In the pre-k classroom the curriculum is fun, educational and age appropriate. Our son knows his letters, numbers and most importantly demonstrates a love for learning. TLC has been incredibly flexible with my fluctuating work schedule and my son can't wait to get to school every morning. Not sure what we'd do without TLC!

Let me preface my review by saying that I do have high expectations when someone watches my child…read more I am happy to pay whatever dollar amount, but inconsistent care is not acceptable. We moved in from out of state and I looked at 2 daycares. A national chain that used with a curricular approach and TLC. We chose TLC, because of the low infant to 'teacher' ratio, which is 3 to 1. The facility is nice and people were nice enough. Pricing was high for this market, but expected at that level of staffing. The first week or so were a bit of a transition, which we expected. My son didn't sleep well there and stopped holding his bottle and being as active as normal. I chalked this up to a big move and change of daycares. After about 2 weeks things started to get a little strange, whenever we picked up my son he was either sleeping or being fed. We never saw him on the floor playing with other kids. The other kids were always being fed or sleeping. Granted we weren't there long stretches of time, but I heard parents say the same thing to the workers. In week 3, we showed up to drop off my son and the infant room did not have a normal teacher. The fill in from the toddler room stated she didn't know where anyone was. She also stated she understood if we didn't want to leave him with her. All of this struck us as strange. We decided based on gut to leave. I emailed the management and expressed my concern about a lack of backup and system in place to deal with this type of situation. The reply from management was 'these things happen especially with bad weather.' The problem with this statement is that day did not have bad weather. We took the weekend to think about it and thought to give it one more shot. We tried to make an appointment with management and they kept pushing the date to later in the week. This should have been telling that they were not receptive to our concerns. We took my son to the daycare and the lead teacher was in the room. She apologized for the lack of a teacher on the prior Friday. She said the teacher who is normally there had an issue late night at her apartment. We left our son and decided my wife would go back to check. She did and the normal early morning teacher was very sick and talking to the lead teacher. They both seemed surprised my wife showed up. My wife found my son in the crib with a dirty diaper screaming. He had obviously been crying for a while. The two teachers had been in the other room talking evidently not paying attention to the crying of my son or other children. Ultimately, the number of incidents in a compressed time made us switch daycares. For some reason the management decided it was necessary to write an email telling me why all my concerns were baseless after we pulled him. Additionally, they stated no other children had been pulled in the past 11 years. This is patently false. A child at our new daycare was originally at TLC. I do not think they mistreat children, but in the week after being at TLC my son had reengaged with the new kids at his new daycare. He was scooting around laughing with the other kids and playing with the teacher. This is exactly how he interacted in his prior daycare. I am sure this review will send them through the roof, but it is all true. I am giving it 2 stars, cause the facility is nice.

I attended this school from 1999 through 2007 when I was forced to drop out. While I acknowledge…read morethat many teachers and administrators have changed, I can only speak to my own personal experiences, I would be remiss if I did not share my story. Years K-6th were broadly excellent. A warm, caring environment with excellent educators. Mrs. Blatnik, White, Chin, and Mr. Goober were extremely positive influences in those formative years, and I have nothing but gratitude for them. All issues arose during grade 7 during my brief tenure in the (then very young) middle school program during its second year in operation. I spent my entire childhood with undiagnosed autism; I don't blame the school for this, detection and treatment was far less robust then than it was now. I do blame to school for the resultant bullying that I endured that year, and what I perceived as the cause. The middle school, especially in its pilot years, was intent on making a big show of its success placements. There was a lot of parading around the kids who were being accepted into 'elite' high schools like Western Reserve Academy, Walsh Jesuit, or a handful of others. They were clearly trying to position the middle school as a funnel of sorts to these programs. Of course, with these elite programs came elite tuition costs, and I'll just say that my family was not prepared to shell out for one of these programs. Moreover, I had no personal interest in boarding schools, religious schools, or really any of these programs. I distinctly remember Ms. Ludick's reaction at the parent teacher night when this info was brought to light. She was aghast and, dare I say, offended at the idea. Almost overnight, the atmosphere shifted. My grades took a sharp hit almost immediately. I became the target for relentless bullying from students who were already on the so called 'elite' track. It was daily, it was constant, and I was chastised when I withdrew like a turtle into its shell. And while I admit my autistic tendencies made me internalize a lot more than I should have, the rampant bullying was apparent to all, that year, including the staff. There were other students who noticed. Nothing was done. Suffice to say, there was an incident that spring where I was pushed to breaking point, and I was removed for my own safety. It is also worth noting that once I was gone, one of my good friends became the new target, for largely similar reasons. The staff knew. The staff even aided and abetted the bullies, many of whom were among the wealthier families in the program that the admins would cozy up to. The message was clear: I was not worth the investment, boasted no ambitions for them to advertise in the future, and as such was cut loose. "Open Season." I have had many years of growth and therapy to digest what happened then. I wouldn't be writing this at all if I hadn't seen some social media videos featuring alumni testimonies, and see several of the bullies being plastered up as Star Student advertisements. With the small number of reviews here, I don't expect this to gain much traction. And, as I said, many years have passed since 2007, and I cannot speak to how things have changed. All I can do is share what happened to me, and if it happens to help even one person down the road, that's enough for me.

The school teaches you how to think for yourself, how to cooperate with others, and how to be a global citizen. I was able to independently explore my passion for math and develop a ton of practical life skills at the same time. It helped me be successful at WRA and later Brown University before becoming a high school math and computer science teacher myself. I still use a lot of Montessori philosophy in my job today. As someone who went to the Goddard school for years if this is something you are looking for...just go down the street. The teachers have little to zero desire to be there and it is obvious. My son would come home saying he heard cussing by them all day and being told countless time that they cant wait until the kids leave. They have zero control over the environment and have a lot of throwing of toys and other objects. There was an incident of inappropriate behavior that was never properly addressed or handled. They tend to ignore any issues and just agree that it isn't ok.... yeah we know. I had advised them that we will be leaving due to all of this and the teachers inappropriate behavior. The next day I was charge for the next month a week and a half early. Overall, this is by far the ABSOLUTE WORST experience I have ever had with child care. Completely unprofessional environment. I am still in shock with the things my son would come home and tell me he overhead or was told from the "teachers" There is not an ounce of this place I would recommend.

As soon as you walk in the doors, there is a vibe and feeling like no other. Whether you are in the front office area, in the classrooms, or even chatting in the main play area with another family or the teachers, you are greeted with smiling faces and laughter. The staff truly love the children like their own, and their goal each and every day is to make sure that the children are in a safe, fun learning environment. The academic curriculum surpasses all others. I love that my children are able to learn how to read, write, speak Spanish and French, but also learn about respecting others and cooperation outside the home. Truly a wonderful place and I would always recommend them first! 5 stars all around!
