I spent about $1500 on tires, bought the warranty they said covers "everything." End of summer 2024 I was having issues with my tires, went back to Firestone, they said I voided my warranty by not rotating my tires with them every 3000 miles. What?! I'm almost 50, i have never had my tires rotated - ever - and not once had a problem. Could drive for 30k miles + on any other tires I've owned. Until those tires. They said I needed all 4 tires again. So I finally listened to my coworkers and went to A&J in RI and he hooked me up with 4 almost new tires for $400. The same price as ONE tire anywhere else. It's been about 3 months driving on them and they have been great! No slipping in the rain, controlled stops, no leaks, etc. Excellent service! I called one day to see what they had in stock and they were installed the next day while i waited. The only thing I would have done differently was to go to A & J the first tine.

I called my Roadside Service who said they'd get someone there soon. Numerous calls/texts back kept telling me different arrival times. Four hours later they finally texted me the number for Kendall in Rock Island and said they were on the way. I called Kendall and spoke with a real person, Kaylee, who was pleasant and helpful and said that Dustin, the driver, would be there soon. Sure enough he arrived and was helping another motorist he stumbled upon who was struggling to change a flat. He soon got my car loaded and we headed east to my dealer to drop it off. He knew exactly where he was going and drove safely the entire trip of 2 hours+. I was worried that a driver on a hot Sunday, 3 hours from home, would not be a joy to ride with, especially a guy 40 years younger the me. My fears were completely wrong - his attitude was so upbeat he made me forgot about the awful day I was having. We had a great conversation about many things, i.e. his different jobs, my different jobs, his goals and work ethic, his new son at home, etc. He dropped me and my car off and was still in an upbeat mood facing a 3 hour drive back home just before dark. To close a rambling story, I was stranded far from home and Kendall came through on a Sunday with supportive, friendly people who did the job better than I could have hoped. The next morning, people recommended J&W Automotive Repair and called him for me. He made an appointment right away. When the tire proved unfixable (too many small holes from being driven on), he contacted his business associates until he found a tire sales enterprise that sold my car's size tire. They told one amount for repairs then tried to change the amount right after. Finally got them to honor the original amount they told (which was still $200 more than any other shop would charge for the work, made plenty of calls and did my homework) and they claimed their card reader was down. Considering I work handling financial legal matters, I then verified twice that I could get a money order to bring in to pay their already steep price. The individual on the phone said yes-- TWICE. So obtained the $900 money order, filled it out to their "business" - since after all, isn't that what they are SUPPOSED to be - then upon arrival to pay them and pick up the vehicle the very shady and dishonest mechanic demanded cash only. Anyone with two brain cells is aware money orders are still cash in hand, but I guess when a company is most likely trying to get away with being underhanded on their books and taxes, they do not want to have any paper trail. Completely unprofessional. On the plus side, they have now been properly reported to the IRS, BBB, and local business authorities. While this is a civil matter (although it SHOULD be criminalized) at least I was able to provide enough actual evidence to know they will be investigated within the fiscal year and my greatest hope is that the mechanics at this horror sow of a shop decide to magically become actual DECENT human beings and stop screwing their patrons over. Utilizing their "services" the one time out of necessity and not choice was still one time too many. Lesson learned-- save yourself and RUN from this shyster slum shop.
