Dr. Minardi is one of those doctors who really enjoys his work. He is a top doctor who also works at Memorial Sloan Kettering with cancer patients. I've been dealing with serious allergies since working from home the past year. In desperation, I booked an appointment with Hudson Allergy after finding them on Zocdoc. While the initial doctor I appointed wasn't available the day I came, I saw Dr. Mainardi instead, and he's been fantastic so far. I've visited their clinic a few times already, and it's very clean. They follow covid safety measures, so there isn't a slew of patients just waiting around at the same time. For those who end up getting serious allergy shots, there is a waiting room in the back so you can relax and read a book or whatever, while you wait to get your shots. Dr. Mainardi has been very thorough in explaining how your allergies work and how to deal with them. I ended up getting allergy shots, but I'm hopeful this process will be worth it in the end. Hudson Allergy leaves you assured your allergies are being taken care of the moment you make an appointment. They are a little difficult to reach by phone mainly because they have different office locations, but they're very responsive by email. Their staff has been very friendly and helpful with any needs. If you have allergy problems, definitely consider this place. read more

Another 5 star review for Hudson Allergy! I loved Dr. Julie Kuriakose so much that I almost wish I had allergies and had a reason to return. Seriously. Dr. Kuriakose quickly determined that what I was experiencing was not caused by an allergy, but still spent a lot of time with me, asking questions, and trying to help me find a solution. From my experience so far in NYC, most doctors seem rushed and quickly push you out the door, but Dr. Kuriakose took the time to listen to and understand my concerns and recommend solutions, despite her believing it was not in her area of expertise. We did do an environmental allergy test just to rule it out, which was an easy 15 minute test that gave me peace of mind. She genuinely seems to care about her patients, and even told me to keep in touch and keep her posted even though I'm clearly not going to be a long term patient for her as I don't have allergies. read more

My job was in Manhattan before the pandemic and now I commute into Manhattan (from Queens) because I don't even want to try another place. I see Dr. Kuriakose but Dr. Mainardi is awesome too. I really can't recommend this place enough. I found myself covered in hives that no one understood the cause of and was able to get an appointment with Dr. Julie Kuriakose very quickly. She went over my history and the medications that had been previously prescribed by other doctors. Every other doctor brushed me off with a "sometimes people just get hives" "oh yeah I guess those look uncomfortable". I was miserable and Dr. Kuriakose took that seriously. She was far more detailed than anyone else I had seen. During this time I began to develop more intense medical issues and experienced symptoms other than hives that required medical attention. Dr. Kuriakose stayed in close contact with me, even on her days off and seemed genuinely concerned about my well being (She also advised me how to stay safe during COVID19 since some of my medication impacted my immune system). She was open to working with other specialists I needed see, such as a rheumatologist to rule out underlying issues and set up tests of her own as well. All I can say is go. Such a thoughtful and knowledgeable doctor -- you could totally sense the passion it was amazing to watch. I had a difficult case that ended up potentially not being allergies at all and he was knowledgeable enough to figure it out -- literally it was like watching Nancy Drew (or maybe Nathan Drew?). I found them to be dishonest. I was quoted a price of "around $500" on the phone. When I went to the counter, the bill was $1,150 , an increase of 110%. None of the doctors took the time to explain the charge to me. The two kids at the front desk just told me to write a check for that amount, like going from "around $500" to $1,150 is completely normal. And what was that money for? To tell me my kid is allergic to "dust mites and trees...that'll be $1,150." Who wudda thunk it Doctors are the shadiest people out there these days. If you are paying out of pocket be very clear about cost once, twice, three times... Never again. read more

I have seasonal pollen allergies and took OTC meds and prescribed inhalers from my primary care doctor for years before coming to Hudson Allergy. The receptionist (don't know her name but she's awesome) is super friendly and clear when managing my forms/insurance or helping to set up appointments. Dr. Kuriakose's bedside manner is one of the best I've seen from a medical professional. My appointments are always informative, quick but not rushed, and seamless. She takes the time to explain not just my symptoms and how to treat them but general pollen trends and when I can expect them to start and end. My symptoms sometimes vary in severity from year to year and she always does a great job monitoring these trends and making new recommendations. Happy to say my allergies are on lockdown! read more

Called and made an appointment several weeks in advance. Hudson Allergy sends a confirmation email with details of the appointment. Take time off from my work day to arrive at facility only to have receptionist tell me my appointment is no longer in their system and there seems to have been an error with the booking process, some lame excuse about "something not being scanned in properly". Huh?? Even after showing my email confirmation of the appointment i'm told no chance to see anyone that day and to try booking another reservation. Complete waste of time and ZERO chance I'd ever book another appointment with these morons. Don't waste your time, find another Allergist in the area. read more

Had an excellent visit with Dr. Mainardi here. He was very knowledgeable, funny, and well informed as to the whole area of food allergies, and how to best monitor what foods agree and which do not. The written material he gave me helped me a lot to start thinking about a proper diet given my allergies. He is not an alarmist and doesn't believe in ordering unnecessary testing. My life before Hudson Allergy: wake up congested, blow my nose at least 50 times per day, itchy eyes, sinus pressure, coughing, face all swollen, nose and lips irritated - real sexy. My life after Hudson Allergy: Holy crap I can smell things, no more pocket booger tissue collection, ran on a treadmill without wheezing (is this how normal lungs feel?!), cleaned and touched things without immediately regretting it. I paid out of pocket and all the prices were discussed with me before I agreed to any tests. Found out I was allergic to mugwort (really surprised) and my doc gave me a printout of how to reduce allergens for my other allergies. I followed the recommendations and now feel like a normal human. read more

Took my toddler to see Dr. Mainardi. He was great, extremely helpful and very knowledgable and I always appreciate doctors who take the time to explain everything in details. My big concern though is that it feels like the doctors are not very accessible. I had a question about a symptom my son was having and did not get a call back (from a nurse practitioner) until 2 days after my call. Also they do not have after hours for when you need to reach someone with urgent questions. We've had to rely heavily on our pediatrician for allergy related questions, so that is a drawback for me. Basically the 4 stars are for Dr. Mainardi himself because he does seem very knowledgable and helpful. But the lack of accessibility to the doctors is drawback here. read more

Time and time again, this practice, the doctors and all of their staff go above and beyond. I love these guys. There were issues with my insurance - they were able to work with me. I was unable to make an appointment due to a family matter, they sent my allergy medications to my local pharmacy to make sure my allergies would be controlled until I could be seen again.
