We went to Hula Daddy Kona Coffee as a little side trip as we traveled north. We were a bit confused on which driveway to use, but the clock tower the sure sign of where to turn in. A bit off the beaten path, it turned out to be a very peaceful place to rest a bit. As you can see from my pics, they have a great open view of their farm and beyond. The hostess was engaging and welcoming. They had a few different coffees to choose from and we enjoyed all of them. As you can see from my pics this is a boutique farm and is very simple and quaint.

You looking for coffee that will instantly be your favorite coffee ever and a real ohana welcome, who could ask for anything more? Following a brief visit and an informative short tour to another coffee place on the mountain, I was determined to find better Kona coffee and a better vibe at another coffee grower spot. After reading the reviews, I bought in to Hula Daddy and let me tell you... Yelp has never been more right. You will hate every cup of coffee you've ever had before, after sampling the Hula Daddy Linda's Reserve coffee. The craziest thing is that they have even better coffee available... I can't imagine how coffee could be better than this! Linda's Reaerve is only a 96/100. There are 98s available. I was happy with this find and I grabbed some to take home. Linda's Reserve is an award winning coffee well deserving of any and every accolade available to coffee roasters. Folks, if you can't visit the place and spend some time talking with the proprietor- Karen, find them online and order some of this coffee. I kid you not, it will change your idea of what coffee should be like forever. It is not a cheap cup of coffee but it is worth every penny you spend on it. Locally owned, small batch, lovingly hand harvested and traditionally processed is not an easy thing to achieve but these folks do it with such amazing results.

    Freshly roasted and brewed coffee!

Karen was so great! She showed us all the cool stuff at her farm and was thoroughly pleasant to converse with. She showed us her process from start to finish, ending with a great tasting of some freshly roasted beans. The location is absolutely beautiful -being on the slopes of Kona is incomparable. just don't listen to Apple Maps, as it took us down a wrong road, whoops! If you're looking for a quality Kona coffee farm tour, look no further. Definitely might be ordering some beans to the mainland...

Had a wonderful tour with Sue at Hula Daddy! We learned so many cool and new things about how coffee is produced not only at Hula Daddy but also all of Hawaii. Also If you have the chance to see Laura at work, you will be absolutely amazed!

I love coffee, and while I'm largely ignorant of the process that brings it to my cup every day, I especially love Kona coffee. It was a dream come true to visit the region and learn from Karen and Laura about the prices of growing one of the highest rated coffee brands (not just Kona) in the world. We did the tour, which is worth every penny, and learned about Karen's very intentional approach to growing the perfect Kona cherry. She and her team automate nothing. It's all laboriously driven by hand. That is amazing. It was also helpful to learn how this applies to the coffee growers and the means they use to create coffee en masse. Really... intentional might be the wrong word. Obsessive is probably more accurate. After the tour, Laura, one of a handful of Coffee Q graders, allowed me to try the Red Bourbon variety and helped me better understand what flavors might better appeal to me in coffee. This is boutique coffee on a whole next level, so if you aren't interested in learning about the process or prepared to spend some serious money on beans, it's probably not for you. But my daughter, who isn't much of a true brewed coffee drinker, loved it and said it was really informative.

It was a bit overwhelming to figure out what coffee farms to visit on the island, but thanks to the Reddit community we settled on visiting / buying from Hula Daddy Kona Coffee! We stopped by early in the morning to try some of their coffee and check out the beans. We didn't do a tour (we're pretty well versed in coffee farming/roasting), but we were able to enjoy a gorgeous view of the farm and the ocean in the background. For tastings, we were able to try their Medium Roast Karen J Red Bourbon and their Dark Roast Karen J Red Bourbon Natural Process. It was our first time having a natural process coffee and despite being a dark roast... it was actually pretty fruit forward for a coffee. The medium roast was also good, not too harsh/burnt and well rounded for a coffee. You can enjoy the tastings on their front deck (they have rocking chairs) but we were allowed to enjoy them inside on the couch with the view. The fiance is a huge coffee fanatic and this was the only place we ended up buying beans from. Kona coffe is quite expensive, but we felt like this was worth it. Make sure to check out when they're open as their days/hours are limited.

My husband is a huge coffee fanatic. He already told me ahead of time that we were coming here during our trip. We actually tried to come here our first day on the Big Island. We arrived shortly they opened on a Tuesday. We were greeted promptly to try their samples. My husband and I ventured in and Laura started chatting with my husband. She offered to let us try beans she just roasted a couple days. We ended up buying three bags! My husband had a great time and was giddy the rest of the day. Thanks Laura! Tours weren't offered due to covid but you can walk around.

Coffee tasting - dark roast and light roast.

My wife and I visited Hula Daddy and took the tour. It's about 1 hour and covers the lower farm area and ends with a wonderful tasting. We had an awesome time learning about coffee farming and the coffee was truly incredible.

One of the best coffees in the world!

Such a fun, detailed, and informative coffee tour! I admit, my visit was pre-COVID times and I'm just getting around to reviewing. The views of the coast and ocean and gorgeous and the coffee is incredibly toasty, full-bodied, and not at all bitter or too acidic. Freshly roasted and extremely high quality. We left with two bags of coffee beans and a bag of chocolate covered espresso beans. Worth the visit. Pricey beans, but also worth it.

Fun tour at about 1500 feet, overlooking the Ocean, Beach and Kona area. They fight off the goats and feral pigs and harvest some damn good coffee. The ride up from the resort areas is fascinating in that we don't have roads at that angle in Illinois. Felt like we were going straight up at times Recommended stop if you're on the Big Island.

We enjoyed our impromptu tour here as the entire staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable but also realize this won't be for everyone. The main reason is the tour costs $15 per person and the coffee is expensive ($60+ per pound). All of this to say I understand it, and we even bought some coffee - BUT, you can get a free tour at most coffee farms and learn the same, if not more, information on the growing process. So consider this the high end, or maybe highest end, that you will see in Kona and your expectations will be met.

As coffee lovers, Heavenly Hawaiian constantly came up in my research and I'm glad we toured for ourselves. The grounds itself are absolutely gorgeous and that view from the hill onto the ocean is unreal! I can't for the life of me remember our tour guides name but she was such a joy and extremely knowledgeable. Learning about the different coffee variants that are grown such as Kona typica, Progeny 502, and the "boujee girl" Geisha was awesome to learn about and see for ourselves. Did I mention endless coffee sampling? Such a relaxing atmosphere to sip all the coffee you want and enjoy that view. And the cutest cats on the property were such a delight mingling with the guests. All staff members were so helpful and they even treated us with a goodie bag of freshly picked fruits from the farm and a bag of peaberry bites (my new favorite) all as a thank you for paying a visit on our honeymoon! Was not expecting that all but such a sweet gesture! I would highly recommend Heavenly Hawaiian farms to anyone if you're on the Big Island or in the Kona area. I wish they would have let me take a to-go cup of coffee after the tour, especially after paying for two tickets + $70 of bagged coffee, but they unfortunately limited me to the little sample cups with no lids. That's the only thing keeping this from being a 5-star review.

I'd give the *tour*, which they only do a couple times a week, so we had to adjust our schedule a bit to make it to one, a 4/5. It was interesting, but you don't actually get to see any chocolate being made, a lot of it was just discussion (albeit: discussion while standing in a production cacao orchard - I'd never actually *seen cacao trees in person, they are pretty cool! Cool, but also full of spider webs.) They also cut open a fresh, ripe, not-processed-yet cacao bean at the end of the tour, and we got to try a little bit (it's delicious - sweet and fruity, nothing like chocolate. I wish we'd gotten to eat a bit more of it, honestly.) It was an interesting tour, not sure it was worth the extra planning it took to be there for it though - other than the fresh cacao fruit, you don't get anything you can't also try in the gift shop any time of day.
