This was one of the better meals I've eaten at an airport! The fish was fresh, the bowls were healthy and tasty. Not a traditional poke bowl, but was a good fusion including fresh salad and sauces and freshly made coconut rice to complement your fish. I ended up getting the Spicy Tiki Bowl with Salmon. Great place for grab and go poke. Yuzu bowl - avocado, cucumber, carrots, edamame and the protein all mixed in a yuzu/ginger sesame dressing all on top of warm sushi rice. Crispy Miso - pineapple salsa, red peppers, carrots and salmon mixed in a ponzu/creamy miso dressing on coconut rice. The difference between here and other DIY places is that they mix all the ingredients with kale and the sauce before topping the rice making for a very flavourful bite. Also grabbed a mango colada (similar to a smoothie) and kombucha to go with the bowls. Great meal and experience at Hula Poke. read more

Simply disgusting. Raw fish is dangerous. They f**king poisoned me and then they tried to gaslight me. The manager/owner said I was insane to suggest his food made me ill. I missed 2 days of work because of them. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT EAT HERE, unless of course you enjoy spending two days on the toilet. So, a couple of things about this place that I really liked, which will bring me back for more. Here it is: I like poke. I like healthy food and I love seafood, but with a lot of poke places with their additional charges, economic portions and high base prices....you feel that you end up paying more than a steakhouse. I'll give you an example. Just here in this beautiful city I've been to several poke places where I chose to share a poke bowl because I didn't want to pay 50 bucks for kale, bits of raw fish and ginger sauce. This usually has happened because of high base prices and stingy portion sizes, so you're left with "adding extra protein" on top of your base servings.....creating for yourself $$$$$$. With this place it was different and I was pleasantly surprised. I'll tell you how: First of, the portion sizes are exactly what you're paying for....no more, no less, which means their base prices is actually reasonable. Also, if you want more protein the additional charge is only $3, which is much cheaper than other places. I've seen them go as high as $6 for extra protein, which is silly because they're not giving you enough to begin with based on their prices that you're already paying for. So, even though I loved my salmon, I didn't have to get extra because what the bowl had was perfectly enough. For the first time in a poke place I felt that I wasn't being ripped off and that felt really nice. The food (Bowl with Salmon/Kale/Rice) was fresh, tasty, flavour full and creative. I loved their outdoor seating area right in the heart of beautiful Yaletown and the service was good. It was a nice, light, healthy and tasty lunch...exactly what I was looking for! I had a cruise scheduled to leave out of Port nearby and needed to grab lunch before I board the ship and ended up here. I didn't enjoy it at all. Tried Grilled Salmon special. Salmon tasted fishy and the sauce they used to drizzle (maybe Garlic Ginger if I remember right?!) didn't go well with the bowl. I ended up throw away majority of it. A poke bowl without the poke! But seriously, the fish is almost non-existent in the bed of kale they pack into this bowl. Why am I paying $14 for leaves? I've had poke in this city before and Poke Guy actually has nice big fat chunks of fish for the same price and they offer much more than what the bowls at Hula offer. I was wildly disappointed in this meal. We did the BOGO on Uber Eats but couldn't imagine paying full price for this. We got the Cali bowl and the miso ginger dressing was strong and overdressed the bowl so you couldn't taste the fish at all. Each peanut size piece of fish was coated in kale and sesame seeds so it got easily lost. The kelp noodles were probably my fave part of the bowl that added a crunch to it. Avoid this place if you want tasty poke that's worth the price. read more

I tried Hula Poké for dinner last night and I really like it! They're doing something a little different from other poké shops in town in that they don't have an option to build your own bowl, but have a set menu for toppings/dressing that still allows you to choose the protein and base. I think their menu choices are really interesting and each sounds unique. At lots of poké shops, their set bowls often sound very similar to me so it's hard to figure out which one I actually want, but that was not the case here! I've never had genuine Hawaiian poké so I'm not really knowledgeable on what it should be like, but their ingredients seem to skew more in that direction instead of the Japanese influence that dominates Vancouver poké. I got the Bahamian poké with tofu and a kelp noodle base. I thought the coconut sauce and roasted coconut were so delicious. I really enjoyed the kind of crunchy texture of the kelp noodles and thought they went super well with this bowl. Although I thought they gave me a decent portion of tofu, the bowl was very heavy on the kale. I was happy with this, but if you want the protein to be the focus you'll probably want to order extra. Ingredients were very fresh. I had their Pineapple Colada to drink. I ordered this on impulse after I saw the sign advertising it. I had expected more coconut, but pineapple was very much the dominant flavour. It was a good smoothie and they do use real fruit, maybe a little too thick since it was hard to slurp up the icy bits at the end. Just not really my thing but I should've known better when I ordered; if you're a pineapple person, you would probably really like this. The bowls aren't huge but they're a good size for a lighter meal. I was pretty full combining the poké bowl with the colada. I think that the prices are reasonable. The shop has some seating inside but it's pretty small and it looks like they do a bigger grab and go business. They had only had one person working in the front of the house, and while they were super friendly and patient with everyone, they definitely had too much work to do trying to both take orders and make all the food alone. I was the first in a string of customers that came in so I ended up having to wait a bit for my food to get started while the staff member just took orders. I think they did a great job, they just could've used some help! read more

Went here as there's not many poke places close by to Yaletown. Although their selection is static, I was actually pleasantly surprised at this location. I've been to their other locations before and this one is by far their best hula location. I had ordered the Koko with salmon, coconut rice mixed with kelp noodles. The coconut rice is actually really addicting. I only wish the offered the option of brown rice too. I would defiantly go here again. As their salads poke was amazing at this specific location. They also have vegetarian and vegan options here too. When it warms up more I want to try their Cocowhip (vegan soft serve). read more

I would like to thank the staff of this restaurant for helping me today. I am a senior who tripped up and fell in front of their Yaletown location. Two young ladies immediately rushed out to help me get to my feet, Ushered me into their restaurant, sat me down, asked if I wanted an ambulance (no thanks), should they call somebody (no thanks), washed my wounds, (scrapes on my knee and one hand), bandaged me up and sent me on my way. I wouldn't recommend it just for that fact that they're very skimpy on the protein. I ordered a Bahamian (Tropical) bowl with wild sockeye salmon and no rice, and they gave me a bowl of kale with 3 or 4 tiny and hard to see and taste pieces of salmon. I paid $16.17 after taxes and tip for a bowl of kale with some tropical sauce. It seems like a popular place since it's in a nice location but you just don't get what you pay for. read more
