We stayed at the Ritz for my husband's work event. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and they held our bags while I took a walk on the coastal walk and called me when the room was ready. The staff brought our bags up quickly after and set up our bags. There are two closets and a mini fridge in between. They also have a safe in a very unique area. The bathroom is large with a separate toilet room however due to the layout the shower is a bit small - not conducive for shaving your legs.

So I know that I said I would not ever come back in 2013 so now it's 2026 and we are back so far so Good we we're upgraded to an partial ocean view Staff very friendly and accommodating There gym is very spacious and well equipped too. Room Is comfortable and air conditioning works well.

On our first morning here we called the Montage to see if they had any rooms available. They said they get that a lot from Ritz Kapalua guests. For reference, I would put properties like Dove Mountain Ritz or Niko Japan Ritz at a 10 in terms of overall experiences. If we're using those as the standard, the Ritz at Kapalua gets rated a 3. (For reference we are Marriott Ambassador and Titanium Elite, respectively) The pros: Located at Makaluapuna point in Kapalua, there is excellent whale watching from the cliffs. There's Oneloa beach next door with Ironwood cliffs for a nice daily walk. The cons: The folks staying here act like they've never been anywhere. Truly abhorrent behavior. This is not your home, this is a public space. Act accordingly. As a result, I think the staff are just fresh out from dealing with entitled haoles and it shows. I dont blame them but the Aloha is severely lacking as a result. It's noticeable and a bummer. When we arrived at 10 pm, the valet asked us if we wanted a cart for our luggage. At a Ritz its customary to have an associate who handles getting luggage to your room. Strange first impression that made sense as time went on. Many of the associates seem like they are temp or maybe new. The rooms are TIRED. Like 20 years past their prime tired. Room cleaning is at an absolute minimum. Turn down service is literally pulling one corner of your bed sheet down and closing the curtains. I think they are understafffed. This location needs to shut down and and undergo a major reboot and probably needs new management. The restaurants are very mediocre and the prices are absurd. At the spa, we had to endure listening to a DJ blast Soula Boy remixes in the outdoor relaxation area like it was Cancun on Spring Break. Once again, did I mention how poorly behaved the guests are? This was the worst part of the experience by far. Ive generally avoided hotels in the islands preferring a private home rental and I will absolutely avoid this one in the future. The brand name should represent something, but here it does not. Dont waste your resources here. If there had been anywhere else on the island to stay this week, we would have.

The staff has been more than incredible here! Everyone working in sync has been making this 4 night stay amazing and so pleasurable! I can't thank the staff enough for making sure that everything is perfect. The resort is perfect for a family get a way or planning the next big step in your life! All of the event halls are nice and beautiful with so many other amenities you and your guest will have so much to do! They have activities planned out for you every day. With more excursions you can plan out with their guest resource staff! Look forward to so many exciting things! I can guarantee that you won't be disappointed!

Stayed here for 1 night this past weekend and it was a pleasant time considering we used 70,400 points for our stay! We got upgraded to an ocean view room (plus pool view) when we initially had a lanai room, thank you Grace! 6th floor in room 1622. Some great things we experienced: - so hot during the day so we used the pool at night around 7:30pm when no one was around and we had all pools to ourselves! - even the hot tub had no one so we lucked out - golf carts to take us from front lobby to the private beach - 2 beach chairs and umbrella set up for us hotel guests at the beach, but no kid toys - no kids club on site so no special kids amenities or complimentary welcome toys - valet parking only $65 per night - nice ocean views from the lobby area, great for photos - property is huge, bicycles available to borrow to ride around the neighborhood - welcome necklaces upon arrival - welcome fresh towel upon arrival - lei making class for free but sign up early It was a lovely stay but I have to say the panoramic ocean view rooms from the high floors of the Hilton Vacation Club a couple miles south are way nicer the ocean views of the Ritz. Mahalo for the stay!

Amazing hospitality as always, private beach, clean rooms and peaceful location. For the price the rooms and service can be better though. You can't go wrong staying at this Ritz otherwise.

This hotel was absolutely fantastic! We really loved the service they provided throughout our stay. Honestly, we had such a wonderful time from start to finish. The staff made us feel so welcome and taken care of. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great getaway!

Our stay at the Ritz-Carlton Maui was nothing short of spectacular! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm aloha spirit and exceptional service that made us feel instantly relaxed. The spa was absolutely heavenly -- serene, beautifully designed, and truly luxurious. The massage therapists were incredibly skilled, and the Hawaiian-inspired treatments left me feeling completely refreshed and rejuvenated. The outdoor relaxation areas with ocean breezes made it even more special. The food was outstanding! Every meal, from breakfast to dinner, was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The locally sourced ingredients really shine -- the seafood dishes were especially memorable, and the cocktails were tropical perfection. And of course, the pool area was paradise itself -- sparkling clean, surrounded by lush greenery, and with breathtaking ocean views. The poolside service was prompt and friendly, and we loved lounging with a Mai Tai in hand as the sun set. Overall, the Ritz-Carlton Maui is the perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and island charm. It's the kind of place you never want to leave -- we can't wait to come back

Well, now that I turned 50 at the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua, Maui no other birthday will be able to compare. Looks like I'm going to have to spend every birthday from now on here. Absolutely stunning

I've read a lot of the reviews on this site that caused me to be dubious about coming here, but we had an excellent experience. Here are a few things to set the record straight: -Our room was beautiful and not dated in any way. -The cleaning was impeccable. There was not a stray hair or dust anywhere. -Maid service is performed daily, without requesting it. -Turn down is available upon request. -The bath towels are super plush and absorbent. -The pool lounges are covered with a terry cloth sheet. The pool towels are in fine shape. We chose to use the Club Level. The food was more varied and generous than some other Club Levels I've visited on the mainland. The hosts there really make the experience. Leilani watched over us with great care, anticipating our every need. Leena heard every request my husband made, followed up in a timely manner and then checked in the next day to make sure he had received everything he requested. It's such a gift to have that kind of service these days, and these ladies exhibit the true Ritz motto- Ladies and gentlemen serving ladies and gentlemen. Well done.

    Rob B.

Still a great get away, incredible staff and service. Some of the pool towels are a bit threadbare, not a problem but not Ritz worthy. The room and housekeeping was excellent and the daily chocolates from front desk if you qualify, should not be missed. Strangely this places lacks trash cans more than anything else. After walking yards in all directions you unfortunately have to drop things where you really don't want. It's like Japan, carry your own hefty bag? Odd.

The property is stunning, and the staff is incredibly helpful. Rebekah was outstanding--she saved us from being overcharged $200 at Banyan Tree after our waiter gave us the wrong bill and insisted it was correct. She was so kind, got everything fixed quickly, and I even ran into her the next day at the pool (I hope they give her a break, lol)! The food was good, though pricey, as you might expect. If you're staying here, I highly recommend Sensei up the road--it's a fantastic dining option. The snorkeling was unforgettable. We saw an incredible variety of fish and even a turtle! The pool was picturesque, open 24 hours, and the nightly live music created a wonderful atmosphere. We were very happy with our stay and would highly recommend it.

Does this hotel have beach access?

Yes it has its own beach. It's small, but nice.

If you are a lifetime titanium member do you get lounge access?

If you mean Club access, then no. I am lifetime titanium as well, and with (I think) most or all ritz, it is not guaranteed. When I was there in June of this year, this ritz did not include it automatically - you could get a package with it or just…

    Rate per night?

    Check their website! It varies.

Is there happy hour at the lounge?

No happy hour, the lounge opens at 4pm

Is there anywhere to park free nearby?

I wouldn't recommend parking at the store... you risk being towed. It rains a lot too you can call from your room and have your car ready. I suggest you download the SHAKA guide and if possible rent a jeep.

Do you have to pay for a cabana to be able to have a chair at the pool, or are there chairs to sit on for free at the pool as well?

Cabanas cost money but the chairs and palapa's are free at the pool.

Unfortunately upon checkin, my requested two queen bed accommodations were unable to be provided. At the recommendation of the front desk clerk Caroline and the MOD (Manager on Duty) Keith We decided to opt for the king bed and roll in "Heavenly" twin. Keith was very apologetic for the lack of requested accomodations but provided us with an upgraded ocean view room and The LĀNAI . This resort is 5 stars in all respects. The staff experience was exceptional. The food & beverage experience was outstanding. The resort is spotless clean and meticulously maintained. The pools and surrounding decks were large enough that we never felt crowded or had an issue finding chairs. The resort has a huge game area "Valley Alley" with a full bar and kitchen. Well appointed with the latest games including VR, air hickey and even bowling. The resort is conveniently located right next to Whalers Village. A short 3 minute walk. Our room was well appointed with all the ammenities that you would expect from the Westin brand. From thick bath towels and The Heavenly bedding to ice cold A/C. This resort has it all. Our experience was made even better by the exceptional and most sincere service provided by Miss. Giadee Kaiwi Hōkūpa'a Experience Coordinator. She made our visit that much better with her warm smile and pleasant attitude. A true ambassador to the Westin name.

Master bathroom was nice, the other 2 bedrooms were both identical. We did notice the one furthest down the hall was warmer than the others. Full bath off the other 2 bedrooms was massive and had washer/dryer combo. Our lanai was amazing. Nice and big and had a spectacular view that overlooked the walking path and the beach/ocean. I will note there were a lot of wasps that were building nests but they left us alone for the most part. Pool- We stayed June 27-July 6, it was fairly busy. You have towel cards that allow you to get resort towels. You can exchange these towels whenever you want during the day for either towel cards or fresh towels. *TIP* before you leave the pool for the day turn in your towels in for new ones so you have them early. Towel hut doesn't open until 8. Pool chairs- In the morning until noon chairs are monitored. If you leave your stuff they come around and tag it. If you aren't there when they come back, they take your stuff to the towel area and keep it there for you to pick up. This helps prevent chair saving. There were a few incidents where we got chairs and then we had an awkward encounter with someone whose belongings had been removed by staff (we didn't know because when we arrived the chairs were empty). There were also times when I left to take a child to go to the bathroom and came back and my chairs had been tagged, which was annoying but not an issue. I just gave them the tag back when they came back. People will still save seats- you just kind of have to have someone stay with it until people from your group arrive. We did notice that some people that were using the pool/ chairs were not actual guests of the resort. They had non resort towels. One family even told us they just walk along the walk way and then decide which resort pool to spend time at. There's no wristbands so I'm not sure how they really can enforce it. It was very frustrating on 4th of July. It seemed there were MANY people at the pool and grill area that were not actually staying at the resort. Pools are nice. They get warmer throughout the day and kind of cloudy from everyone's sunscreen. We saw a piece of poop floating one day and we're super grossed out by that. They have a nice splash pad/shallow area for the kids and a "pebble bottom" pool with small water slide for kids as well. Pool bar restaurant is over priced and not very good. Apparently there's some sort of soda pads you can buy. We didn't do it but I overheard people talking about it. They have activities free and paid through the days. Just check the schedule. We only did the fish feeding one. 2x a week there was a little market set up along the walking path. There's a bin that people put things like floaties, boogie boards, sand toys that they bought but are not taking back home with them. It's by the pool. We got so many things from there: pool noodles, sand toys, boogie boards etc. it was my son's favorite adventure. He would check 2x a day. When we were done with the things at the end of our trip, we put them in the bin so others could enjoy them too! Really awesome idea and saved us a bunch of $$ not having to buy a ton of stuff. Beach- The beach was nice. There are chairs you can rent. It gets pretty windy. The waves weren't too bad during our visit. Snorkeling is literally right off the beach. There's a pretty steep drop off right away. We saw so many colorful fish, sea turtles. Saw dolphins from our lanai one morning as well as sting rays! One day a Monk seal came up on the beach which was cool to see! We spent most days at the pool. Housekeeping/ maintenance: Our son unfortunately had a little too much sun, pool water and sea water and threw up one night. He's little and terrified of throwing up. He missed the toilet and then the realization that we had no cleaning supplies and it was midnight hit us. We called the front desk and they sent two angels (very quickly) who would not let me clean it no matter how many times I asked to clean it. They cleaned it up and made sure everything was disinfected. I felt so bad but they were very reassuring and kind. We had some shower head issues in the master and the other bathroom. We called and within 20 minutes they were at our room and had it fixed. Same with a flusher issue. They were so quick to come and solve the issue. It was a wonderful vacation and we enjoyed it so much!

I am not really a resort guy so I can't speak to the pool or other services here. I am all about the beach. This hotel has an incredible one. There is a coral reef right there! It was really special and we've got to respect these incredible animals! The reef isn't the only way the hotel really lets you experience some of the island on site. The Big Wave shaved ice in the lobby is also some of the best you can have. As far as the rooms, in addition to stoves and washer/dryer, Westin beds are always exceptional. Our…read moreroom wasn't ready when we checked in so they actually upgraded us to a nicer room -- very nice gesture! We were also situated at the Moana building which was definitely the best spot at the hotel because you get the full view of Black Rock and the ocean rather than the resort grounds. Highly recommend getting a room in that section. Additionally, they gave us champagne, chocolates, and a personalized card for our anniversary! The lobby had such amazing views. We also loved the pool. Lots of pool seats available unlike other hotels. I guess it helps that it's at the end of the strip so you don't really have as much crowds coming through. We grabbed some snorkel gear to explore Black Rock and it was full of marine life. What a beautiful spot (I grew up on an island myself and will tell you it's a legit snorkeling experience). The food and beverage options were limited. Breakfast was pretty pricey so we decided to go elsewhere to try a little bit of everything for meals which we were planning to do anyway. We did get food at the pool bar - karaage chicken and fries were so good! We went back for the fries and got a fruit smoothie. One downside is that since the Moana building was at the end of the property so we had to take several elevator rides through the hotel just to get to the lobby. That was fine since it encouraged us to get our steps in but could be frustrating. All in all a wonderful experience!

It sits on a quieter stretch of Ka'anapali Beach, so it never feels as crowded as some of the neighboring resorts. It is also right next to Black Rock, which means you can skip paying for a snorkeling tour and simply walk over yourself. We snorkeled there three times and saw sea turtles every single time. If you are lucky enough to get upgraded to an ocean view room, the sunsets are absolutely stunning and worth looking forward to every evening. The downsides are hard to ignore. The rooms are definitely dated, although they were very clean. The restaurants on site are expensive and the food was average at best. Breakfast costs nearly $50 per person, and the buffet was nothing special. For what the resort charges, I expected a much better dining experience. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. One tip: reserve your poolside cabana online before you arrive because they often sell out. If you can book this property using points (good redemption of course), I think it is worth it. If you are paying cash, I believe there are better values elsewhere in Maui. Overall, we had a pleasant stay, but it did not live up to its price tag.
