We truly enjoyed our stay at this Marriott Vacations club location. First, the property is set…read morebetween the 2 major streets in Waikiki: Kalakaua and Kuhio. Easy travel to anywhere within Waikiki. Second, the rooms are well curated for a relaxing environment: large tv's in every room, comfy couch, large dining table, fully stocked/tech forward kitchen, large freezer/fridge, excellent bed, huge bathroom with double sinks and a walk-in shower with separate tub. Ooh! They also had a nicer bidet/washlet than other places. Plus, the layout of the room was perfect. Circular. Meaning, we could walk in one direction and would be in every single room without stopping. We just really enjoyed the conveniences within our room. One of the coolest things is that on each floor, right beside the elevator is a bar faucet. A faucet that could fill a water bottle or pitcher of a few options: filtered cold water, hot water, carbonated water, and maybe one more. We are very excited to visit this location again next year.

But, the hotels response was ridiculous! 3 strips of outlets run by an electric generator for a hotel with 3 towers of rooms is unsat. They ran out quickly before someone figured out they should switch to a gas generator. That morning, they told us to get coffee from Starbucks, but walking there in the dark we found Starbucks not even open. The maintenance guy called food and beverage to put out some complimentary coffee but that never arrived. So we spent the day in Kīhei while they figured stuff out here in Kaanapali. After the entire day, we made it back and only the smallest of the three pools was able to be turned on, with far too many people in it then the next message we get is that there's an issue with HVAC, so we spent the night sweating instead of sleeping since the ventilation was blowing warm air. And opening your room window just let in hotter more humid air. Needless to say the maintenance team didn't have the skills to get their ship righted and we paid for it in discomfort. The front desk staff likely took the brunt of the heat, but they didn't seem to field the complaints very well judging by the several exchanges I watched while waiting in line for 13 minutes with only 1 clerk for a line that started with 2 that grew to 9. No urgency or backup at the counter so the audience grew while we all witnessed complaining and a poor response by the staff. The views are amazing though!

I was hoping to stay in the Napili Tower, mainly because I liked the pool area better--longer, more spread out, and largely oceanfront. That said, the Lahaina Tower ended up having its own perks. The biggest one is that it's right next to the self-parking structure that's used for the whole resort, which makes coming and going incredibly easy. If you're staying in the Napili tower, self-parking is all the way on the other side and I would recommend using valet instead to save you the walk. Our room was spacious and comfortable, technically "oceanfront," though it felt more like oceanview. Still, no complaints--the view was lovely, and the room itself had a convenient kitchenette with a fridge, sink, and all the basics (plates, utensils, etc.), which made snack time quick and easy. The Lahaina Tower also has its own smaller pool area, plus a few fun extras like ping pong and foosball. It's also right by Longhi's, if you're looking for an easy meal. If you want more action, the main pool area--with the large, winding pool and additional dining options--is just a short walk away. The weather during our stay wasn't the best--it was actually pretty chilly by Maui standards following the heels of two major storms--but we still had a great time. Between the comfortable room, convenient location, and easy access to everything on property, it made for a relaxed and low-effort getaway. While the resort may not be the newest, we really like the main pool area. I'll definitely opt for the Lahaina/Napili towers again next time. This is a great resort, especially for families looking for a laid-back Maui stay with nice views and plenty to do.

During the day, they were using jack hammer type near us so we had to go to the pool. Nice and quite over there. Now, there are no dryer and washer. You need to use the community ones. Ours were less than 5 minutes away. Also, no cooktops. You also need to use community kitchen. You do have own set of pots and pans and dishes in the unit. Starbucks on site but very busy. You can order food and drink using the app and be delivered to your table. Longhi restaurant on site but the Ohana discount card doesn't work and you can do a room charge if the system works. Have a gift shop for some prepackaged food, drinks and convenience items. The resort is almost touching the ocean with plenty of clean endless beaches, cabanas you can reserve and plenty of beach chairs. Highly recommend!

Our stay at the Marriott Maui Ocean Club was extremely disappointing and far below the standards…read moreMarriott advertises. From check in, the experience went downhill. The front desk staff was curt and uninterested, and when we arrived at our room the door was left ajar. Both bathrooms had completely empty soap, shampoo, and conditioner dispensers, which is unacceptable for any hotel, especially Marriott. Used towels we left on the floor expecting replacement sat untouched day after day. Only after contacting the front desk did we learn housekeeping was scheduled only for Friday even though we arrived on Monday, and no one mentioned this at check in. For a seven night stay, having housekeeping only once makes no sense, and the room was stocked with only two days of coffee supplies. Every request for basic items required multiple calls and couple of hours of waiting. Then came the hurricane, and the hotel's response was chaotic and unprepared. Guests were without power for nearly two days, and the resort offered only three power strips of generator powered outlets for three towers of rooms. The generator drained quickly before anyone switched to a gas generator. Most rooms have full size refrigerators, yet no ice was offered to help guests keep food from spoiling. No one could brew coffee, and and instead of offering complimentary coffee , we were told to go to Starbucks (which was closed). Instead of accommodating guests during the crisis, Marriott appeared to capitalize on it. With the west side of the island unexpectedly out of power and guests unable to cook, the hotel sold hot dogs and hamburgers for over $20 each. Even at that price, guests waited more than an hour, and the staff preparing the food looked overwhelmed and frustrated. Offering reasonably priced food would have been the right thing to do, but Marriott chose profit over compassion. When power finally returned at 5pm the following day, only the smallest pool was returned to operation and was overcrowded. Then we were told the HVAC was down. We spent yet another night sweating in a room, with no fans offered. Opening the window only made the room hotter. Between the power outage and HVAC failure, we lost 2 of our 7 nights, nearly 30 percent of our vacation, to completely unrestful and uncomfortable sleep. This stay was nowhere near Marriott-described standards, and guests deserved far better than what was provided.

If you have a terrible experience, in no way will Marriott do anything to investigate or reconcile. Now that I looked my last year experience was even worse. We were in a room and endured construction work during our entire stay. No refund, no compensation, we didn't even get a return phone call. Crazy too since we have little to no problems at any of the mainland Marriotts, just their island locations. I don't believe whoever Ryan is, is in fact a real person, and if he was and his job was to smooth anything over with unhappy clients, he should be fired. 2 for 2 on poor experiences at locations that are actually really are nice facilities. Being that we stay at least 2-3 days out of every month in some sort of hotel, resort, or airBnB, why is Marriott having such a hard time and none of the other places? Last, I see why we are moving toward automated front desks. Either their policies make the desk the way they are, or there is nobody on the island that can do their jobs. The front desk is so important, and why at my business we take it so seriously. You'd think Marriott would too.

Folks parking in one tandem spot. In essence taking up two spaces. Distance wise - it's a1/2 hour drive from and return to KOA. In previous trips we stayed in Kailua-Kona. The AC system in the hotel did have some issues near the end of my stay so it never really cooled off in my room. The hotel gave me a discounted rate and comped the resort fee for two of the nights since I complained. Enjoyed one of the hotel pools and grounds while I was there. Overall a really nice stay.

The furniture had scrapes and scratches all over. None of the direct buttons on the phone worked and they admitted so when I called the front desk. The AC is super loud. The light on the vanity mirror didn't work. The bathroom only has paper cups. We requested room slippers three times before they finally brought them to the room. The tv remote took several button presses to work. The sheets are a bit scratchy for the price you're paying. Food on property is just average. We ended up dining at the other more upscale resorts in Wailea instead of on property. The service all around except for the slippers issue was great but this hotel needs a major refresh.

We also brought our service dog on this trip and the staff were great about it. We didn't have any issues. The service was excellent from start to finish, and our room was incredibly comfortable. One thing we appreciated this time was being able to use the outdoor grills. Since we weren't staying in a villa, we called the front desk and asked if they could send us plates and silverware, and they were happy to accommodate us. A couple of helpful things to know: there are no microwaves in the guest rooms, but there is a communal microwave located in the laundry room. The hotel also provides complimentary laundry detergent, and there are two washers and two dryers available for guests, which was a nice convenience. The pool and hot tubs were clean, relaxing, and a great place to unwind after a day of exploring. We also had breakfast at the restaurant every morning, and the highlight was seeing Roxane again. She remembered us from our previous stay and greeted us with a warm smile each morning. Her kindness and genuine hospitality made us feel so welcome and was the perfect way to start each day. As Chairman's Level owners, we expected a much higher standard from The Westin Ka'anapali Ocean…read moreResort Villas, but this stay was incredibly disappointing. When we arrived, our villa contained power tools, dirty dishes, and had clearly not been properly prepared for guests. What was even more frustrating was that it took three separate face-to-face visits with both the front desk and management before the room was finally cleaned. Communication throughout the process was poor, and we never felt that anyone took real ownership of the issue. The only compensation offered was a $50 resort credit, which did not reflect the inconvenience or the time we spent trying to resolve a problem that should never have existed. Beyond our room, both the villas and many of the common areas felt worn, dingy, and lacking the level of care we have come to expect from the Westin brand. The most disappointing aspect of our stay wasn't simply the condition of the property--it was the apparent lack of urgency and concern from management. We have always associated Westin with quality, service, and attention to detail. Unfortunately, this experience fell well below those expectations. We hope management takes these concerns seriously because loyal owners and guests deserve much better.

When discussed with the staff, they said if there is any sight of the ocean, it is deemed an ocean view. Most hotels call it a "partial view" so that would be a more fair description. Make sure that you get your ocean view and not the first floor. Otherwise, the pools were nice and access to the beach was good. The ability to cook in the kitchen was very nice as well Out of all the properties in Ka'anapali, this may have been our least favorite.

We were here for a 10 day stay. We stayed in a 3 bedroom unit with ocean view. The unit was really…read morenice and clean. Kitchen had basic dishes and utensils to use. Master bathroom was nice, the other 2 bedrooms were both identical. We did notice the one furthest down the hall was warmer than the others. Full bath off the other 2 bedrooms was massive and had washer/dryer combo. Our lanai was amazing. Nice and big and had a spectacular view that overlooked the walking path and the beach/ocean. I will note there were a lot of wasps that were building nests but they left us alone for the most part. Pool- We stayed June 27-July 6, it was fairly busy. You have towel cards that allow you to get resort towels. You can exchange these towels whenever you want during the day for either towel cards or fresh towels. *TIP* before you leave the pool for the day turn in your towels in for new ones so you have them early. Towel hut doesn't open until 8. Pool chairs- In the morning until noon chairs are monitored. If you leave your stuff they come around and tag it. If you aren't there when they come back, they take your stuff to the towel area and keep it there for you to pick up. This helps prevent chair saving. There were a few incidents where we got chairs and then we had an awkward encounter with someone whose belongings had been removed by staff (we didn't know because when we arrived the chairs were empty). There were also times when I left to take a child to go to the bathroom and came back and my chairs had been tagged, which was annoying but not an issue. I just gave them the tag back when they came back. People will still save seats- you just kind of have to have someone stay with it until people from your group arrive. We did notice that some people that were using the pool/ chairs were not actual guests of the resort. They had non resort towels. One family even told us they just walk along the walk way and then decide which resort pool to spend time at. There's no wristbands so I'm not sure how they really can enforce it. It was very frustrating on 4th of July. It seemed there were MANY people at the pool and grill area that were not actually staying at the resort. Pools are nice. They get warmer throughout the day and kind of cloudy from everyone's sunscreen. We saw a piece of poop floating one day and we're super grossed out by that. They have a nice splash pad/shallow area for the kids and a "pebble bottom" pool with small water slide for kids as well. Pool bar restaurant is over priced and not very good. Apparently there's some sort of soda pads you can buy. We didn't do it but I overheard people talking about it. They have activities free and paid through the days. Just check the schedule. We only did the fish feeding one. 2x a week there was a little market set up along the walking path. There's a bin that people put things like floaties, boogie boards, sand toys that they bought but are not taking back home with them. It's by the pool. We got so many things from there: pool noodles, sand toys, boogie boards etc. it was my son's favorite adventure. He would check 2x a day. When we were done with the things at the end of our trip, we put them in the bin so others could enjoy them too! Really awesome idea and saved us a bunch of $$ not having to buy a ton of stuff. Beach- The beach was nice. There are chairs you can rent. It gets pretty windy. The waves weren't too bad during our visit. Snorkeling is literally right off the beach. There's a pretty steep drop off right away. We saw so many colorful fish, sea turtles. Saw dolphins from our lanai one morning as well as sting rays! One day a Monk seal came up on the beach which was cool to see! We spent most days at the pool. Housekeeping/ maintenance: Our son unfortunately had a little too much sun, pool water and sea water and threw up one night. He's little and terrified of throwing up. He missed the toilet and then the realization that we had no cleaning supplies and it was midnight hit us. We called the front desk and they sent two angels (very quickly) who would not let me clean it no matter how many times I asked to clean it. They cleaned it up and made sure everything was disinfected. I felt so bad but they were very reassuring and kind. We had some shower head issues in the master and the other bathroom. We called and within 20 minutes they were at our room and had it fixed. Same with a flusher issue. They were so quick to come and solve the issue. It was a wonderful vacation and we enjoyed it so much!

I am not really a resort guy so I can't speak to the pool or other services here. I am all about the beach. This hotel has an incredible one. There is a coral reef right there! It offers you the chance to do incredible snorkeling any time right outside your room. I had an amazing sea turtle encounter! You are supposed to stay ten feet away from them and not be above them. They only post that warning in one spot. I wish I had seen that sign before running into the little dude as I definitely passed over him. It was really special and we've got to respect these incredible animals! The reef isn't the only way the hotel really lets you experience some of the island on site. The Big Wave shaved ice in the lobby is also some of the best you can have. As far as the rooms, in addition to stoves and washer/dryer, Westin beds are always exceptional. The staff here was also beyond on point. The parking valet was super quick and whenever I needed a quick item from the pantry the front desk handed it right over. I would come back here in a second. We loved the swimming pools, especially sitting under the waterfall to get a free shoulder massage, then alternating with the hot spa for a back massage. The hot then cold combo is great for the muscles. Towels are free, along with suntan cream so make sure you use them. There were so many burned people at the pool. Love the Ritz pools, adults only areas and kiddos areas to keep everyone happy. Fantastic pools, beautifully scenic views, you really can't beat it!

If you're going to splurge on photos, I definitely think it's worth doing here. My only reason for not giving it five stars is more about the location than the resort itself. Maui has so much to see and do, and I found this side of the island to be a little windier than I would have preferred. After experiencing different parts of Maui, I think I would personally choose the Kaanapali area going forward. I found it a little more convenient for what I like to do and the overall vibe for me was just better.

Pros: Beautiful rooms with very few inconveniences. List in cons! Beautiful pool area and landscaping. Also a few cons! Downtown Kīhei and Wailea not too far my car and more beaches and restaurants to go to. Favorite restaurants: Isana, you can walk to. Beach club, nice staff, good drinks, and great coconut shrimp. Threes, in town, great staff (ask for Josh) and food. Nalu, great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. 30 min walk or short drive. Great happy hour, ahi tacos the best. Monkey pod, but I like the one in Kaanapali best, better views. Salesman Dan Hunter was respectful and informative for our update, not pushy! Beaches nearby: Polo beach, great boardwalk along resorts in Wailea. Keālia Pond National Wildlife Refuge, you can walk the wooden bridge and then the beach. You can walk the beach all along Kīhei, even across the street, it just isn't easy in some areas. Cons: Need a car! The adult pool at the resort was cloudy and dirty from the pigeon's. Never saw them cleaning the pool until we complained the third day. Then they tried to clean it better l, especially after our review and we complained again. They need to do something about the pigeons before it gets better. The other pools were pristine. You rarely see a pool attendant, no help moving chairs or umbrellas. Only the adult pool area have nice comfortable covers, about 25, the rest are very uncomfortable. Wore down crappy cabanas with dirty covers, no TV's working or refrigerators, not that I would use them, but if you have them they should be in working order. Complained to Chanel, day manager who didn't seemed too concerned. She did come down and looked but no feedback expect pool service did seem to improve, just not resolved. The grab and go is really just a small fast food restaurant, no food only drinks. Are room was great except for dirty floors from something they put on them (photo with stain from wet foot). Moldy shower walls (photo). Cabinet in front of sink has a handle I hit my head on each time I wash dishes. Washer very loud!

I'm…read moregiving the property five stars, especially because of the exceptional staff and how accommodating they were when Storm Lala hit at the end of our stay. A special thank you to Shermila, the front desk manager. When the storm affected our plans, she was incredibly friendly, helpful, and able to accommodate us for an additional night in the same room. During what could have been a stressful situation, she made everything much easier for us. We really appreciated her kindness and professionalism. Pros: The staff throughout the property were very friendly and welcoming. The resort did not feel overcrowded, which made for a relaxing stay. Our room was modern, spacious, and comfortable, with a full-size kitchen that was great to have. There are a few areas that could use improvement. Housekeeping could benefit from additional training and attention to detail, as the room cleaning was not as thorough as we would have expected. The patio furniture also appeared as though it had not been cleaned in a very long time, possibly since the property opened. Unfortunately, it was dirty enough that we did not feel comfortable sitting outside and enjoying the patio. Another disappointment was the food situation. The website indicates there is a kitchen on site, but there are actually no restaurants at the property, including by the pool, and there is no real breakfast option. There is a bar across the street with limited hours that serves bar food, as well as a grab-and-go area. We received a coupon for the grab-and-go, but the options with the coupon were extremely limited. We were only able to order a premade McMuffin-style breakfast sandwich, while the other items were not eligible with the coupon. Despite these areas for improvement, we are still giving our stay five stars because of the friendly staff and, most importantly, the way Shermila and the front desk team took care of us during a difficult situation with the storm. That level of service made a lasting impression and was very much appreciated.
