The beachfront location is absolutely flawless and it is in such a cute town with lots of restaurants and shops. The beach is so swimmable and has the best snorkeling I have ever done. I love the sea turtles! The views and sunsets here are to die for! The office staff and housekeeping are so friendly and accommodating. The grounds are kept so clean and maintained. The accommodations are clean, homey, and relaxing. The pool is clean, perfect temperature, and amazing views. Such a perfect location for a family vacation! The sheltered sandy beach is steps away for a daily swim in warm waters. Views of the islands and sunsets are superb. Across the street are various restaurants for takeout and of course shaved ice for an afternoon treat. The pool was a source of daily fun. Nice spot along the beach. Has its own little cove for use, as well as area to lounge outside. One of the afternoons, they also had a live performance to listen to as well which was nice. If you're in need of equipment, they also have a rental office for things you might need. We did also have chairs and some other outdoors equipment inside the condos themselves which was nice. Service was helpful when we arrived, and explained anything for the stay itself. Each unit had a kitchen which we used sparingly since we would eat out a lot, but it was certainly helpful. There are bbq sets out in the lounge area for the beach. Quite a few people brought meat to cook themselves as well. By location, they were in the middle of everything which was great. I'd say my only gripe for our trip was that they had renovations going on in the condo next to ours for multiple days so it was often noisy when we were trying to sleep in or nap. read more

Writing this review as I eat breakfast from a private beach side lanai. It cannot get better! These condos are a fantastic place to stay on a vacation to Maui. They are spacious, clean, and well located (you can watch the waves crash 100 ft from your living room and the sunsets are SUPERB!). They have plenty of lounge chairs available to relax on or you can walk down to the beach, which is public but never crowded. The staff are kind and extremely professional, parking is aplenty, and the wifi works wonderfully. Kihei is also a great town from which to base your stay - plenty to eat and do but less commercial than North Maui cities. We will be back...hopefully! :) Only negatives: the pool is not great and I wish there were a hot tub. But who needs it, really? read more

My family grew up going to the Hale Pau Hana and it is still a favorite of ours. Whenever we come to Maui we always stay at the Hale Pau Hana. The location cannot be beat. Ocean front, steps to the beach, but with your own grassy law to lay out and enjoy the beauty. Most units we have stayed in are nicely updated and we always see some work happening updating other units when we are there. The unit we stayed in this last time just had a whole unit AC put in and that was such a nice upgrade to have. There is laundry onsite that works with an app on your phone so no more quarters. The grounds are always impeccably maintained. The pool and grills are nice to have on site too. We always feel the Aloha spirit from the minute we step foot on the Hale Pau Hana property. All staff have always been so warm, welcoming, and helpful. We look forward to all of our future stays at the Hale Pau Hana. read more

This is seriously one of my favorite places I've ever stayed. Conveniently located in south Kihei, this beach front condo property allows people with mid range budgets to have the trip of their dreams. Staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful. The grounds crew are meticulous about lawn maintenance. Plenty of parking for guests. Units are privately owned, well maintained, super clean and kitchens are generously stocked with cutlery, plates, kitchen tools, etc. Sunset views were so fantastic that we didn't dine out much because we didn't want to miss sunset on our balcony! Plenty of beach chairs on the lawn and units have Tommy Bahama chairs to take to the beach. Beach is very swimmable and just a few steps from your beach front condo. For those who need a ton of fancy amenities, this might not be the right place. Pool is small, coin operated laundry room, no restaurant on site, etc. on the other hand, the ocean is your swimming pool, the front desk gladly provided change for the laundry and there are tons of restaurants and a small grocery store within walking distance. That's plenty of luxury for me! (Big grocery store isn't far as long as you have a car. My only regrets are that I had to go home and that I can't afford to buy one of the condos. Returning guests get a discount, so I will definitely go back!!! read more

Easily the best place I've ever stayed ....all things considered.....on any island in Hawaii. No other place do you get this all. 1. On the beach. Not close to the beach. Not across the street from the beach. I mean walk 100ft. You're in the water. 2. Not a crowded beach. Yes, more in busy times...but. Not no room to put down your chairs or towels. 3. Shops, restaurants, and convenience stores are literally across the street. 4. Room to park your rental car. But I have been here enough to know you literally won't need a rental. Love love love this place. The location is really hard to beat. Beautiful views, some of the best beaches on the island, and spacious accommodations. Plus there are great food options in walking distance. Score! We stayed in a 2br 2ba condo overlooking the pool. I will say this is the least desirable spot in the building, but even so, it was ok. You still get some great ocean views from the balcony. I spent hours sitting out there enjoying the scenery. Pool noise wasn't too bad. They offer plenty of lounge chairs on the lawn area. A great way to enjoy the ocean views without all the sand! The office staff is superb. They were incredibly helpful and friendly. My only negatives - the 2 bedroom units only have AC in 1 bedroom. The rest of the unit is hotter than... well... you know. We tried to air it out and circulate the cool air as best we could, but that front bedroom was always stuffy and hot. The other problem was ants. Even being up a few floors, we got ants in our unit. Tiny little things. bleh. All in all, a great stay. And we would absolutely stay again. Hopefully they resolve the AC issue - seems an easy fix to make for a more pleasant stay. read more

Originally I was excited about this place, however, upon arrival became disappointed. The AC in our unit didn't work and it only works in certain rooms in the various units so be prepared for that. Oh and our keys didn't work after numerous attempts. Moreover, there were shades missing and were hard to function. Additionally there happened to be construction with jackhammers starting from 9am to 5pm during the entire stay so you couldn't relax at the pool, beach, or hotel balcony. The rooms are all different and not equitable. The pool is small and there aren't any lounge chairs there- just regular chairs. No amenities like a bar, coffee, or really anything to make this place stick out besides the fact that it's on the beach. Updates are definitely needed and I'd be sure to get a glance at what room and amenities you choose before booking! The views are great but I wouldn't recommend this place for the price. read more

We just returned from an awesome 6 day stay at this awesome condo complex. The online pictures don't even fully do justice, it truly is a gorgeous location right on the stunning beach. We stayed on top 7th floor in room #704 which was perfectly located in center of building. Each unit is independently owned therefore as you notice in pics each decorated/furnished differently. This one was even better in person having a new sofa sectional that makes into bed if needed. All tastefully furnished and fairly updated. The full kitchen fully stocked with everything from flatware/cookware to paper towels to coffee and placemats! But again each room different. Nice dining table both inside and on lanai, two bathrooms, two TV's w/ cable, A/C just in bedroom but such a relief during our very warm week. Cleaning service comes 3 days a week, caution they knock and walk-in all at once!! Definitely need a sign to put on door to avoid an embarrassing moment! Rooms were sound, no disturbances from either side. Just the wonderful ocean waves to soothe your soul. The grounds are beautifully maintained, pool looked like it needed attention a couple days though. The bbq grills are cleaned each morning and they get fully used each night. The beach very clean, loved that they supply you with nice beach chairs. Parking is very close and not an issue. You've got shops and restaurants across the street conveniently, even a small general store if don't want to drive a mile away. The view from everywhere in the unit (except bathrooms/bedroom) is unbelievable, panoramic from floor to ceiling. Can't say enough about this place, front desk staff friendly and helpful. Sadly the the day we checked out was the one day weekly they set out evening Pupus to enjoy w/live music on the waterfront lawn, darn. Only slight issue we noticed after a couple days was that our feet were constantly dirty. We discovered it was from the floors that were all tile! Nothing visually looking dirty but after showers and walking around in unit our feet would be filthy, very odd because all else looked really clean in unit. So I'm hoping this important info gets to housecleaning. The only other slight disappointment was the bed comfort level. It was like a very basic fairly firm bed, nothing special like you would expect in a condo this nice. Only thing you need to know to bring is shampoo/conditioner, shower gel they do provide all soaps ( hand/body, dish and dishwasher). They do give you a set of beach towels, not big or fancy but serve the purpose for pool/beach. Ample lounge chairs on lawn to enjoy or just watch the sunset. Don't forget to take your garbage out to dumpster before leaving. Didn't want to leave though, great stay overall and definitely would return here. read more

My husband and I stayed here in 2018. As my husband loves to say, the three most important things about real estate are location, location, location. This condo resort has one of the best locations in the area. It is right on the beach so all the rooms face towards the water. It is across the street from several restaurants and shops. Just down the street, you'll find a health food supermarket, gear rental, etc. My favorite thing was walking straight onto the beach from the property each day and seeing tons of turtles right on our beach. The rooms are all privately owned, as such, the decor as well as prices vary by unit. Although our one bedroom apartment wasn't overly luxurious, it was very clean and had everything from a full kitchen to board games, travel books, etc. My only criticism of our room was that the a/c was only installed in the bedroom so the living room/kitchen area could get rather hot. I recommend this location for couples or families looking to enjoy convenient accommodations at a reasonable rate. read more

Excellent Condo in South Kihei Maui - Beach front on Kamaole II !! (Unit 22) Our stay at the Hale Pau Hana in Unit 22 was beyond amazing! I did an extensive amount of research before booking a room, and we were not disappointed one bit. I was looking for beach front (not rocky area), great view, Air conditioned, washer/dryer, and reasonable pricing. Unit 22 at Hale Pau Hana checked all the boxes and was better than we could have imagined. Unit 22 is on the second floor in "Low Rise B". Plenty of parking was available right behind the building, close to the stairs. Our room had a window unit in bedroom that would keep the temp perfect. The living room / kitchen area had a portable AC unit, but we did not need it at all. We just kept the patio doors open and screens doors shut when in that area and did not need the AC. Majority of time though if we were in our room we would be out on the balcony. It was great!! We only ended up using the washer /dryer once, but it worked great. Most of the units do not have washer/dryer in them, but there is an onsite laundry room if needed. The view was amazing. Could not have asked for anything better. The rooms are all right on the beach with amazing views. The complex has a very well manicured lawn area between the rooms and the beach, where you can enjoy some some sun and/or shade while sitting in lounge chairs, just behind the sand. The amazing beach is just a few steps down when you want to chill on the beach or splash in the water. No crossing streets or having to walk/drive to get to the beach; you are literally right there. The complex also has a nice pool and plenty of BBQ pits for use. We did not use them, but others were and there were many available. The lawn and beach areas were never over crowded during our stay. There were always plenty of chairs in the lawn area and lots of room on the beach. You can stroll down Kamaole II beach to the left or right and explore Kamaole I and III beaches as well. Rocky areas are in between the beaches which have cool sea creatures to check out. Very fun exploring! The hotel staff was amazing!! We lost one of our room keys and the other was left inside our room. This was after the office had closed for the day. After a short call, one of the great staff members drove down after hours and let me in the room. Totally my bonehead mistake, but they got me back in the room in about 15 minutes! Just across the street in walking distance is a shopping center with some places to eat, tshirt shops, convince store, snorkel/paddle board rentals, etc. Be sure to go over to "THE CINNAMON ROLL PLACE" and grab some breakfast to take back to room and eat on your balcony! Get there early and grab some awesome cinnamon rolls, coffee/lattes, etc and make your morning even better! For lunch go check out Coconut's Fish Cafe and get the fish tacos. You will thank me! Best ones ever... no seriously, the best we have ever had. This was my first trip to Maui, and my girlfriends second. We both loved staying at the Hale Pau Hana and will be looking here first for a room when we return to Maui in the future. Mahalo! read more

Multiple members of our party in multiple units were charged for items within the units that were either not used or were dysfunctional on arrival. Furniture, window cleaning, appliances that didn't work on arrival, etc.; charged us for all of it. Thousands of dollars charged to multiple parties, and we had zero recourse or ability to discuss or defend anything. It was a "you did it, end of discussion" situation. The reality is we pride and conduct ourselves in a manner that we take care of other peoples property, and we were humiliated nonetheless. Proceed with caution and make sure you video a thorough walkthrough with the manager, but I'd look elsewhere. This is my first yelp review and I hope it's my last. read more

The weather was beautiful, the room (Unit 1) was wonderful, and the service was phenomenal. The view from our living room was spectacular, overlooking the pool and the ocean, and we enjoyed both to the fullest. With breathtaking sunsets, snorkeling, a nice grassy area with comfortable furniture for sunbathing, reclining and enjoying a book and a Mai Tai, what more could you ask for? read more

I wanted so badly to love the Hale Pau Hana, and for the first night I did--the views from the 7th floor are wonderful, it's close to a ton of great places, and the little beach it overlooks is lovely. The condo we stayed in wasn't anything fancy, but it was homey and comfortable enough. If you don't mind being obligated to participate in the building's regularly scheduled maintenance plans, and if you can tolerate being called ridiculous and crazy if you have a concern the manager thinks is unimportant, the Hale Pau Hana could be a good option for you. But for me, it wasn't. The second day we were on Maui, we received an email from the operations manager saying they would be conducting mandatory inspections of every unit during our stay, and that they would tell us the date and time of our inspection when we checked in. But we had checked in the day before and no one ever mentioned an inspection. The issue for me is that I have intense anxiety about people who I don't know being in my space, especially when those people are men. I started to think that cleaning after the inspection might help me feel better about it. Since long before COVID I've requested that hotel rooms not be cleaned during my stay because of my anxiety, so I thought about cleaning it myself, but I was on vacation and didn't want to do that. The Hale Pau Hana does not clean rooms for short stays, so on the morning the inspection was scheduled to take place I called to ask for an exception. The receptionist said she'd call me back, but I never heard from her. I called again before they closed and the receptionist said they had rescheduled the inspection for the following day and would clean afterwards. But something about the way she said it left me uneasy. The morning of the rescheduled inspection, I packed up all of our belongings for the second time and went to talk to the manager to make sure I understood the plan. She told me the inspector will only be there for 15 minutes and he doesn't touch anything, though I can't imagine how a touch-less inspection would be possible. I said to her that I appreciated all of that, but I just felt uncomfortable and wanted to figure out a way to make it more comfortable for myself. My goal was to confirm that the cleaning service would happen, but before I could finish my sentence the manager cut me off to say this is mandatory and I could just have a refund for our last two nights and find somewhere else to stay if I wanted. I was floored. So I told her the truth: I wanted a full refund for the entire stay. The amount we spent for that week is what it would cost to find something remotely comparable at the last minute. But she said, "That's ridiculous. I'm not refunding you for nights you used." I tried to tell her that we weren't aware of the inspection happening when we rented the place, and if we had been made aware I never would have stayed there. She said they sent out an email, and I said we got that email the day after we checked in. Her only response was silence. I repeated to her that if we had known about this inspection, we would have canceled our reservations and found accommodations elsewhere. She said that no one else complained about the inspection and that she didn't think 15 minutes was an inconvenience big enough to warrant my reaction. I told her that I didn't sign up to come on vacation and tell someone I don't even know about past traumas that make me feel unsafe having random men in my space. She scoffed and said, "Past trauma? That's crazy. That's just crazy. If it's about a man in your space, I can come with him." I asked her if she realized how cruel it is to call somebody crazy, and she said, "Cruel? This is cruel now? This is ridiculous." And the conversation just got worse from there. I stepped away and my husband took over. During this exchange, the manager said to me that the owners of the condo units are proud of their homes and want to make sure they're in good shape. You'd think they would also want to be proud of the person who represents them, but this manager was cruel, disrespectful, and unprofessional. She passed every inconvenience of the inspection onto guests without apology or consideration. I know that I'm responsible for my anxiety, and if the Hale Pau Hana had been bothered to communicate in advance about their plans, I would have canceled our stay, avoided the entire situation, and been able to enjoy our vacation so much more. read more

We just returned from a stay at The Hale Pau Hana. It was a great experience from check in. The office is tiny, but they are super welcoming and friendly. Afterall, how much do you really need/use a lobby? We had one of the units which isn't "updated ". That being said, it cost a bit less and was actually really nice. The kitchen and bathrooms were great. Every time I walked around the town (& yes, you can walk to everything you need in Kihei from The Hale Pau Hana) I kept repeating that I chose the best possible place. The beach is literally in front of your unit beyond a very well kept lawn. I explored beaches from North Kihei down to Makena and really feel that Kamoale II is absolutely one of the best. Parking is also very easy here. Typical rental units leave you on your own for basiscs, but here they restocked things like TP and paper towels. Each Monday, Wednesday and Friday, they change out towels and take out trash. If you stay more than 7 days, they will do a full cleaning of the unit. I can't say enough good things about the place. Right on the beach in Central Kihei. There is dining and shopping within walking distance. This is a beautiful property that is well cared for. It is an older building though. We arrived a little before 2pm for checkin. The desk clerk was a very friendly lady. She explained everything to us including the discount card for the local Goodland market. She gave us some other discount cards and gave us some snorkeling tips. Very pleasant experience at the front desk. We were given unit 207, which was a complimentary upgrade. We booked and paid for a 1 bed 2 bath unit and we're given a 2 bed 2 bath unit. The units are individually owned so decor and vintage of units varies. Ours had been updated in the not so distant past. Furnishings were comfy and adequate. The kitchen utensils and such are a little lacking in this unit but we found ways to make due. The dvd/stereo in the living room didn't work. It would be really great if they would give you two dish towels. Towels are changed on Mon. Wed. Fri. along with emptying the trash. They do a full cleaning every 7 days. The individual units do not have washers and dryers but they have a laundry room on site. Washers are $1.25 and dryers are $1.25 for 40 minutes. They keep the grounds and common areas very clean. The facility is also non-smoking. The beach is literally steps away and near some great snorkel spots. Several people we spoke to hear have been coming to this location for many years. I was happy with our choice to stay here and would certainly consider coming back again. read more

I extensively searched condo units on the internet -Yelp, Trip Advisor, VRBO, FlipKey, Maui Revealed, etc. I was seeking great beachfront location in the Kihei area for our 10th wedding anniversary. Central and southern Kihei were preferred. We had stayed in Lahaina previously, but never southern Maui. After the initial long list was whittled down for location, exacting beach proximity, price, location features, etc., we selected Hale Pau Hana Beach Resort. The location, facility, grounds, cleanliness, and staff were all excellent - could not have asked for more. We specifically selected the second floor of the low-rise building which features 1+1 with full frontal beach and sunset view, the second floor gave us more privacy on the lanai from passers by. The only drawback was that our unit (#17) is dated. Bed, spacious lanai, TV and internet service and some furnishings were great; carpet, blinds, bath, and dinky kitchen could all improve. AC is only in bedroom and ceiling fans and tropical breezes serve other areas. Unit was also rather small overall, fine for two. Each room is individually owned and decorated - please view images for taste. The low-rise building units all have great views. There does not appear to be a fitness center on the property Overall a real winner and a great stay, we will return read more

A really nice condo resort right smack dab in the middle of the tourist strip (which isn't "that" touristy) in Kihei. It was certainly the least overpriced of all (and I do mean all) non-hostel options on Maui over Presidents' / Valentines' day weekend. It was about $300 per night with a four night minimum which means that even when abandoning the place for the fourth night, it was STILL cheaper than booking any non-hostel option on Maui. Anyway, the top floor views from our suite (#701) were right out of a Hawaii picture book - all palm trees and ocean. There is a nice common area with a pool overlooking the adjacent beach. We also had two bathrooms and a sleeper sofa. But if you plan to book this place to accommodate more than two people, beware that only the bedroom has A/C, which is as loud as many tropical storms. If you're in the living room, you will need to open up the windows and sliding doors to let the breeze cool you down. Anyway, each suite is a little different (it's a condo building) and ours had furniture which seemed to be mostly from the 70s-90s. Which was fine. We didn't book this suite to hangout out in - just to sleep in! read more

My husband grew up coming here nearly every year, which was an easy to do from the West Coast. So, for the first few years of our marriage, I kept hearing the stories of the fabled Hale Pau Hana. When we finally got to go, it came as close to my heart as it was to his. We meet his parents there almost every year, and bring our young children. The same people go at the same time every year, and now we have a Hale Pau Hana family made up of people hailing from San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver, etc. Our memories include snorkeling, getting to know people at pupu parties, hot chocolate on the lawn in the morning, applauding the sunset EVERY evening, building sand castles, visiting with locals and their dogs, and pretty much everything else. One moment that will always stay with me is when I ventured out into some coral, and mistakenly stepped on a sea urchin. Immediately, I was stung with hundreds of mini spikes. Just about everyone offered to pee on my foot. Seriously! That was the local remedy for such a thing! You can take from that two things - listen to the experts about where to go and not go - and secondly, look at the love! It is impossible to give an adequate star rating for the accommodations because every unit is individually owned. But, they all fave the ocean, they all have some conveniences of home, and the point of going is not about the building, but the memories you will make in that little piece of heaven. read more

Spent 8 glorious days in March 2021 at the Hale Pau Hana! Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate while we were there! Storms, flooding, high winds and brown ocean. That being said, The Hale Pau Hana is our favorite place to stay on Maui!! Lisa and Maggie in the front office are so nice and helpful! Jim, the "go to" guy works so hard to maintain the maintenance issues! The man working nonstop taking care of the lawns and plants are the property does such a good job!! The housekeeping staff are very friendly and also work extremely hard to make sure everything is clean! The location on Kam II is amazing and you are within walking distance to many wonderful places to eat!!! Looking forward to returning in May to celebrate Mother's Day with our daughte!! read more

I researched a variety of locations to stay at in Maui and decided on this location. It Was a great location. This condo was clean and had all the amenities. It had a kitchen with stove, fridge and 2 bathrooms. We also received a location right off the beach with a great view. The bed was comfortable. I slept great. There are also BBQ pits on the property which I made use of. Very convenient. The front desk was great! She was very attentive and kind. We needed a late check out due to a late flight and she allowed us to stay in another condo. The condo is also right across the street from stores and restaurants which was very convenient. The one down side is seeing little bugs(Roaches) but this is all part of the island vacation. We only seen 2 and reported it. The management stated that they would stay. I have been coming for years and usually stay a couple of weeks because of the beautiful location. Prices are now going up and not confident most of the rooms and "resort " are worth the $300+ a night. A/C only in bed room. Room cleaned only once a week. TV missing in some bedrooms. Constant noise from room updates at surrounding condos. Simple and small pool. Resort staff shake up and now reservation cancellation rules have changed giving you only 48 hours to cancel. At old prices these things we tolerated. Also becoming less of the family feel especially after seeing a bronze plaque on the wall outside room 8 that seemed to mock a guest that suffered severe injuries when she slipped and fell on the patio. read more

It was like having your own personal concierge. The condo with the ocean view from the 7th floor balcony was breathtaking. I've been coming here since I was born and it never even occurred to me to write a review, but this place is amazing. It's a new experience every time we come, but it always feels like home. The beach has changed over the past years, but it's a 30-second walk from dozens of shops including an amazing cinnamon roll place! Just across the street you can get you nails done, henna, ice cream, food, and a general store with everything you need! It's very close to the airport and the balconies make for beautiful mornings watching the ocean. If you leave the door open at night you can hear the ocean as you sleep, and sometimes I even choose to sleep on the fold-out couch because of the nice breeze. Highly recommend! read more

Holy **** what a find! Stayed in 23 which was second-floor and ridiculously well-equipped. Chairs? Check. Beach umbrella? Got 3. Need a blender? Airtight food storage containers? BBQ tools? How about a freakin' ethernet cable? Yup, got that too. Amazing oceanfront view up close including a view of Molokini, Kaho'olawe, and Lanai? Oh my, yes. Beach Access: Super EZ-mode. After an amusingly treacherous cliff descent/ascent experience on Kauai, we relished our short walk to sand and water. Beach Quality: Let's be honest. My bar is set pretty freakin' high in terms of beaches. Fortunately I can happily report the beach outside the HPH is fantastic. Silky sand, small waves, and great clarity in the mornings for snorkeling the finger between the Kamaole Beach Park II and III. We saw a few turtles and a couple of eagle rays (I think?) up close, as well as big schools of fish. Not too many people were there with kids and dogs and paddleboards (the latter two seen combined several times!). It never felt crowded, even on Saturday and Sunday. Don't sweat the lack of a restaurant or bar or store or equipment rental desk. There's plenty of that within a short walk, and a lot more within a short drive north. We were nice and close to the resort action in Wailea and not too far from Turtle Town, Little Beach, or Big Beach. Agreed with some others that the laundry room hours suck, but the machines are a good size and work fast. There are only 4 washers and dryers though so get there early! The front desk totally works with you and the staff was pretty cool. Since they didn't have cleaning scheduled in our unit the day we departed they let us have a super-late checkout!! Per-unit Wifi is a pretty huge plus in my book. The A/C setup is a little bizarre but it works well to cool the bedroom for when people are getting ready or sleeping or whatever. Disclaimer: If you require central A/C, this place might not be for you. I'd say, if you require central A/C, wtf are you doing on Maui indoors during the hottest part of the day??? read more

Lots of 5 star reviews but they rarely mention the Chief of Grounds & Maintenance, Jim. Efficient and always on the job to ensure everything works properly and the grounds are maintain perfectly. And he even offers advice to the inquisitive. I give him a 5 star review because he brightens our stay. Rick read more

My family and I had the most wonderful experience at Hale Pu Hana Resort. We stayed a week and the girl at front desk desk where were awesome!!!! I met one personally Dar she was amazing she helped from the beginning of my reservation to my check out. But all the ladies were a delight to interact with. We stayed in 707 it felt like home. I can express enough how family orientated and quite it is. The beach is right in front there is no bad view. read more

Just got back from a week at the Hale Pau Hana to celebrate our 10th anniversary! It was beautiful! We had a first floor condo and were able to walk right out the back patio do a small grassy area with a pool and then about 10 feet to the beach! The beach is lovely and the waves not too large for swimming. We saw turtles and fish swimming near by (even without snorkel gear) on clear mornings/evenings. The condo itself was great. Even though we were in a unit that has not yet been renovated, everything was clean and functional, with plenty of kitchen supplies. The location was great too! Walking distance to great restaurants and beaches, but not nearly as touristy as Lahina or Whaler's Village area. We will definitely stay there again if we make it back to Maui! read more

5 stars for the private beach & view! The pool was 4 stars, the pool deck was under renovation for the first few days we were there & it was fenced off in orange plastic with metal rods & with loungers holding it up in spots. The inside of the condos varied, it was a family vacation so there were 3 units. These units are all different so: 17: Older, small kitchen...actually the kitchen & bathroom are a bit worn. Warning - if you have kids the carpet gets dirty easily. It's nice though! 306: Newer, there's no carpet, the bath tub is a bit worn, very nice! 301: Nicest of all the 3 units! There's a bit of carpet but it was modern & very clean! There's plug in internet which was a bonus for all of us....our phones in the units didn't work. BBQs were great, the kitchens came in handy - we made quite a few meals...(to save some $$$ go to the local Safeway instead of the grocery store they suggest), there are local shops right across the street...every morning but Sunday there is a coffee cart which a lovely couple brings out into the courtyard up! Over all a 5 star resort! read more

A hit or miss with each room being so different. The layouts are the same or very similar but the type and quality of furniture and furnishings can vary greatly. Our first stay here was good the bed was very comfortable and with a very nice Tommy Bahama bed comforter and nice linen. The furniture and television was a bit outdated but the owners went out of their way with providing extras that the room in our recent stay did not provide (such as binoculars and a good cooler). The bathroom was also outdate but the place was clean and comfortable and everything worked and thats whats most important. Our most recent stay was very disappointing. The property itself is very well maintained, the staff is very friendly, and the guests are quiet in our experience (just the way we like it). The issue lies with the hit or miss experience with the units. Our recent unit was very uncomfortable. Leather chairs in the living room are a bad idea in a room with no AC ( they get hot and sticky very quickly). The carpet was absolutely disgusting and needs to be replaced asap. The rest of the floor that didn't have carpet had tile that was also disgusting and sticky, its in desperate need of a good cleaning. The ceiling fan in the bedroom was broken and the cool air from the ac doesn't circulate properly without it. We purchased a small portable fan which was a godsend for both the bedroom at night and the living room during the daytime (the record high heat and humidity this summer makes the units muggy and uncomfortable and this is coming from people used to 105F and 100% humidity weather). We knew that this condo (like most others) do not have AC in the living room but we where not prepared for the extremely muggy conditions inside the unit. I am not holding the lack of central AC against this condo as I know that these weather conditions are not the norm but having a working ceiling fan in the bedroom is a must and a small portable fan available to at least help in the living room is a no brainer. The stove doesn't close/seal properly and needs some maintenance. The wort part about our unit however was the bed. The mattress felt ancient and it had a mattress pad topper which only made it slightly less terrible. The pillows where ok but the bed linen felt like sand paper and nothing compared to the awesome bed and linen out of first unit. Unfortunately there is limited detailed information about each unit out there and with such variability it's necessary to make a informed decision. If you're looking to be right on the beach and not drop a ton of dough, this is the place to be! I rented a one bedroom condo with my friend and was pleasantly surprised as to how close to the beach we were. Pros: Inexpensive relative to the resorts. All of the condos have an ocean view, really amazing sunsets! There is also some excellent snorkeling here, so rent snorkel equipment while you're staying. Our condo has an updated kitchen Close to restaurants and grocery stores Walking distance to other beaches Free parking and internet Cons: A/C only in the bedroom, which usually just have a king or queen bed. If it were any warmer (we were there in December), this would not have been great for anyone sleeping outside of the bedroom. We had issues with getting our toilet fixed Across from strip malls, so not as secluded. Bottom line: if you're coming to Maui for more than just a few days, want to be close to the beach, and want to save hundreds of dollars, instead of booking a resort, consider these condos! read more

This is our home sweet home. We have been staying here for a very long time, this is the only resort that my family would pay to stay in. It's got the most beautiful view from our room, every staff is so kind, and the big boss Casper is always commanding our needs every time. And there rooms always feels like home. I'm not sure if it was just because it was over New Years but this place was ridiculously over priced. Other reviews talked about how uncomfortable the beds were. They weren't kidding. My wife woke up with such a horrible back ache, we had to get a foam cover (kind of a pain to ship back). Beware! The place was very tired looking (1970s decor). Minimal service (not daily). If it wasn't for the view (room 701) this wouldn't get to 2 stars. read more

I'll give it a 2. This is not a resort, despite its name. It is a building of individual, investor-owned condos that are dark, hot, and rather in need of reinvestment. The guy in charge appears to be an old German who seems interested in talking with German visitors and ignoring other guests. The place is seriously under-air-conditioned for the tropics; I've had better AC in third-world countries. And today, they ran out of propane for the clothes dryers and so now I get to choose between dirty and wet clothes. On the plus side, the building fronts onto a nice beach and has a beautiful lawn with lawn chairs. They also hosted, for no additional charge, a little hula-themed event on the Fifth of July that was good. All in all, I'd encourage you to consider alternatives. After reading great reviews on this place and searching pretty much every place to stay in Kihei, we decided to book here. I am so glad we did! This place was incredible. You are able to specifically pick which room you want. We chose ground level on the end, which was perfect because there was a walking path straight onto the beach from the grass right next to us. There are BBQs on site that are extremely clean and available for use. Wonderful beach access and they even provide beach chairs! The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need, including seasonings and we even had a surprise pineapple that we BBQ'd. They also give you a scan care to Foodland, which is only a mile down the road. The staff was really friendly and helpful. When we come back to Maui, we will definitely stay here again! read more
