I wanted to express what an absolutely positive experience I had with Matheny Motors. My son has been overseas in the military for the past six years. He will be coming back to the states next month to finish his last two years before retirement from the Air Force. He isn't going to have a lot of time when he gets to Parkersburg before he has to pick up some belongings and head to Utah. He asked me if, since I was his power of attorney, I could go ahead and find a good truck and sign all the paperwork for him. My wife and I spent a day and drove through all of the car lots in Parkersburg and Marietta and found one that had all of the options he wanted at Matheny Motors. We expressed to the salesman that we would take it. There was an issue that needed resolved but regardless we would take it and be back. The salesman was off the next day and for whatever reason, the truck was sold the day he was off. When I called at 9AM the next morning when he returned, he told me what had happened. Needless to say I was upset but there is nothing that can be done at that point. Heather Whitlock, the new car sales manager found out about the issue and called me. We had a discussion and she simply asked what she could do to fix the problem. After some more discussion, she began looking for what my son was interested in and within a few hours, called me with what she found. The vehicle she found had more options and was, really, a better vehicle then what we had originally chose. We went down, test drive it, loved it, and sat down to work out a deal. Heather immediately said that she felt terrible about what had happened and offered a price that was truly, better than I had ever imagined. There was no haggle and no back and forth. The next day I took a check to Heather and picked up the truck. I have purchased new and used vehicles for many decades but have NEVER had such an outstanding experience in buying a vehicle. Heather Whitlock and Sean Tallman, another salesman that assisted me were the best, and both bent over backwards to make this the sales experience we all dream about when we think of a car purchase. If you are interested in a great deal with great staff and a great dealership, I would highly recommend visiting Matheny Motors. I do not think you will be disappointed. I drove up here from Huntington to look at a GMC Yukon last year. A guy by the name of Tim Stanley helped me out. After a little haggling we agreed on a price and we were able to come back and pick it up the next day with how quickly my funds had cleared. I was pleasantly surprised with how nice Tim was and how nice he was to my then-1 year old son, talkin about how he had grandkids that size etc. Great guy to work with, if you go here, look for him, you won't be disappointed. I appreciate their straightforwardness as well as their attitudes. They treated me and my family like people instead of like walking wallets. Terrible service department! TPMS sensors went bad on my Suzuki Kizashi. I called Matheny's where I purchased the car new, to price new sensors. They were Priced over $100. Suzuki is out of business so aftermarket is all that is available. I bought a direct replacement on line $22. I asked about getting them installed. $78 per wheel to install. Mahones did it for $17. I was told you get them installed we can program it. So now I have them installed and go back to Matheny for programming. 30 minutes later they charge me $30 for nothing but bad advice. Sensors don't work. They will trouble shoot at $175 per hour and it could take hours. Advice pay them $100 for sensors, $78 to install them and another $30 to program. That is almost $800 to repair TPMS on a $3000 Car! Purchased new at Matheny and serviced there. The Employees reflect the "I don't give a shit" attitude of Mike Matheny. They will treat you nice till they get your money then once you have paid you do not matter. Service lied to me! I followed their advice and it cost me over $100 to still have a bad TPMS system. NEVER Again will you steal from me Mike Matheny! read more

SHADY!!! I bought a vehicle from this place that was "GM CERTIFIED" drove up to PA and got it inspected. SUPRISE...it failed with both front tires on secondary rubber and both passenger side marker bulbs burned out. GM certified mechanic said tires had 9/32 tread on the check list yet GMC dealer in PA said they have 1/32 inner tread(I have pictures to prove it) When I called dealership they said that tires pass WV inspection and that I signed off on the vehicle. Translation: "we got ya sucker" I then forwarded all the evidence onto GM and they said that the dealer stands behind their inspection(of course they do, Duh) and GM said its a "sales" issue between me and the dealer. PATHETIC!!! I'll never buying another GM as they will stand behind their SHADY dealership over their customer. read more

I've only had great experiences with Matheny Motors so far. My first vehicle with Matheny Motors was a 2015 Acadia. I enjoyed this vehicle, but when the 2017 Acadias arrived I was excited to upgrade as the overall driving experience was much smoother. I had a few issues with that model including the screen issue and even a scary incident when the acadia wouldn't start in the parking lot at work. That was the most problematic vehicle I've ever had, but the dealership always seemed to do their best with resolving the issues. At the end of the day, I think GMC quality control was the main issue. In 2019, I traded in and upgraded to a 2019 Buick envision and that was such a lifechanger. That has been my favorite vehicle I have ever owned, and the dealership was able to price match when I found a marginally better deal at a local competitor. I see myself being happy with my Buick for several years, but when I'm ready to upgrade again I will definitely be returning to see what the new Buicks at Matheny Motors have to offer. read more

It was nice they gave us a loaner while our car was being fixed, but they did not fix the rotors as we asked. This is twice now that we have asked them to fix while they've had our vehicle. It is really annoying that the car was sitting on the lot for 5 days and is only partially fixed. read more

Use caustion when purchasing a used vehicle. They use a "detailing spray" that gets on the belts and makes a whining sound. The sound can mask thenoise of underlying issues. Whether intentional or not can be debated. On day two, the car wouldn't start so I called the salesman and notified him of my situation. He said it sounded like the battery, which wasn't covered by the warranty. Only the drive train. Well, guess what isn't working if the car won't start. The drive train. You would think courtesy would have taken over and I wouldn't have been left stranded. Month four, I still have the whining noise and now a check engine light. I call Matheny service as instructed, only to find that they can't diagnosed this type of vehicle and I need to go to Wharton's. Who is top notch, but expensive, by the way. Now I'm floating half the bill after my purchased warranty on a new transmission. Yup, drive train. I suggest they understand the limitations of their business model before selling a specific vehicle. Not pleased. Would not recommend to a friend. read more

I purchased a truck 1 1/2 months ago and had to have it back 3 times for repair. First time - a week after it was purchased the tire light came on. Second time - it wouldn't shift. When I took it back they told me that it had blown a fuse and they replaced the fuse. Third time - blew a fuse again. Took it back to service and they told me they had no idea what was causing the fuse to blow. They refused to give me a "loaner" car told me that they didn't do that. I went for a week with no car and service still had no idea what was wrong. I ended up trading the truck back and buying another vehicle so I could have something to drive. To top it off - the same day that I purchased my other vehicle they put the truck I purchased back on the lot for sale. Good look to person that buys that truck. The only good thing I can say is that Matt Payne - the finance gentleman - was great to work with. I was very disappointed with the salesman I worked with and the service department. read more
