In short, they ended up going downstairs and re-routed the sump to my sludge pit and the line became disconnected and discharged water all over my basement flooring. Jake authorized me to contact my insurance company to bring ServPro out and stated their insurance would cover it working through my insurance. I got the mess cleaned up and when I had my insurance company reach out to theirs, apparently Jake Ray & Sons had let their insurance coverage lapse. After Danielle Ray stated that they would reimburse me for the bill at approx. $500 per month until it was paid off, they refuse to make payment. Of course, I paid them for the work they did in a timely manner, but apparently they don't have the same integrity and are ignoring their commitment. So, now it's August 1st and I have to go to Sangamon County Small Claims Court to recover the amount both Jake and Danielle said they would cover. I would never, ever, recommend their services to anyone. Keep in mind, they may still be uninsured and their most recent post prior to mine was well over a year ago.

The designer referred me then to Chris Mikus, owner operator of Safeguard. Chris, the designer, and I established an agreeable scope of work and he put together a proposal. Check this out: He uses the EXACT same software my insurance company uses for estimating costs whereas The first contractor merely wrote down hand written sentences on paper of work he would do. That frustrated the insurance company; i had to keep going between insurance and contractor, and all that ended when his prices were exorbitant and he refused to lower his price. In came Chris, he took a day or two and input the drawings, measurements, cost of materials, labor etc. and sent that FILE to my insurance agent. (With the other guy I took pictures of his hand written estimate. You can imagine how annoying that was for them). Then when the Ins Company got the paper bid, they laughed out loud on the phone!! Safeguard was a red-tape savior and actually influenced the ins company to release more funds later on. Thank God! **** Then on top of that, the quality of work was Outstanding. His prime employee, Jake was faithful, diligent, well-measured, and committed to excellence. We removed a wall, a pantry, replaced an island, extended countertop space another 10 feet. See pics.
