I have never eaten at the establishment so i can't comment on the ambiance but we get delivery at the office from there at least twice a month from here. Food isn't amazing but I will say it is consistently decent. It's more of a middle of the board 3. But it's comfort food and their delivery service is quick! It helps the office is near their establishment so that may be helpful in the end but the driver is always so friendly so that will go a long way with me and they're very nice on the phone when we place our office order. This is a great hole in the wall place! My first experience here and the food here is great. I ordered a hot pepperoni sub which at first glance looked sad but in between the buns there was a good inch of pepperoni. Felt like I was eating just pepperoni after the first couple of bites, which did feel kinda heavy. My only complaint is that I wish I got more fries :( but overall it was a good sub. My partner had the teriyaki burger, which looked very appetizing!! He said it had the best combination of sweet and savory with the pineapple and teriyaki glaze. Seems like the place where you constantly get good service because the owner (assuming) helped up decided what we should get. Apart from burgers and subs, they also offer oriental food. Scottie's exudes the motley crew of food styles you find in Alaska eateries: they have breakfast stuff, they have Chinese/Asian stuff, they have burgers, and...of course, they have subs. It's located downtown and it's one of the cheaper (if not the cheapest) place to grab a meal there. Interior is dated, it's not sexy but it's functional. Menu is also very old school in style. It uses those slide-in-letters like you might see at a mom n pop banana split stand in rural Wisconsin. I got a pastrami breakfast sandwich. Because I'm a wierdo, I subbed kimchi for the fries. It was a good meal. I wish the bun was a bit more breakfasty and a bit less hamburgery though. They also didn't have any black coffee, which is odd for a place that does breakfast foods. read more

Absolutely the worst subs we've ever had in our lives. How does one screw up turkey and corned beef sandwiches? You have to try real hard. From the bread to the meat to the wrong toppings, it was a miserable experience. After hours of driving and more to go, it was disheartening. This place needs to be out of business. read more

Had lunch here today with a colleague. It's close enough to my office that I could walk, so the location is nice. The service left a bit to be desired though. The shop employee was rather short with us and seemed to be in a grumpy mood. We spoke to her through two sheets of plastic barriers and she demanded we pay her through a curtain that she reached her hand under. Seemed a bit sketchy (like an illegal deal going down)... thanks covid. ‍‍ Anyhow, I ordered a club sandwich (generally a safe bet at a new restaurant) and my colleague ordered a burger of some kind with pepperoni on it. Mine was ok, nothing to write home about; and she said hers was pretty good. She enjoyed the fries the most. At $10 for a cold sandwich, mine didn't come with a side. Also, I think $3 for a small bottle of unsweetened tea is gouging; but... supply and demand on a warm day; right? Leaving my personal opinion out of it, here is some helpful info: they don't offer dine in options at this time; but local delivery is only $1 according to their menu. They have a broad menu, from Asian food to American, they seem to have something for everyone. Speed is not their forte; so if you know you should 'have a Snickers' at minute 22 after turning hungry, don't show up close to the end of that time frame. For being downtown they don't charge you for it. This is great because paying for the privilege to be in Alaska is already to much, to then charge more being downtown is crazy! You know who you are! Stop charging us for stupid reasons! This place works very well in its location. Staff is friendly and fast. Food is by no means the best but it's also not bad. I feel it's better than some of the Saturday and Sunday downtown market vendors who just re package Costco food with no care or sense of pride in what they do. Small little hole in the wall place but they have great burgers or Chinese that is truly good. I often have a hard time deciding because they do both so well. They also will allow you to customize and it's not to bad on the budget. A true mom and pop place in downtown. I was visiting my son in Anchorage, and spotted this little sub job on the side of the street. I noticed they had Asian food and decided to give it a try. I'm from Honolulu and I'm used to excellent Asian food. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken with rice and a salad on the side. It's not cheap $12 in fact. However, It was Ono (delicious)! Especially during a cold day in Anchorage the hot chicken, the delicious sauce and warm rice hit the spot. If you're walking down fifth Avenue in Anchorage look for Scotty subs. Deliciousness. Just a very simple deli to grab a sandwich, chips and a coke. It's in the $6 - $10 range for a combo meal; I got the patty melt, and it was delicious, with grilled onions, cheese, and hamburger. Just in town as a stop on a landtour. Wanted a sandwich for our bus trip. Walked past and decided that we would give this little hole in the wall a go. After ordering a combo 12", ham, turkey, beef, tomatoes, union, lettuce. Came in a foam box and seemed heavy. Opened it a couple of hours later an d OH MY GOD. This was a serious sandwich, huge with thick cut meats, almost. 5-6mm thick, and more than one piece. Thickness of meat was 3" easy. Taste was very good and bread was fresh, a big roll. Over 12" long. This thing was a monster. I ate 1/2 and my wife couldn't finish hers. The people on the bus were asking WHAT THE F&@K. I stopped in for a club house sandwich and it was perfect! It had a very "homey" taste as they use simple ingredients. It was $12.50 for the sandwich and a drink. The burgers and oriental food all smelled delicious and I'll probably be coming back to try that in the future. Oh my goodness, the best fusion of foods I've had in ages. The beef bulgogi sub is 100%, grade A, awesome. I was in love with every bite. The blend of the soft hoagie roll, with delicious, tender, tangy bulgogi was decadent and the use of a cheap white american cheese made it a classic yet innovative . The juices from the bulgogi soaked into the fresh bread. I loved every bite! I wish i had ordered the macaroni salad. I am always wary of ordering potato salad or macaroni salad because there are so many I haven't liked, but I tasted my friend's mac salad and it was just like mom's! Really just about as awful as you get, greasy, cheap and lazy. I live downtown and have very little to choose from in the downtown area for cheap eats. The teriyaki is slimy and the chicken tastes old, the sandwiches are overpriced for the size and taste... Lucky Grocery and Deli just opened up around the corner with some new owners and almost the same type of menu but it is fresh and clean and they seemed to care. After reading Yo U's review I tried a Pastrami Sub, the 8" medium size was $10. It was good enough but skimpy on the meat and the cheese was barely melted. The one scoop of potatoe salad that came with it was more like cold, refrigerated left-over mashed potatoes. I was the only one in the place, so they weren't rushed or anything. I came here based on the "Dobie seal of approval", it was okay, but pricey. Being across the mall, it must be the location you're paying for. The service was more efficient than friendly: "What do you recommend?" "We have rice dishes, hamburgers,..." Weird-note: The George Clooney movie that was playing had full frontal female nudity which I do not take offence to, but I guess it was some kind of DVD they just plugged in without knowing the content. read more

Just now this happened. I work downtown and ordered 2 lunches. 1 was a Rueben with macaroni salad. The sandwiches are usually good and they are fast at delivering. Well, the mac salad did not come on the side as requested (no fries either, just a sandwich). When I called and told the woman on the phone that the mac salad was not includes, she was very rude from the start and insisted she packed it up. When I tried to explain that the order did not have it, she hung up. I called back and asked if she hung up and she said she did because the mac salad was included. I again told her that I opened the delivery bag, it contained 2 sandwiches, our sodas but the side of mac. salad was not there. I asked if perhaps she included it in another order. She continued to argue and told me it was there and that she did not pack it with someone else's order as they "were not that busy". And then she abruptly hung up. Look, I have way more to do than try to scam a deli out of a side of macaroni salad and then take time to go on YELP, but this is warranted. I called her again and asked for the name of her manager or the owner. She said, "your macaroni salad is on the way, OK?" and AGAIN hung up on me. I called again (4th time) and asked why she kept hanging up. I asked to speak to her manager and she said she WAS the manager. WOW. I asked to speak to the owner and told her I did not want to leave a bad review on Yelp or FB, at which point she replied, "I don't care, just stop calling me and your macaroni salad is on the way, OK?" and hung up AGAIN. So, here's the deal. Both of our downtown locations order from there, about 20 of us, and now they have lost not 1, but 20 regular customers because she was so rude. I am just shaking as I can't believe someone would even act like this.. P.S. The macaroni salad just arrived. I threw it away as I don't trust it now! Really?? I'm shook, people!
