I am continuing to get billed for services from over six months ago. Seems like their accounting system is catching up with EOBs from my insurer? It is hard, almost impossible, to reconcile at this point. Note: they called me to explain that my health insurer was processing the claims with a higher co-payment than what was initially communicated to me. So they were "automatically" billing me for the difference. And that they would waive the last invoice ($40) charging me for the difference. I sure hope I don't get another invoice from them later this year or next year. read more

Sharing my first appointment feedback: Met for a consult with Dr. Lasalle and staff on 1/16/2023 for recurring lower back pain. Scheduling representative was lovely. Front desk receptionist was also lovely. I arrived early and didn't wait very long before being seen. Ellie, Erica and Lydia were equally lovely and made me feel heard, explained processes and procedures to me for both best and worst case scenarios. Dr. Lasalle was kind and took his time with me, ultimately referring me for an MRI. Miguel was great for following up after I said I would self-schedule the MRI and it had taken longer than I expected to get an appointment. I will update this review after my next visit when I meet again with Dr. Lasalle to go over the MRI results. UPDATE 2/17/23 (as promised): Follow-up appt with Dr. Lasalle went well. I was given the option of getting an epidural (ESI) or managing my pain solely with PT and meds as needed. I chose to get the ESI as a friend gave me insight into her experience with it. So far, so good! No side effects and minimal pain. Also, excellent experience for my first physical therapy appt with Bella and Diana on the 1st floor. They evaluated me and walked me through everything. Made me feel heard and supported. read more

I had severe hip and leg pain from a serious fall down the Port Authority Subway steps and was rendered mostly immobile for 11 months last year. It was horrendous. In between my three-times-a-week PT appointments, I was referred to Hudson Medical to manage my at-the-time severe and debilitating pain. They saw me the first time, gave me a shot and unfortunately it didn't work. Rather than just letting that go and forcing me to go back to the drawing board on my own, they worked with me and we found the right pain treatment (epidural) that allowed me to be able to regain some mobility and allow my pain to be managed enough that I began to make real progress with my physical therapy. A full year later, I'm back to about 90% of where I was and I credit a lot of that to Hudson for helping me manage what was at the time, truly unbearable pain. Now, my dog and I are back to our 3 mile jaunts and I'm able to live my day-to-day life with minimal disruptions and only intermittent pain and discomfort. read more

I was happy with Dr. Lasalle and our initial sessions, but I have had a really disappointing experience with the administration. After a month of waiting to begin treatment, I was told there was a delay with the pharmacy preparing my medication. Essentially, upon inquiry the customer service representative told me it was a pharmacy issue and there was nothing that could be done. No calling the pharmacy to inquire about the delay, no offer to use another pharmarcy, no sense that they were particularly interested in the problem or solving it. When I asked if there was a practice manager I could speak to I was told via email I didn't need to speak to one. read more

My physical was fine. Kind of felt like an entry point to sell more services, which is OK. Office was pretty disorganized. I didn't hear results when they told me I would, and they really screwed up the insurance submission, which created more work for me, of course. It was fine, and I got what I needed, but not the best. read more

I would give a 0 star if it was possible. I brought my grandpa to this clinic for pain management and honestly the doctors are good. The problem are the medical assistant, especially the one called SJ. She was so rude to us, like my grandpa is coming to get medical help- and she refuses to answer any questions and she made his visit very uncomfortable. We are going to seek help from another clinic. It's so unfortunate because the providers are excellent but they really need to look into who they are hiring. read more

Holy cow. I've been dealing with 4 weeks of severe lethargy and fatigue. After running blood tests and deciding that my chronic fatigue syndrome was rearing it's ugly head, my doctor's recommendation was "rest and fluids" (wtf). Out of desperation and a suggestion from a friend, I reached out to Dr. Kuo to ask if he thought an IV infusion would be helpful. His office made me a same-day appt and treated me with a customized IV cocktail of vitamins and NAD. The infusion took about 40 minutes. I left feeling a little better (probably needed hydration in general) but woke up the next day and actually had the energy to do a proper HIIT workout which I haven't been able to do in weeks. Total gamechanger. I highly highly recommend the NAD infusion. Photo attached shows what my recovery has looked like over the past week (based on my Whoop fitness tracker). Friday afternoon was the infusion. My overnight recovery shot up remarkably and the only thing that changed was getting the infusion. My mind is blown! Thank you Dr. Kuo! read more

I have suffered from severe PTSD for decades. I'm very privileged to say that working with Dr. Kuo has changed my life. If you have PTSD, you know the symptoms range from physical pain, to sleep disturbance, to difficulty choosing to stay alive. The series of Stellate Ganglion Block procedures I've done with Dr. Kuo has generated some of the most positive impacts on my PTSD of anything I've ever tried (and I promise you I have tried, and stuck with, everything). The SGBs have had profound effects on my nervous system: my sleep is normal, my hyper-vigilance symptoms are lower, and I struggle less with dissociation. The biggest relief, perhaps, is how rarely I struggle with SI anymore. I have had to repeat the SGB procedure several times -- I don't think anything in life is going to permanently erase PTSD. But each time my baseline is better, I'm in my window of tolerance more often, and the results last longer. I'm able to use therapy for processing and integrating instead of constant crisis management. This isn't a miracle cure, but it's easily one the most valuable tools in my toolkit now. They have a friendly & efficient staff with inviting & clean office spaces. I've have been seen for a variety of treatments ranging from a neck epidural, PRP for my knee, Carpal tunnel injection for my wrist and RFA ablations for my neck. I have seen improvements quickly and long lasting from these treatments. I also had great improvement on my neck & shoulder issues with the physical therapy team. Dr Kuo & staff really takes time to listen to your needs and provides great feedback with different treatment options. BE WARNED: IF YOU TO GO TO HUDSON MEDICAL GROUP ALL pain patients, present or potential, should possess a comprehensive understanding of their conditions and insurance coverage, in addition to an ability to coordinate one's symptomatology in conjunction with the company's two week billing cycle. (Idk about you but, last I checked, my pain cycle goes where it goes, as it does, for the most part). And further, be prepared to dilly-dally with ridiculous policies requiring time spent scheduling additional visits for paperwork requests, medication refills overlooked from a visit JUST completed (!), and the like, just more egregious. After 2.5 years, Dr. LaSalle has offered little to no mutually satisfactory improvement in my pain management care. He has on the other hand managed to bill for a HUGE number of separate, discrete administrative policy driven services that, multiplied by the sheer number of Medicaid and Medicare patients purported to be served at Hudson Medical alone would yield a VERY hefty annual return, at your, THE PATIENT'S BODILY expense (and financial, if co-pay). Among the many synonyms for commerce wherein a good or service is exchanged for direct payment or third party proxy, parasitism is not among these. For anyone living with chronic pain hoping to improve, you will be in pain anyway, your condition will degrade in the interest of further pain management and the economic gain of others. For anyone who studies history, this is actually a very well-defined micro-model of authoritarianism. But what do I know, I'm just a substitute teacher. read more

So back in 2007 I had a heart attack due to cancer and flipped my car so badly that I walked away with 8 compression fractured. There's no reason I should be alive considering the condition of the car. But I am. For three years I was basically bed ridden;cancer pain was one thing, but not walking because my spine hurt to move even slightly was even more horrific. I had no quality of life and am not ashamed to say I didn't want to live in that way. I tried many doctors who wouldn't help because of my having had cancer and my immune system being in slow recovery. I remember a long shot visit to this manhattan office that my mother had to drive me to because I couldn't drive when I could barely walk. I sat across from Dr. Kuo crying (literal tears) saying it hurts and no one wants to help and I don't want to live if this is how life will be here on out. I remember the most amazing thing a person has ever done for me, a doctor yes, but he got up from his desk and walked around and put his hand on my shoulder and said, "I'm gonna help you today", and it was the most human bit of compassion that has changed my life ever since. Jonathann Kuo, MD., is an extraordinary man. Before cancer I've been fortunate to meet pretty extraordinary people, pretty much the entire White House admin under Clinton, movie stars and the like.... so I know extraordinary people when I meet them. Dr. Kuo has set up a pain management facility that is absolutely unrivaled and his expansion into two other clinics (3 total to date) at his young age literally makes him a phenom, a brilliant genius. He's changing the way traditional and interventional pain management has been done for years. It's not just him though; his ability to find the doctors and ancillary staff that equal him in compassion and skill, make him a great CEO. I drive over 45 miles to see him and Dr. Rances. I've been honest with them about my issues with opioids, and NEVER have I felt the ire of judgement from anyone, it was always more of a "well let's see what we can do to help you, and not create a situation where you are opioid depended again". It is always just honest and medical and compassionate. I went to another guy because I moved over 75 miles even further, and not only did this other anesthesiologist/pain doctor know of Hudson Medical, but I could hear by his questions about the practice that he was not only well aware of hudson medical, but envious about how Kuo has been able to accomplish as much as he has, I could actually feel envy coming from him. I had to leave this other guys practice because his main draw for clients was endless opioid prescriptions, and that's not what I needed. I needed that hand on my shoulder when no one else would help, and say that throughout everything, they'll be there for me so I never had to feel like life was not worth living because of spinal pain. That's what I needed. So then I started driving 110 miles and over the GWB paid $60 for parking, for two years. Because when you find platinum standard, that's what you do. I've gone into the office and heard naysayers, and I'm sure there are some because I see 3.5 stars., and I've heard people complain about wait times??!?!?! Well, outside of Hudson Medical, you have to book an office visit first, then a second appointment at a medical center and get dressed in a gown and it feels like you're about to have major surgery, and post-op is also about 45 minutes. That's what other interventional pain management offices do, that's how they run, and even though Hudson Medical May feel like a "mill", it's ability to see you same day, have a consult, and a procedure, in a safe, sterile, and compassionate environment is just unheard of. At least anywhere here in NY. Believe me I've looked. And it's not a "mill", it's actually just brilliantly executed efficient quick medical pain management service. So, since My becoming a patient at Hudson medical, life and my quality of life became important to me again and have had an extraordinary life. Dr. Kuo and Dr. Rances, are my favorite celebrities, at least to me they are celebrities, because every day I live without pain is a day I celebrate that i can rejoice in a life of quality again. And if you happen to make friends with Twinnie at the front desk, or any of the front desk staff, they'll keep you laughing with jokes all day even through this pandemic. I highly recommend the Hudson Medical associates practice. I also know that if you're just honest about your issues, you'll get the right help, and life can be worth it again. And be a patient, patient, cuz no where else are you gonna get faster and better service. read more

Total insurance Scam. This review is only for the (WELLNESS) bottom floor which offers physical therapy to Hudson Medical patients. Dr. Diane Chen and her team gave me a bill for $900.00 charging me for physical therapy I didn't have, I called them and said I didn't have this therapy, and their response was don't worry about it "we just charge the insurance." Let me repeat.. $900 for a 20 min conversation a massage but no therapy! I've been a patient at Hudson Medical visiting a doctor I really love and was totally shocked by "Hudson Wellness." read more

I've been coming here for some years and have always been happy. There is a no-nonsense feeling to the practice while everyone is very polite and attentive. Their phone service has improved which used to be my only complaint. I now know that emailing is definitely the fastest way to communicate. Miguel and Twinnie, to name a few front desk people, have always gotten back to me in a timely fashion. I've never had to wait long for an appointment and seldom had to wait once I arrived. My introduction was initially to the very caring Dr Bonte (who has since moved on), and later to the very innovative Dr Pitts (more recently left the practice). They both helped me a lot. Currently, Dr Shen is treating me; she is amazing in her own way. All the doctors take the extra time to explain things. They treat each patient as an individual. Thank you! read more

Dr La sale is horrible I wanted to inject my knee with cortisone I told him that does nut work for me I asked him To please do PRP instead he says to me in a make another appointment I don't have time for this the nerve of his man!! I'm in severe pain so I got angry and I said I want another doctor so then they sent it another doctor to do the PRP for me then the next appointment I had they dismissed or the office they refused to give me my medication they gave no referral this place is awful alot of doctors have left this practice that says a lot this place is a rip off don't come here !! read more

For transparency, I gave this business a 5 star review about 4 years ago, but I wanted to update it, because somehow, they have manged to up their game with new doctors, treatments and personnel. Lets start with the basics 1. Dr Alexander Rances has been and will always will be my favorite doctor in NYC (and my best friend is a doctor). If nothing else, his calm bedside manner and compassion to want you to get better is second to none, so no matter what the outcome of your treatment, you will not have wasted your time. Add to this his vast knowledge in many fields of pain management, headaches, cbd treatment, etc, and you have one of the best doctors in NYC (and I only say this because I have never needed to see Dr Kuo, who by all reviews, is just as good 2. Back Office - while NYC generally has some of the best medical personnel available, I have found that a majority of their support staff are disorganized, rude and uncaring. Nothing can be further from the truth at Hudson Medical. I have had the pleasure of dealing with Twinnie, who is the Queen of getting insurance coverage in addition to helping you make appointments and optimizing your time. The front desk is always pleasant and any follow-up that I have ever needed has been dealt with efficiently and professionally thru both their portal and support staff 3. Dr Pitts - the primary purpose of this update is to review Dr Thomas Pitts, who is the relatively new neurologist whose work complements that of Dr Kuo and Rances. He is a young, cutting edge neurologist, who will go the extra mile to help with both a diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Jacob LaSalle is a wizard ("magic's just science we don't understand yet" - Arthur C. Clark), he provided an accurate diagnosis and talked me through every available treatment option. He answered every one of my questions without hesitation and took the utmost care of me during my minimally invasive procedures. Dr. Kuo might be very smart in his training but I'm very disappointed by the way he couldn't listen with his heart when I explained my pain. Just a total lack of empathy. So I don't get how he got praises from past patients saying he cares & listen. I found him rushing into just giving medicine & shots. Then he would quickly move on to his next patients. I was referred to Dr. Thomas Pitts for pain in my lower extremities. I can't begin to explain how fantastic he is--I've been to a lot of doctors over the years and he is the best in terms of interaction with patients that I've ever encountered. He is smart, warm, and a good listener. I'm dealing with a condition that's disruptive and a little scary, and he's explained every step of the way what the options are in the most understandable, caring way. I also want to commend the office staff, who are VERY helpful and kind. I've had great experiences all around. I especially want to mention Twinnie Xu, who on several occasions has gone to great lengths to help me with complex scheduling and approval processes. She clearly loves to help patients!! I had been going to physical therapy for back and neck pain; but I was not seeing any results. I was referred to a pain management doctor who worked with the N.Y. Rangers. I would sit in his waiting room for an hour plus and maybe see him for five minutes. Then be given another appointment at another location with a hostile staff to get an injection to relieve the pain for a few days. If I needed another treatment I would have to go through the vicious cycle again. I was sent by my primary to see Dr. Kuo. The office was not congested and there was no waiting time. I saw a PA and then Dr. Kuo who listened to me. They made a plan for treatments to free me of my neck and back pain. I have seen some positive results. The staff is kind and professional. I have seen him regularly and Dr. Kuo remembers small details that I shared previously. Dr. Kuo cares about his patients and wants to help them. The turning point was being asked to participate in a clinical trial to relieve me of neck pain which kept me up at night. This also included visiting the camp twice a week, which consisted of physical therapy, acupuncture, chiropractor and massage therapy. After a few weeks of peeling the onion physically I saw the results I always hoped for. I was able to do the things I loved doing. The staff at the camp is amazing and I always looked forward to going. Great place to come if you are not getting the results you need. read more

I had arthroscopic surgery and then physical therapy on my shoulder. It was supposed to be no problem but I had very limited movement . I was athletic and it was devastating. I was being offered very expensive solutions that were not guaranteed to work. Dr Kuo was able to all those solutions but also had a full arsenal of alternatives. He had gel shots and other options that we tried. Each one helped but also helped us focus on what would really work. It wasn't an easy process and I wasn't the easiest patient. But he has stuck with me. And meanwhile medicine keeps improving. And he showed up during covid to give me a shot that was needed so my bones don't rub against each other .
