I love this salon! I came here because of yelp and was really impressed. They offered me a drink, gave me heavenly head scrub, and gave me the cut I needed! My hair was very heavy and very dead, they revived it and gave me exactly what I needed. A lot of length cut off and longer layers and bangs which I love! The length was a bit daunting at first (it's what I asked for) but now I'm in love with it! Will be back! Also wasn't super pricy which was a plus! read more

I've had the same stylist for 37 years (my mom), but when it came to my friend's big day, and invited me to get my hair and makeup done with her as a bridesmaid, I was like heck yeah!!!! There was a wedding party of 5 of us there for services, and Liz was a family friend to the bride and her mother. They let us bring in a little lunch, a few adult beverages, and relax while each of us took turns getting beautiful!! I was totally down with whatever my bride wanted us to do with hair/makeup (it was HER day after all) but she let us have free reign, and I quickly found a cute style on pinterest I wanted to try.... Liz worked her magic on my baby fine hair, worked quickly, was hilarious and warm, and gave me the style I wanted! I also had my makeup done here... and (ugh, I forgot her name too!) but she was amazing. I brought my own makeup from home (I can be picky about certain products) and we talked about the look I was going for, my preferences.... and the result was amazing. What I have learned after getting makeup professionally done over the last few months: You will feel like it may be a bit much..... but don't worry! They know what they are doing and how to work that brush so it creates magic for the cameras! We were there pretty early, (11 am for a 5 pm wedding) and I only touched up once or twice before the ceremony, and the look lasted all night. I totally recommend this location for anyone in St. Augustine, or getting married in St. Augustine! They made the day fun and relaxing for all of us, and the result for the entire party was gorgeous! read more

Hues is amazing and Elena is God's gift to hair. I walk in look at Elena and ask her to make it look nice or bounce some ideas off of her and she sits me down and give me the most perfect cut and color better than I ever could have imagined in my life for my hair. I put all my faith in her skill for my hair. I am very picky and literally did a preinterview 6 years ago before I let her touch my hair. I now live in South Florida but still come up to get my hair done by her because she is that incredible! Linda is the lady to go to for your up do and she is also an owner she is really skilled with hair too and her updos are perfect for all women and every event! Linda & Patty are the owners and are great also. The salon is always clean, organized, professional, and friendly. They actually travel and do hair for models during fashion week and shows in Florida. Their hair dos on the Oscar de la Renta models was really beautiful! Their prices are reasonable and they are frequently attending Bumble and Bumble training courses and very up to date and knowledgeable about current styles for color and cut. read more

I was visiting a friend here in St. Augustine. I love her hair and asked where she got it done....Hues she replied. She called them and was able to get an appointment for me as I needed a touch up on my roots and a few highlights to make me look like a summer goddess. Given it was a holiday weekend they were booked but had new talent that could apply color. A shout out to Nancy for taking good care of me! To ensure perfection she consulted with a few veterans in the salon...Courtney who does my friends hair, and Liz who offered advice on toners, proper application and rinsing. The true spirit of teamwork was evident when the owner Patty came over to give my hair a once over and added a few highlights around my face to make me look younger!!! God bless you Patty for accomplishing just that. You take a chance when you walk into a salon. Currently, I live in Atlanta, but I am planning my wedding down in St. Augustine where our families friends are since we lived in Jacksonville for many years before moving to Atlanta a year ago. When planning on where to go and who to have do my hair for my engagement photos and wedding, I knew I wanted to go to Liz at Hue's. Liz has been a family friend for several years, and now that she's at Hue's I knew I had to reach out to her. Little did I know that Hue's has so much to offer, especially for bridal parties! For your wedding day, you can set up hair, makeup and nail appointments for you and your girls all at Hue's. They will set up a table for you to have wine and snacks if you would like, too, which of course most everyone wants! They also schedule all of your party so that everything will fit into your time line. It is really great! You do have to put 20% down to save the date for your wedding crew to come in, but it is easy for your girls to pay you back. If you would like, you can come in for a test hair and makeup session to see what you would really like to do. There is a cost for this, but it is discounted from the day-of costs. I decided what better time to test out hair and makeup than before my engagement photos. I showed up and was first greeted by my makeup artist (I feel awful, I cannot think of her name!!). She was so sweet and made me feel so welcome. She let me know that Liz (for my hair) was just finishing up with another client, and would be right with me. When Liz took me back, the first thing she asked after greeting me was if I would like a glass of wine....um...YES! Then we sat down and she got to business after I showed her the picture I liked for my hair. We chatted, laughed and just enjoyed time together while she worked on my hair. She did a great job! Even made it so we would know how the veil would be put in on the actual wedding day so it would stay while I wanted it, but easily come out for the reception. Once we were done with hair, it was on to makeup....and another glass of wine! It was such a wonderful makeup experience. She sat down with me and just talked about what I was thinking, what I liked, what I didn't like, anything I was worried about and my skin. She got to know me, which really just made me feel very comfortable. We talked the whole way through the makeup process about the makeup as well as just life. I had a couple changes where I wanted lighter eyeshadow or darker eyeliner, and she was so helpful to make it exactly what I wanted. When she was done, I had the look I hoped for, me with just a little more definition. (I do not wear a lot of makeup.) Now finding Hue's is easy but hard all at the same time. It is right off of Anastasia Blvd., but looks very tiny from the front. Luckily, I was being dropped off, so we did not have to find parking. My experience with Hue's was really just wonderful! This was my first experience getting my hair cut at Hues hair salon. I scheduled with one of their master stylist Kourtnee Jinright. She was bubbly, personable, and made getting my hair cut a great experience. I loved that with each step from washing my hair, to styling it she explained each product, why she's using it, what it does to my hair, and the benefits of using it. I am usually nervous going to a new stylist but her talking me through her process and constantly asking my opinion on how my hair looks made me feel like I had gone to her for years. The whole atmosphere of the salon was amazing as well. I was greeted right away offered water wine etc while I waited to be called back and every stylist there had a smile on and was willing to stop and ask how I am. Worst haircut I have ever had. I made it very clear I did not want my bangs cut short and she said "no problem. I will trim them a little and then you can decide if you want more cut off." The 1st look at my bangs almost made me cry. She had cut more than half of the length and they were very uneven. I have short hair to begin with and this cut was terrible. A $51 disaster that I have to live with for several weeks. Never again. read more

I went to Hues for my hair for prom. They were great about working around my two jobs and the place is much bigger than you think. I had Kathryn and she was wonderful with helping with my updo. I wasn't too sure of what I wanted but I broughtin pictures and she used her creative talent to exceed my expectations. And she even axed pieces to my hair. I went to Hues for the first time recently and had my hair cut by Brittany, who I couldn't recommend more! I showed her a few pictures and she asked me some questions to really understand what I wanted and what would work best for me. For years I colored my hair with over the counter products. After allowing my hair to go natural for almost ten years, I decided to once again "wash the gray out!" My family insisted I have it done professionally so it wouldn't look weird. My daughter and her best friend have had Fatima color their hair for a while now and I was very impressed with the results. So, for my 69th birthday I was treated to a dye job with Fatima by my daughter and grand daughter! It was such a wonderful change in my appearance! My third appt. was last week, the stylist ruined my highlights. She was rushed due to them messing up her schedule so she was called in last minute on something I set up weeks in advance. The attitude she gave me was no professional at all. I understand she was called in but that was not my fault. I did not like the way she handled things, it led to her messing up my hair and my desire to ever go back to her and this salon. I moved to St Augustine 5 months ago and have looked for a new hair salon. Finally heard about Hue's and made an appointment for today. My appointment was with Courtney who turned out to be extremely understanding and listened to all my concerns. I came in with 5 month old root growth, looking for a specific pixie cut and color. I left with exactly what I asked for. Courtney explained everything she was going to do and when she wanted to ensure that I left looking exactly like the picture, she brought over the store owner and other stylist. Everyone I met was a professional and treated me as if I was their client. I loved the salon, and believe I have found my new place. Would highly recommend to everyone. read more

Easily 5 stars! This place is great! I've been to numerous salons in this town and this is, by far, my favorite. They are professional, super friendly, and very experienced. The stylists all help each other out and really seem to enjoy working together, unlike some other salons where the stylists are catty to each other or carry around a super snobby attitude to make customers feel uncomfortable. Courtney is my colorist and my hair has never looked so good! It is healthy (finally!) and I get complements on my color that I never have had before. They don't charge "an arm and a leg" and the whole experience couldn't be more enjoyable. You wont be disappointed! read more

Karianne(I think that's how you spell it) saved me when my last hair stylist became too busy and too difficult to get an appointment. She's so great and so funny! I have a faux hawk and she nails it every time she trims it! They are very nice there and want nothing more than for you to feel comfortable. They offer drinks and coffee as you walk in the door and want to make sure you leave happy! I would recommend this place to anybody that is looking for GREAT hairstylists. It is priced very well also. Some salons like to charge a lot of money but they are very reasonable. read more

BEWARE!! Zero stars for this place. Kat my stylist used incredibly dull scissors causing a frizzy, lifeless look. Worse still, my hair was very dry, so she decided to "cut the dry out," by butchering my hair. It was several days before I realized the gravity of the damage she did. 4 months have come and gone and I'm still in damage control, and will be for a lOng time to come. I had an appointment at this salon and was running 10 minutes late because as a first time mom this was my first outting away from my newborn...thus making it hard to get out the door. I had called to give the salon notice and I was given attitude on the phone for being late...that should have been my first clue! When I got to the salon they paired me with Elena and I showed her pictures of myself with the color and cut that I normally get. She acted as if she knew exactly what I want and even repeated it back to me. Well...to make a long story short....she colored my hair the wrong color and admitted it. Then she cut my hair so short that I had to tell her to stop cutting. after i told her to stop she said that she did not understand what I wanted (which to me was shocking after I showed pictures and we talked about it in detail). You can tell that the staff is inexperienced and the hair cut was not worth the price. Needless to say I had to go to a different salon to get my hair color fixed. I will not be going back to this place and would not recommend this place to anyone. read more
