I had the Pulehu chicken which was awesome, absolutely incredible. Sadly, the race was under cooked, not what I'm used to growing up in Hawaii. My family loves Poki... The waitress said she didn't care much for spicy Poki so I ordered a $22 container of the regular Poki... The waitress pointed to a container in the wall and told me was that was the size I was ordering. Wrong, got screwed. Got home, found the container was only HALF FULL!!! I guess it was screw the haoli day at Hula's. Poki was good, although honestly, I think Sugaiga's is mo better, their containers are packed full, and they're clear, so you know you're not getting taken, Plus it's usually only $8-12 for the same quantity of Poki. So, if you go to Hula's, take your rice and check the Poki container before you leave...Hana Ho! read more

I Love that they deliver! Small $5 fee but worth it if you're feeling lazy. Food always arrives hot and promptly after ordering. Everything is always amazing and it's def the best Mac salad I've had in town. Also my fave chicken Katsu I've had anywhere in Anchorage. If you love island food this is a must! Great customer service, friendly staff. If you're from Hawaii and looking for a taste of the islands, then this is the spot to visit! Had lunch with my mom, we ordered, I ordered a large saimin. My mom received her meal, at the same time the waitress (young & overweight she's been their awhile. I'll call her okole girl) said, their cooking my meal. How long does it take to whip up saimin? It doesn't take long to cook saimin, Okole girl! I never received my meal! Paid (NO TIP-she doesn't care) for my mom's meal, okole girl said, do you want your saimin to go? LOL hahahaha, Did I order my meal to go? I asked her, what happened? She blamed the cook! It's not the cook's fault, it's your fault okole girl, for not following up with the cook for your clients! OKOLE GIRL doesn't care! She was apologetic! Doesn't mean anything! That was her intentions! She was happy my meal never came, and I was happy I didn't include a tip! TIP for today okole girl, you SERIOUSLY need TRAINING on how to treat your clients! We went for lunch while working on JBER, don't be put off by the exterior - it's actually kitchy and cozy inside. The food is fast and very tasty. I had the 'mini' lunch plate with pig and chicken which was plenty of food. I'm happy and will be back. read more

It's been a while since I ate here, about 2 months or so, and I'm leaving a review based on that experience and what I can remember. Both the kalua pork and mac salad were very oily, and in my opinion a little unsettling to eat. The flavor was still good, it was just the amount of grease that I couldn't handle. My husband on the other hand absolutely loved this place. He went in to order take-out and said the staff was very friendly and the restaurant smelled AMAZING. We will be back to try some other food items on the menu and probably dine-in next time. read more

I grew up on Big Island, and plenty of my O'Hana [Family] still lives on the Leeward Sunny Side. Being from the islands myself and having pretty high standards Hulu Hands isn't too bad. The staff are friendly and I haven't had any issues with my orders. Calling for take out has always been great as well. Its defiantly one of the only places in Anchorage worth going to for Hawaiian BBQ. read more

This was my first time going here, I went with my boyfriend for dinner. I liked the vibe & the setup of the restaurant but I was not a fan of my food. I ordered the Chicken Chow Mein because that's one of my favorite foods but when it came out I was extremely disappointed. The chicken doesn't even look nor taste like chicken, it was super greasy, & just didn't taste like Chow Mein. I understand it's not a Hawaiian dish, but if you're going to have something on your menu, you should know how to make it the way it's supposed to be made. Very kind & friendly staff tho read more

I've had literally hundreds of pounds of Hawaiian food in my day and I can say that Hula Hands is right up there with the best. I had the teriyaki beef and the short ribs and it was spot on. Not bad, but not my favorite. I doubt I'll ever crave it. Our waiter was super friendly- we chatted with him about how we celebrated Christmas and he talked to us about visiting his family in Hawaii. My husband loved the food. Granted, he really likes spam while I try to hide his "emergency stash." Hey! We were volunteering at the HUGGS event in the area and with the help of Yelp reviews we deiced to have lunch at Hula Hands. We got a table and were served even though the place was busy with locals and military men and women from the local base. We ordered one of the daily specials:. Pulehu chicken and Kalyan Pig with 2 rice and 1 macaroni salad with ice tea. Our meal came quickly and it was tasty. It was a great meal and my wife said the Macaroni Salad was the best she has had in Anchorage. Even better the bill came to $11. read more

Best food! Good proportions. Super nice but when I walked in to pick my order up the lady who check me out didn't put on a mask until she was across from me. She also didn't wear a mask correctly. The employees in the back didn't have mask on either, closed toed shoes or gloves. A guy came up front while laughing and saw a customer was here and went back behind the curtain. Probably because he didn't have a mask on. What's funny is that they have signs everywhere about covid and the city mandates but they themselves cannot properly follow protocol. Disappointing because It's not very clean In there either but I've learned sometimes the dirty honest restaurants have the best food. Hula Hands is amazing. My family had just gotten back from the big Island, and we were so surprised at how closely Hula hands menu was to authentic Hawaiian food. There's a few in town too choose from but this store is the best to go. Quite attentive staff and friendly. I have had worse service at other locations that I'd never return. But I like the teriyaki chicken plate with the rice macaroni combo is my favorite. Great combination and flavor and the food doesn't take very long.
