I bought my car through Hugh white. the experience with the sales associates was fine. they were friendly and worked with me. BUT i recently had to use their service center. I usually go to a small and local shop for most of my maintenance but this time, based on the issue, I decided to take it to the dealer. so appointment at 9am and we drop it off. there's a clicking sound that needed to be looked at, as well as oil change while it was there. so it started off okay and then by noon I got an update, they said they'd call me when it's done. the tech was taking his lunch and they'd finish up. they said the issue with the clicking sound was a "walnut" from a "rodent". mind you, there was no signs of a rodent being in there what so ever. so they later redacted that statement and said just a walnut. and that it wasn't covered by warranty. car isn't even a year old either, and has had routine maintenance. whatever, so I'm waiting for the call for them to say they're done and we can pick it up. sat home and waited ALLLLLL day. heard nothing. finally at 4:50 we called, there about to close and it's like how's the car not done?????? and theyre like "oh. it's done and put together." OK? so why didn't anyone call and say that like they said they would lmao. then they're like "oh well we close so you can't pick it up today" like I'm sorry what??? so we said no we would like to get it. they said they have to get the bill put together and then theyd leave the keys in it and we could get it. because they had 8 hours to locate a walnut and change the oil and somehow that wasn't enough time to type up the bill. so they want me to pay 500$ to replace the part not covered under warranty since it was caused by one single walnut, which nobody knows how that even got inside the car. there was no rodents in the car. weird. car isn't even a year old either. so get the car back. glove box was dismantled and not put back in correctly, my dad had to fix it. they "changed the oil" but never put a sticker saying when it would need changed again, never reset it in the dash, then they charged us for other maintenance that they never did. they said we refused a tire rotation but nobody asked if we wanted it done. not to mention that we've called 3 times now to try to talk to a manager or SOMEONE, and they just say nobody is there. called US to ask us to pay them to do the tire rotation, the one that they initially said we refused, and when on the phone with them we asked AGAIN about our concerns and who to talk to, and they just wanted to hang up since we weren't interested in giving them our business again. also called Honda to complain about them as well, and about the warranty. they were the only people concerned and said they would contact the dealer. read more

Recently bought a new 2025 Honda Pilot Elite. I live in WV and bought the car in Ohio. While at the dealership we were told that everything we needed for the license for vehicle would be sent to us or had been given to us that day. We went to the DMV to get the license and its been a mess. They didnt tell us that the DMV would need the actual title which had already been sent to the bank. When we called the bank they were sending the title to DMV but could take 14 days. The temporary tags expire before then. We were told to contact the dealership and have an extension done on the tags. Well we contacted them and was told they were not able to do that. Never given a reason just no. Attempted to contact the manager there numerous times without a return call or anything. and yes the dealership is able to do an extension on a temp tag if needed. They were at fault for not having/giving us all the correct info/paperwork but they cant help us? nope would not recommend them at all read more

I wish I had an option to give 0 or even negative stars. I went to Athens, Ohio office to buy a car, and the salesman agreed to a price after we discussed everything. That's when we requested a test drive. While my husband and his friend went for the drive, I was told to wait for the paperwork to be signed. Only to our surprise, when they returned from the drive, the salesman told us that he sold the car to the other party at a higher price. Interestingly they were showing the same car to two parties at the same time and after committing with us and finalizing the deal, right before the signature, they cancelled the deal. They wasted our 4.5 hours. It was unprofessional and unethical, and we felt cheated. Would never recommend this place to anyone or consider them for any business. read more

First let me say that I would leave 0 stars if possible. I called Hugh White Honda of Athens Ohio on 2 different occasions and spoke with 2 different service dept people. I told them i had a lug nut and stud spinning on the wheel of my car therefore i cant get the wheel off. One person said they were familiar with the problem and all they would need to do was drill it out. The other person said yes that they were familiar with the problem and could fix the problem without damaging my wheel. They set me up with a 2pm appt. and I showed up at 1:45 and gave them my car. After waiting an hour and thinking they must not be having any problems and should be about done, a service person came out and informed me that the only way to get the wheel off was by using a cutting torch and i would need to buy a new wheel and tire pressure monitoring system because the lug and stud is just spinning. This is what I told them from the beginning and they said they could drill it out without damaging my wheel. So I went out to the car and looked at the lug nut thinking it would be drilled out some since I had been waiting an hour and the lug nut did not have a scratch on it. They had never attempted to take it off. They couldn't have made the repair anyhow, because they didn't have the stud in stock that they would need to replace. They had an aftermarket lug nut but no stud. I found this out because I tried to buy a lug nut and stud from them. I found a tire shop in Marietta Ohio that said they could drill it out without any damage to my wheel and I took the car to them. They had the lug and stud drilled out, the tire off , stud replaced, wheel back on without a scratch in about an hour. I hope this message saves some of you time and money from dealing with Hugh White Honda in Athens Ohio. read more

Beware used car shoppers! We purchased a 2016 vehicle with 90k miles on it, within 10 months of owning it we had sent it to the mechanic five times, including needing a total engine replacement. (Also please note we took perfectly good care of the vehicle). We went back to the dealership and explained our disappointment in our purchase. We thought perhaps they cared enough about repeat business to work with us to make this situation right. They do not care. Instead they offered to take the vehicle and put us in an even older, more heavily used vehicle with less favorable financing terms than our initial purchase 10 months earlier. Is it the dealership's fault that the vehicle has problems? No. Did they do anything to make it better? Also no. Did they sell us a crappy car and make great profit for themselves? Yes. Did they try to create a more equitable outcome for a customer? Absolutely not. These guys are not interested in making lifelong customers, they just want to make a quick buck. Do not purchase a car here unless you have a great deal of automotive expertise so that you can verify that the car is in the condition that they claim it is. This business does not care about its customers. read more

Purchased a car there the car I purchased seems ok but my problem is I felt like I was pressured into taking less on my trade then I wanted too. A week latter I tried to buy my car back at the same amount they had offered me but they refused. Funny thing when you sign the paperwork they have you sign a paper stating they can admin the deal that should go both ways. Take it from me go to a deal that is willing to offer you a fair amount on your trade or let you buy it back if they don't. read more

Go somewhere else for repairs, the service shop is awful. I wish I could give them 0 stars. I had my car in for service in Feb of 2023. I heard a clicking/ticking noise coming from the engine and wanted them to diagnose it. I also asked for an oil change and an alignment. When I took the van in that morning the check engine light came on and I asked them to look at that. When I picked it up, they said nothing was wrong with the car. I still had concerns about the engine due to the fact I drive long distances for my kids' sports and activities. He assured me nothing was wrong, I was frustrated so I just decided to take my car. When I received their customer service survey, I expressed how disappointed I was with the service, and I took it in to get the Engine checked out and they never went through it thoroughly. A rep called me and said to bring the van back in and they would look at it again. I believe they scheduled me an appointment for about a week and or week and a half later. I left the van with them for a day or two, they said their master mechanic had inspected the engine thoroughly and nothing was wrong that the noise was coming from the alternator. I explained to them I had the alternator changed about a year ago at a dealership in Columbus Ohio. They recommend that I call them. But said it was nothing that needed immediate attention. A few weeks later I was driving the vehicle and it just stopped while driving. I had it towed to a local shop and they said the tensioner failed and it bent all the valves. I have called to get the shop to try and help me with this situation since a few weeks before my car stopped they assured me nothing was wrong and that is just the sound the engine makes. The managers will not speak to me, I have left several messages with the service department, and none have been returned. They assigned a sales manager to speak with me to tell me that they would do the repairs, but I would have to pay for EVERYTHING. Or I could trade the car. They were NOT willing to help. Now I am stuck with 7000.00 in repairs. read more

My boyfriend took his car to be diagnosed by this "dealership". First, they try to rob him by giving him estimates in the $2,000s (could take it somewhere else for cheaper). Then, after he PAYS them for the diagnosis (Huddle down the road would do this for FREE), they give him attitude and won't move the car that is barricading him in. He had to ask not ONE, not TWO, but THREE employees to move the car. One guy went outside to smoke and was on his cell phone, another just took a phone call for 8 minutes, ignoring his present paying customer. After 25 minutes of not being able to move his car, someone finally comes out to move the car for him without saying a word. We were both late to class. Pathetic and uncalled for. I am a very patient and nice person and it takes a lot to upset me; this is even the first review I am ever writing but obviously I had to. read more
