don't understand how hard these guys have to work and they do work hard. They are professional, trustworthy and honest. Unlike other plumbers when they cut holes out of your wall they make a nice clean cut for easy patching and always clean up after themselves. They use moving blankets to protect the area they are working in and make sure to discuss the job with you before they start working. If you need quality service work these are the guys you want at your disposal. They are locals and very tight nit with the Ithaca community. One minute they are changing out your shower diverter amd an hour later they are installing steam piping at breweries. These guys do ALOT pf different jobs big and small. Give them credit where the credit os due. I dont care how many times they have to go get parts. Things change in a split second and your old ass house is the problem not them 100% of the time.

I had a plumber look at a water pressure issue (apparently nothing to be done about that, so no worries) and a dripping tap. The plumber disassembled the tap, told me they needed to order a part - as usual, these always require some brand specific cartridge - and they'd get back to me once they sourced it. He did not put the tap back together properly, so I had to figure out how to reassemble it myself, and Warden never called me back about the replacement part. Weeks later I still have a dripping tap. Would not call these folks again, guess I'll teach myself how to replace the cartridge on my own so I can be assured of a decent job.

Overall Zach Zanghi (owner) has fair prices, communicates well and employs knowledgeable people.

The woman who answered the phone seemed confounded by my request and said I needed to sign the contract and send it back. I explained again that I had questions that needed to be answered first. She wondered what my questions were, so I explained what they were. In a none too polite manner she said someone would get back to me. No one ever did.

My Generac 17 kw standby generator failed after a lightning storm. It would start and then shutoff…read morewithin a few seconds. I contacted Finger Lakes Power Systems to repair the unit. Their Service Manager, Tara Barnhart, advised that a tech would be sent out shortly. The tech spent 3 hours of troubleshooting over 3 visits. Tara contacted me by phone and advised that the tech was unable to identify the cause of the failure, and more troubleshooting was required. She advised that the cost to date was $1000 and would I like to continue. She advised that the problem could be fuel related, stepper motor/mixer, the controller or something else. She advised getting a new generator and would like to schedule an appointment. I told her that I thought that the technician's analysis was poor, to stop troubleshooting and to invoice me. I received an invoice for $995.00 with the Note: "Replaced fuel solenoid and brushes, generator still not running properly. Technician recommends replacing fuel regulator and stepper motor/mixer assembly and possibly controller or replacing entire unit." Before the tech's analysis and part swapping, the unit would start, run a few seconds, shutoff. After the tech's analysyis and part swapping, the unit would start, run a few seconds, shutoff. The tech changed nothing and gave me a useless diagnosis for $1k. I had another tech examine the unit. He discovered within 15 minutes of visual inspection that the controller was fried, possible due to the lightning storm. He also discovered that a fuse in the transfer switch was blown. These two items were not discovered by FLPS. Avoid this company!

It was Saturday evening of Memorial Day weekend when our water intake pump froze up. We took it…read moreapart to see if we could find a reset switch and could not. We called Mertec to come out and fix the pump or we were going to have to have our house full of people go home. My call was answered on the first ring by a pleasant gentleman. He asked a bunch of questions then made some suggestions as to what we might try first. We did and called him back. Based on what we told him at that point, he made some final suggestions and asked that I call him back and let him know how that worked out. We did what he said and the pump worked great. I called him back to say thank you and ask how much I owed him and he chuckled and said you don't owe me anything, but that if plumping needs arise in the future to think of him. I absolutely will look to Mertec for any future needs as well as recommend them to anyone in need. Our fix was simple for people that have some basic mechanical knowledge. However, rather than take our money, be was more interested in making sure we has water service. Thank you for saving our weekend.
