I was charged almost $45 for them to just sit with my car in the lot for 4 hours. Not to mention, every time I was in the location (I stopped in 3 times to check on my car) one of the mechanics was standing in the customer side of the shop and was not even working on my car. I understand that there was only two mechanics when I took the car, but a tire repair should not take that long, especially when I had an appointment at 3pm. I'm beyond frustrated and will never recommend this place to anyone else and will in fact do my best to keep people I care about from coming here.

Wal-Mart did not place the O ring to the filter's casing. And they stripped out my drain bolt. This was a full synthetic oil change with a performance filter. Over $80. Because the lube guy was inexperienced I had to redo my $80 oil change and replace the bolt. Thanks for stealing my money.

I can safely say I have no stress when my vehicle is in their hands. They are a busy shop, so often times you will have to leave your vehicle with them until they can tend to it.

Our daughter, who was familiar with the Athens area (she graduated from Ohio U.) told me about Sundown Garage. We quickly got a hotel room ( it was Father's Day' so not much was open). I called and left a message (they didn't open until 9M on Monday) and I called again the next morning. I was able to get the car down to them and spoke with Danny and Will. Will drive me back to our hotel, stopping at a grocery store on the way back to our hotel so we would have some food. The next day he picked me up and drove me down to Athens to pick up my car. This is the kind of service you hope for in our country, but is so rare. I thought the cost of the repairs was more than reasonable. I have always liked Athens (I grew up in Youngstown, but moved 8 times with my jobs) and if I was beginning retirement I might consider moving here, but I am almost 78. We took my older family mini van to Athens Transmission because it was leaking Transmission fluid…read more They were able to take a look at it right away. Unfortunately they discovered that the front seal was damaged. He advised me that the rebuild of the transmission would be about $4000 , but based on age and mileage more than 250k he didn't recommend that. I really respected his honesty and advice. He could have tried to convince me to spend the money to fix it,but he didn't. That kind of honesty is rare in the auto repair business in my experience. He did give me some advice on how to keep the van running a bit longer and I appreciated that. I 100% would recommend this shop if you have transmission issues.

We also have dinner plans 6 hours away that next day and if we can't get this fixed quickly the next day we are not going to make it. We had this exact scenario happen along US50. The car suddenly starts slowing down on its own, we limped off the highway onto a (what seemed) remote road and pulled into a parking lot. Instantly I'm checking Yelp for towing services and repair facilities. I found that we were just a short distance from Athens Transmission. They were closed, but I made sure my vehicle was there waiting for them first thing in the morning. Patrick contacted me first thing, just before they opened. He said they should be able to take a look at it today. He asked if I was just passing through, which I was. I had a nice lady that was willing to drive us to and from our BNB and I didn't want to put her out. About 11am that morning Patrick called to let me know it was all finished and ready to pick up. I was stunned! I was already looking for car rentals or a Uhaul to drive home. He explained it was just a radiator hose and they had one in stock and were able to get me on the road right away. We are so grateful! I know they were busy, but they were able to squeeze us in and get us back on the road. What a team! We even made our dinner arrangements :) When I received the follow up a couple days later to check that all was well, I was even more impressed. A great team, friendly people, impressive service, and professional follow up. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Athens Transmission and their amazing service!

He gave me a quote of $3,000+ to replace the engine. However, he recommended that I junk the car. He said he'd give me $350 for it and would haul it to the junk yard. I agreed, thinking the car wasn't worth another few thousand dollars since I had already put in over $1,000 at his shop. That was a few months ago. Today I drove by and saw the same car for sale. I stopped in and asked him how much he wanted for it. He told me, "Whatever I can get." The point of the story is that this guy either lied to me or he's trying to sell a hunk of junk. Steve and his shop are not trustworthy. Avoid them.
