While I appreciate the facility's commitment to safety, I believe this policy may benefit from review in certain circumstances. My five-year-old is slightly under 48 inches tall and is a capable swimmer but he was still given a yellow bracelet because of his height. During our recent visit, a staff member (she seemed to be the one in charge) told us about the arm's length requirement while my son was playing in the shallow toddler pool area, which only reaches ankle depth. I fully support close supervision requirements in deeper water or for infants and young toddlers. However, the current policy creates some practical challenges in the toddler pool area: 1. The shallow depth of the toddler pool presents minimal risk for older children who can swim. 2. Multiple parents attempting to maintain arm's length proximity in a confined space leads to congestion and difficulty navigating around one another. Which can make things even more difficult trying to keep an eye on your child and your child's constant movement when you have a parent in front of you trying to keep an eye on their child. 3. The policy becomes impossible to enforce when children use the toddler play structure and mini slides, where parents cannot physically maintain arm's length distance. Maybe some parents can fit going up the structure, but we certainly cannot fit going down the slide. We would have to go back down the steps of the play structure and then try to get to our child who most certainly is farther away from us because kids do not sit still. I believe a modified policy that considers both the child's swimming ability and the water depth would better serve families while maintaining appropriate safety standards. Perhaps children who demonstrate swimming competency could be permitted greater independence in ankle-deep water, while maintaining stricter supervision requirements in deeper areas.

All competitive lanes were closed for swimming even though they were advertised as open online. :( I have yet to see the diving boards used as they appear to be permanently shut down. Also, please, be very careful when you come and go. Every single time I have been there, someone has slipped and/or fallen on the facility's wet floors in the entryway. No cash is accepted...you will need to pay electronically. Lap swimming (link) is available by reservation only Monday - Thursday (drop-ins are permitted on a space-available basis but be aware that the lane you pay for may be shared with another swimmer). Entertainment - 5/5 Facilities - 3/5…read more We signed my 4-year old daughter for swim lessons and this place has been great. Their staff is incredibly friendly. It only took my girl 3 lessons to go from being scared in the water to floating in the bathtub. The staff also do a great job giving parents updates and making the kids feel special when they move to the next level. The pool itself is also nice and big - with a large space for the young kids to learn while the older kids have three lanes to do real swimming in. They also offer affordable camps and have a shop with ample swim gear. I also like that parents have the option of sitting at the pool deck to really be up close and personal with their kids. That said, there are things to improve. They really jam a lot of people in there, so social distancing for the kids in COVID is basically impossible (especially those in the swimming lanes). It also often takes 20 minutes or more to get out because so many classes end at the exact same time and there simply isn't enough space to accommodate about 40 people trying to shower and change at once. The locker room in general could use a big upgrade as there are far too few changing stalls and toilets for the amount of people. At a bare minimum, it would be great if they had one or two of those swimsuit driers so we didn't have to cart wet gear home. But again, the main theme is that there is an awesome staff, nice pool, and great lessons. The service can't be beat!.

February 2025: $240 for six lessons. $80 an hour for kids swim lessons at a local, county run aquatics center? No thank you. Go to the Prince William Aquatics Center at Colgan High School. For the same price as one hour at Chinn you can get a full month of lessons at Colgan. It has better, newer facilities and happy staff.

It's unclear whether the business is officially registered, which made it even harder to get clarity or support when issues arose. If you're looking for a structured, professional environment for your child, one where accountability, communication, and coaching quality are a priority you may want to explore other options. We signed up for private swim classes for my 3-year-old at KIDS FIRST Swim School in Springfield…read more Before starting, we clearly explained that our son is not used to new adults and that we wanted the same instructor consistently so he could feel comfortable and build trust. Unfortunately, almost every week there was a cancellation or instructor change. Out of 6 classes, my son had about 5 different instructors. For a young child who needs consistency, this was very stressful. Each class felt like starting over because he had to adjust to a new adult again, so there was little to no improvement. After about 3 weeks, I complained to the head instructor. Instead of listening or helping, he seemed frustrated and raised his voice back at me, basically saying he already knew. That was very disappointing. My biggest concern is that they require families to schedule private lessons far in advance, but they could not provide a consistent instructor for the set day and time. We chose private lessons specifically for consistency, and they did not deliver that. For families with very young children, especially children who need time to get comfortable with new people, I would not recommend this location for private lessons. It ended up being a huge waste of time and money for us.

Does your kid have a swim diaper on? They could even ask every baby's parent this. The other issue I have is the lack of consistency with teachers. I don't think we saw the same teacher twice. And every time they ask me the same question: how old is your son? Maybe he should be moved up to the other class? And then six lessons in and I feel like we're still at square one so honestly, I don't feel like it's worth the amount you have to pay to get consistency and progress.

My oldest wanted to take the swim test so he could independently go off the board, which he did and passed. The pool also has a whole room of floats, noodles, and other toys to play with. If our pool was not within walking distance, I'd definitely consider this as a great option!
