When my washing machine stopped working, I tried a host of internet-provided remedies with no luck. Yesterday, yes yesterday, I called Blue Fox to see how soon someone could come to my home to give me an idea what is wrong with my refrigerator. After speaking with Trisha, who by the way is beyond pleasant and friendly, she told me Kristian can be out tomorrow, yes tomorrow! I was advised I would receive a call when he was 15 minutes away. Got that call, and guess who showed up 15 minutes later? From the time of arrival to the time of departure Kristian was efficient and great explaining what exactly what the problem was. I initially called them to see if they serviced the Akron Ohio area and they do. The nice woman who answered the phone right away said they service most of NE Ohio. The ice maker in my refrigerator hasn't worked in a long time and I'm tired of manually making ice. The woman set me up with an appointment after clearly giving me a price breakdown of an initial visit, and said the technician Kristian would meet me at our appointed time and she'd call me when he's about 15 minutes away. On the day of my appointment the woman sure enough called me when Kristian was about 15 minutes out and he arrived exactly on time. Kristian was polite and well kept, introduced himself, and went right to work. It didn't take long for him to find what he thought was the issue and he kept me up to date with his findings as he worked. He said he'd call his wife - the nice woman on the phone - and she'd order the part he needed. He then told me that Blue Fox Appliance Repair was just him and his wife! I love small businesses and feel lucky to have stumbled on them. Trish, his wife, called me again to let me know the cost of the part and to set up another appointment time and day for the install. Once again she called me on the day of the install to let me know he was about 15 minutes away and Kristian indeed showed up right on time. Excellent service! Once again Kristian got right to work and only took about 30 minutes for his work. We talked a bit about his business and history as I wrote the check out and thanked him for his time and work as he left. The next day I was so excited to see ice cubes in my ice maker for the first time in a long time! Imagine my utter disappointment when as soon as I pushed the flap for ice a loud clunking sound emanated from the dispenser and that was it; no ice! I opened the fridge door and pulled out the ice tray and there was indeed some ice in there being made! I tried the flap a few more times but to no avail. I reluctantly called Blue Fox back but it was about 30 minutes outside of their business hours. Imagine my surprise when Trish called me at about 7:30pm that night from one of their kids' swim meets to tell me she spoke to Kristian and he'd be back out the next day to take a look at it! When he arrived the next day (after Trish's 15 minute prior call) he profusely apologized. I said it was no worry because what I initially called him for: the ice maker isn't making ice, was fixed. There IS ice. He said he should have pushed the flap but why would he? There was no ice to be dispensed when he left the other day. He pushed the flap for water to make sure water was getting to the ice maker. He just kept apologizing and saying he is very OCD and always wants to fix things perfectly the first time. He spent about 45 minutes at my house that day on the phone with his wife (presumably at her computer looking things up for him) and the Frigidaire support line. Who knows what caused the problem (perhaps having the ice maker shut off for so long?) but Kristian said per the Frigidaire tech's suggestion a computer motherboard of sorts needed replacing. Kristian was so apologetic he said he wouldn't charge me for his service visit, but just for the cost of the part. Trish called me later that day to confirm I wanted to order the part and to set up an install date and time. The day of the install, you already know the drill! Ha! Great service I tell ya! So Kristian shows up and gets right to work installing this motherboard. This install, however, seemed to take a lot longer than the others but it seems like it should have been the quickest one yet. After about a half hour Kristian came to get me and as he said "have a talk about your fridge". I'll spare you the details but basically the motherboard part didn't fix the overall issue my refrigerator was apparently suffering. He said he installed the motherboard and only partially got the ice dispenser to work but a partial fix isn't good enough for him. He gave me his personal opinion on the fridge and how at this point all possible solutions would just be costing more money and at some point the repairs would equal more than the cost of this used fridge itself. He told me that the motherboard didn't 100% fix my particular fridge's issue and that he took out the new one and put the old one back in the fridge. Apparently my fridge had bigger issues than just the ice maker not working. He had a frank discussion with me saying he can keep ordering parts to completely fix the ice dispenser but in his personal opinion it wouldn't be worth it since the cost to repair the fridge would be more than buying a new fridge all together. I agreed and he said he'd eat the cost of the motherboard part and not even charge me for it OR HIS TIME AND SERVICE for this visit either! I cannot give Blue Fox Repair enough positive feedback! This is my 2nd time using Blue Fox Appliance Repair. Our 20 yr old Maytag washer stopped working. Kristian came out and found that the pump was broken. He gave us his honest advice that it wasn't worth fixing at this point, and recommended we get a new one. He even let us know that in his experience, Speed Queen was the best washer we could buy, as they also make commercial units for laundromats. I hardly ever leave Yelp reviews but Blue Fox totally deserves one! We've been having cooling issues with our fridge for several months now. First the freezer wouldn't keep things frozen, then the fridge wouldn't stay cold. We decided to call a repairman. Blue Fox was the ONLY company willing to give us a quote and check out our fridge. The other companies don't service Kenmore products because its made by LG. Kristian and Trish were so friendly, supportive, informative and helpful throughout the process! Kristian came to the house and patiently explained everything to me. He took his time and helped me understand about fridges. I learned so much about fridges! When he realized that it was a refrigerant leak (something that only AC companies could fix for a TON of money), he recommended that we buy a new fridge. My dryer was not working after an electrical storm. It was blinking and I was unable to turn it on or off. But after about 24 hours the dryer was working normally. But I still decided to have Blue Fox appliance come in and check it out. They were so honest and Couldn't really find anything wrong with it after several different inspections. They even inspected the wiring outside of the house and the inside of the house. It was money well spent I felt very confident and they were not trying to rip me off. Oh my stars ... these guys are great. Had a cooktop go out the week before Thanksgiving. Called Sears Repair. They came out, looked at it for 3 min and claimed they couldn't find the model number and left. I call Blue Fox, explained everything to Trish. This family owned business is the most honest and trustworthy I've ever encountered. A few years ago, I thought my microwave wasn't working. Kristian came out and pushed the door a certain way and the microwave was fine. I was embarassed, but he was so kind. No charge. Recently I have an oven that is not heating correctly. I called another applicance service and the technician told us to use a temperature guage my husband uses for his smoker for an hour and call him with the results. He charged us $65. When I called him to tell him the oven was heating 20 degrees lower, he never called back (I tried twice). I remembered Blue Fox from the microwave issue and Kristian came out. I told him what the other tech told us, but he proceeded to take the oven apart as best he could to diagnose the problem. He found that the oven needed to be pulled out completely to determine what kind of part I would need. He said that it was a two-person job and recommended another company he trusted. He would not accept any money even though he spent an hour on the oven. I will use Kristian for other appliances and I recommend you use him as well.
