While I can appreciate the gorgeous ocean view and the incredible lush greens surrounding the property I'd be lying if I said they were the draws to this location. A quick tour through the separating and roasting rooms gave some depth to the finished product, but ultimately the smell of that ground up bean is too tantalizing to resist. You can buy authentic, 100% Kona coffee anywhere if you try hard enough. You fly 3500 miles across the country from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean for the peaberry blend. The view is just a bonus. The trip was worth the 10.5 hour flight.
What a peaceful and memorable experience we shared at Kona Joes! From the moment we walked up to get a coffee we were greeted by Kenzie. After ordering our drinks and hearing about the tours, we decided to book one. Kenzie ended up being our tour guide. She was very knowledgeable, pleasant, friendly and passionate about coffee. She made the whole experience enjoyable. Not only is the views breathtaking, but the coffee was amazing too. We even stopped by again during our stay in Kona and shipped some to our home. If you're a coffee lover I highly recommend grabbing a cup of Kona Joe!
Stopped here on a whim and so glad we did, once you pass the parking lot you are met with the most unexpected and magical view. Staff was very friendly and informative on the options. I'm not a huge coffee drinker but our friends were, I opted for a shake with coffee in it and honestly it was delicious. The best part was sitting and relaxing enjoying the view.
Even if the coffee were to be bad here. The view would make up for it. Such a beautiful setting. And lucky for us, the coffee was so good too. The service was friendly and quick. We sat here taking in the beauty while sipping on warm coffees that morning. What more could you want?
There are many coffee shops and plantations in Kona and the surrounding areas, but none of them have the view that Kona Joes has. Great coffee, and great service. Love this place.
Kona Joe's is by far my favorite coffee spot in Kona! I was here two years ago and have been dreaming about their coffee ever since. Finally back -- this time with my mom and sister and they love it just as much as I do. We all had the caramel macchiato with coconut milk, which is absolutely delicious. And the view? You simply can't beat it. Perfect coffee, amazing atmosphere, and the best start to any Kona morning!
Fish tacos at a coffee plantation?!?!? Yes! You can get delicious Baja California -inspired grilled Ono fish tacos on Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday from 11am to 4pm at Kona Joe's. The order window is located where the tour film is viewed; and you are able to enjoy your delightful meal (fish tacos, birria tacos, quesadillas, etc.) while taking in Kona Joe's breathtaking view. This place is amazing. The view is breathtaking and absolutely just for that worth coming here. I will say their service is a bit limited, I think they're kinda understaffed and your coffee will vary with whichever barista is available. I wish they had more food choices, that would make this place even more amazing. Just some pastries and bagels. But unfortunately due to lack of staff I think that's kinda impossible as of now to increase their food choices. They have a lovely gift shop as well to purchase company's coffee, mugs, etc. Anyway when in town, this place is a must visit!
Great place to visit if you are driving from the Kailua-Kona area to visit 'the Volcano'. Or, just drive south and come get some coffee for the day. They offer coffee tours and classes but didn't catch one when we stopped by. However, we just wanted to get a good cup of coffee and enjoy the view and Kona Joe's delivered on both of those. Check out my pics but the view is great! And, they have on site parking

I didn't do the tour, but you can try samples in the nice gift store and I did that. I walked out to the lawn to soak up the amazing view and helped a few tourists take photos. There is a little cafe where you can just soak up the amazing view too. Definitely check it out.
Great coffee...so good! Beautiful mountain setting to sip a latte while enjoying a panoramic ocean view! Bought 2 bags of 100% kona coffee to bring home, though not 100% from their farm. Hopefully they have a bigger production next year, cause it's really delicious coffee! Highly recommend!
My family did the $30 tour & it was awesome! The tour was quick about 30 min but packed with information. The girl who gave our tour was incredibly kind and informative. The two girls making coffee were also very knowledgeable and friendly as well. The farm itself has a great view and the coffee was very tasty. Definitely worth making the stop!
Such great views of the Pacific Ocean down below the coffee fields, and you certainly cannot go wrong with that. Kona Joe's Coffee is definitely one of the many great coffee farms to check out, and they offer a variety of different tours. I went with their "Combined Tour", and that also included roasting my own coffee beans (in a 10 oz. bag) and a cute Kona Joe's souvenir mug as well as touring their facilities! And a fresh cup of Kona Joe Coffee was also included, and it was nice and refreshing, especially as someone who loves and depends on coffee a lot nowadays.
Excellent cup of coffee, very smooth and delicious! The coffee tour gave a great introduction to coffee roasting from bean to bag which included a sample, also had a video of the wet and dry process, live demonstration of the Italian roaster, and gift at the end. Purchase the 100% Kona Joe Coffee and purchase it as a whole bean coffee versus the ground so it can taste more fresh and you can experience the scent of Kona. Don't forget to tip the tour guide and go to the cafe to enjoy! read more

Pulled in by the story and stayed for the coffee as overprices as it is. It was so strong I had to dump half of that $15 cup away. Service was fine. There was no friendliness from the lady with the accent packing coffee and the barista was fine. Improve this and people would pay for those tours instead of a self-guided one. All in all the view and coffee was great and we captured some great images of the coffee plants and the ocean background. So lovely! read more

Beautiful peaceful location with panoramic view! Coffee fresh and smooth! So good I got a second cup. Wanted breakfast too but we couldn't find where to order. Finally found it as we were leaving, we think, tucked to the side of the classroom. Hummm Nice gift shop too. read more

If you love coffee worth a stop for a small time family grower and roaster with a small terrace with great views and a little cup of Joe (LOL). Interesting Joe uses trellis method to grow his plants like wine, claims it is better and makes his patented growth the best read more

Awesome informative tour. My bad for not remembering our tour guide's name but he was only 20 year old & knew his stuff. This place had the best views. Quite phenomenal. Coffee tasted good & also the chocolate pea berry bean that wifey got a bag. Wanted to buy a T-shirt but they only had small sizes! Thank you Insight vacay for including this our tour & for the coffee mugs & coffee. Unfortunately our coffee bag wasn't sealed well that we lost most of it on our travels. Nonetheless we enjoyed! read more

We did the self-guided tour and it was so great. We took it at our pace and it is so informative. There were 2 resident dogs and they were so friendly. I'm so happy for them. It is such a picturesque spot and when we went to the Cafe portion, it overlooked the entire grounds. We got the latte and Mojo which was a cappuccino with orange. It paired so well and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We also got the tuxedo muffin which went well. We got to enjoy some beautiful views and light rain. It was such a relaxing place. read more

This view is unmatched! I loved my coffee and warm banana muffin. Kona Joe's is spacious with plenty of seating and a place for kids to run around. I came here to enjoy a cup of coffee and read for a few hours with breezy ocean views. The employees were great, and I can't wait to visit again! read more
As always, amazing view, wonderful coffee and pleasant place to hang out and eat, drink, and enjoy the view. When it is hot and humid down near the beach, Kona Joe is our safe heaven. Cool breeze and overcast, we just like to sit here and gaze at the ocean, over a brashly brewed Kona Joe coffee and bagel with cream cheese or yummy donuts! read more

Coffee shop located inside of a coffee farm. I ordered a iced vanilla coffee with oatmilk. It was really smooth and not bitter at all. A bit too sweet. The views are amazing and it's definitely nice to have a seat and just enjoy the incredible views! Plenty of seating! The guy serving the drinks was a bit odd. He came off really rude as if he expected us to know what each type of coffee was. I had a super weird vibe from him. Overall it was good, but there's better coffee around the island. Love this place almost don't wanna leave a review so it stays a sweet secret. Beautiful view, nice and spacious for enjoying a good cup of coffee in the mornings. Binoculars for kids to keep themselves occupied looking at boats and dolphins out in the ocean. And if you want tourist stuff you can do a tour of the coffee factory and buy gifts to take home. Same girls working all the time and they're always so sweet and helpful. read more

Amazing tour experience in a wonderful atmosphere ! Casey was our tour guide and was fantastic with a great customer attitude and very informative about all aspects of the coffee brewing process! The roasting experience was amazing! Truly a science & art which Casey clearly demonstrated to us! Highly recommended for anyone interested in learning about the coffee industry! Great job folks! I don't have anything to report in regards to their tours, but my experience from the gift shop and the view alone are worth the five stars. We loved all of the varieties we were able to sample in addition to their chocolate covered coffee beans. They have a nice, clean restroom and reasonable prices - really friendly staff as well! read more

Kona Joe's is in my top 3 for best view from a coffee farm on Big Island! Anytime I have family and friends visit, this is one of the places I like to bring them to soak in the beautiful view of the ocean, coastline and coffee trees. This to me is the ultimate "Kona Experience". There is an open-air cafe that you can order lattes, colf brews, french presses and pour overs with a limited food option, mostly pastries. Next to the cafe is a big lawn with a few tables and chairs set up where you can enjoy your coffee and enjoy the view and nice breeze. There is even a telescope that takes change so you can get a closer look of the ocean and maybe spot a whale when in season between November - April. Pro tip: Go through the gift shop and sample a few of their different roasts and beans before ordering your cup of "Joe" at the cafe. The gift shop also offers lots of gourmet snacks, chocolates, and Kona Joe swag. read more

I am a regular coffee drinker and love supporting local coffee shops even if that means spending $7-8 for a small latte I was super excited to do a Kona coffee tour while vacationing. Perhaps I was expecting too much for $25 tour? The tour entailed watching two short videos, showing un-roasted coffee bean vs roasted. Definitely, a nice peaceful view and tour included a free mug and a small sample cup of coffee. Unfortunately, their coffee was not great tasting... not enough to buy any beans or coffee drinks. read more
