The restaurant provides quick service, and even though it's small, they make efficient use of space, so I've never encountered a scenario where there isn't enough seating. Super tiny portion. We are talking 1 ice cream scoop of chopped salmon and in that was mixed with chopped onions. Brown rice was sooooo undercooked it was raw. There's Asian cooked (fuzzy rice cookers) and Caucasian cooked (pot and water on stove). This was way worse. It was just raw. At least with pot and water on stove it was cooked if not loose and not very tacky. But this. Was on par with quinoa in texture the rice was raw, crumbly, hard and because of that unable to absorb any flavours. The fish was okay. But I definitely preferred the other place I tried last day. Steve's poke bar (my only complaint there was we cannot indicate sauce on the side and opted for sesame oil only and it ended up they forgot to put or put so little it did not taste of it) but their fish was way better. The bowl didn't go. The flavours. They don't go. They don't flow. They don't feel refreshing to eat a light meal. And the crab meat was slightly WARMER than everything else. (Even the rice) (maybe just a preference? I like my shredded crab meat cold) I definitely did not want the jalapeños but on door dash no way to indicate you don't want it. And I did not like the amount of sauce they put. The sauce was nice. Just wish it was on the side. In a container. And I can mix it in myself. Overall. Value wise? I got mine at free dash pass 1 year compliment of amazon, so no fees, and I got 50% off any order over $15 so this bowl was $20 I paid $10. $11 with tax If I had paid $20 I'd be pretty upset. Especially with the raw rice. But for $10 okey fine . I visited here back in late August and wanted Poke so bad, so I really had to go t Westcoast Poke. WP was a pleasant surprise for me since it's the only place with daily specials. I love salmon sashimi so much to see Cascade for Monday's special. Not only I had this for medium for $11.95, it came with free Miso soup using Yelp check in. This place was busy during lunch, but waiting wasn't long. Price and portion was pretty good. Food was fresh and delicious packed with flavours. I was quite shocked with my order. I have had Poke bowls delivered many times from various places around Vancouver and this one was extremely disappointing. I ordered a Cascade Poke Bowl with no crab salad and replaced the rice with spring Mix. The portion is what I would considered a side dish to a meal or a snack bowl. Salmon looked like maybe two spoonfuls with onions in it. The fish was mediocre and did not taste as good as some of the other places in town that offer similar options at the same price range. For $15 before tax price, what was given was quite dissatisfying. I contacted the location to check if maybe they were low on supplies. Person that responded my call tried to explain that the portion looked small because of the spring mix being pressed down by the weight of the salmon. Apparently I am not the first one to say something and they are not willing to come up with a solution, so i would discourage anyone from ordering food here for now. Thanks to Westcoast Poke for an instagram giveaway, I was able to try two of their signature bowls along with two of their signature drinks. Asking for the most popular, I went with the Pacific and the Coast bowl. Both were different in their own way with Pacific being a bit lighter and the Coast being spicy but equally delicious. They do not skimp on the portion sizes either, as the proteins AND toppings were more than enough for the bed of rice underneath. The service was also really efficient and kind, letting me swap out one of the toppings and also giving me a few minutes to take some pictures before putting lidding them. I liked the Coast more because I am a salmon girl and spicy is my jam, but you can't go wrong with either of these bowls! They have daily specials right now so its a great time to visit! read more

For the past year, my friends and I order from this place on our weekly movie nights. For months (maybe 4) their ordering system was "broken" as in it didn't let you add all the toppings it used to let you add. So I gave it 4 stars. But it's now fixed!!! The good deal about this place is the options and the number of really good toppings you can add (e.g., kimchi Cucumber, maple soy, miso ginger, gochukaru garlic, fresh mango...). You can chose Salad, or rice, or both as a base. I recommend getting a small build your own box, then add the avocado for $1, and add an extra topping for $1-2. That way you get the equivalent of a medium box, but with more protein than carbs! It's a good filling portion too. read more

Poke is for sure something I never get tired of eating! I love the variety and that's exactly what westcoast poke offers! My favorite protein to pick here is the salmon and prawns! The prawns were not the tiny little shrimp but actually nice chopped pieces of fresh plump prawns! Service is quick and friendly as usual. An improvement from last time for sure. Good quality poke place but it's quite pricey. $22 for a 'large' that was more like a small sized bowl is a bit of a stretch. It was basically the size of my hand. The rice is not sushi rice unlike other places but regular rice. If it is that expensive I would expect sushi rice. Decent amount of toppings but not enough sauce so it got pretty dry after a few bites. I like how they have pea shoots as an option which is super rare at poke places. The chicken was tender and the salmon was good quality (I added $2 for sockeye). I ordered miso ginger soy sauce and gochujang aioli but I seem to have got only the aioli, though that by itself was tasty. Westcoast is just down the street from my office, so it was only a matter of time before I ordered lunch there. Fast track three months later, poke has become one of my top 5 fav foods, and I've gone on to partake of nearly every other poke place in the city. I'm even noticing it for sale in some grocery stores! The catch? No one does it quite as well as Westcoast. The fresh warm rice, the varied selection of ingredients and toppings - no one's doing it as well. So I stopped eating at the other poke places and pretty much just come here. My favourite is any of the salmon dishes; the tuna dishes are really good too. Each day there is a $10 special of a different signature dish which is amazing if you love variety. On Sundays you can pick from any of the main signatures for $10! One of the best deals in Vancouver for something that is delicious, healthy, quick, and difficult to make at home. When you find a consistently solid lunch place close to your office, it's an absolute delight to visit and enjoy frequently! My go-to order is the Coast. The Atlantic salmon goes great with the crab salad that's included. Most times I order the regular size, but I will admit that on a few occasions I've ordered the large size for when I skip breakfast. They have a website where I can order ahead so it's ready when I arrive. They also recently started offering sodas (my bad habit) so that helps save me a trip to the supermarket down the block. read more

Came with a friend for Friday lunch (just after 12) -- liked the storefront, the clean interior, the semi-busyness (with seats readily available but not eerily empty). Got a Regular with half brown rice half greens, albacore tuna, and pretty much all the sides & toppings that didn't cost extra. Was happy with the portions of things given (including the fish, believe it or not), and taste was pretty decent as well -- basically no complaints. Swung by this place after work today. The space has a very hipster vibe to it, with minimalistic furniture, high ceilings, and hanging lights. The bar was a tiny counter at the back of store - I'm assuming this must make it a little difficult to serve many people quickly when it gets crowded. We each ordered a Regular size Poké bowl with salmon, and chose to build our own bowls from a variety of different bases, mixers, toppings & sauces. Checking in on Yelp also gave us a free cup of Miso soup each. The protein portion for the Regular size bowl was a little small. The 3oz of protein you're getting probably varies quite a bit on who's scooping, since it wasn't actually weighed out or anything. The food looked and tasted pretty fresh. There was a decent variety of bases, toppings etc to choose from. Quite a handful of the options cost a few extra dollars here and there. The miso soup didn't taste like the standard Japanese miso soup. It was more oily, but also stronger in flavour. Overall, this place is alright for a quick and simple Poké fix. So I have not gone to Westcoast Poke for a year and I had a chance to visit last week. But was quite sad to discover that their quality of food tanked quite a bit. The portion was a lot smaller and the "forbidden black" rice which I paid an extra for was pretty horrible. It was old, hard and tough to chew. I cook and eat forbidden black rice myself at home so I know what it tastes like when you cook it right. Seems like there is constantly new poke places opening up here so decided to give this spot a try... It got good reviews and near to where we were so why not. It had a steady stream of people coming in too. Besides a few set bowl combos and build your own bowl option, they have a fresh sheet that appears to rotate per day... From base to protein options... That was a unique touch. I was curious so had the spicy garlic ahi negitori and that was just ok and the ahi used for that was pretty stringy. It wasn't worth an extra $3. When building the bowl, I found it odd that the server seemed to not know what components went into the bowl and had to consistently ask his coworker or look at the wall to know .. Lol... So service ended up being pretty slow... And led to a line up in ordering behind us. And portion scoop sizes were pretty small as well so it ended up not being a very full bowl. It is a nice touch to have a free drink or soup with a yelp check in, but when we went they were out of horchata (kinda strange at a poke place?) and one of their soups... I got the boysenberry soursop drink - I thought he was giving me a taste but he ended up pouring me a whole cup... and it was not very good... but it was at least free. They also had four other sauces you could add if you wanted an extra kick. I liked the pineapple mango habanero one... The space is clean and had one long communal table to sit in. What I had: Brown rice as base Salmon & tuna as protein. Jalapeño, sweet onion, chilli flakes, cucumber kimchi, & red onion as mix. Seaweed salad, crab salad, mango, masago, radish and sesame seeds as toppings. They make some of their own sauces which are great too. There is one long table that can fit about 12 ppl. The place is bright and modern. For an extra cost, you can get ahi tuna, sockeye salmon and avocado. I'd definitely come back. read more

I came here to buy lunch waiting for 25 mins to place an order. There was a few servers. One was a cashier to collect money. One took orders starting with getting the fish and other ingredients. One picked up other ingredients and mixed them all up. A fourth one was helping out. It took a while that customers ordered the food one by one. It was extremely slow and not efficient at all. Probably the kitchen or food counter is smaller that all servers squeezed in together and got food for customers at the same time. It was tough for them as well. Anyhow, I was not enjoying the waiting part of this eating experience at all. Wasted 25 mins of my lunch hour.... not impressive... I ordered a regular poke with tuna (pacific on the menu). Regular portion had three scoops of meat or fish. It was good. I got to choose the base (e.g. salad, rice, brown rice and etc.). I ordered brown rice. The dish was supposed to have certain ingredients, but I forgot which ingredient they were running out. I had to ask for green seaweeds to replace them. So sad. It was the busy hours that the restaurant would not have enough ingredients on hand in order to prepare for the customers. Anyway, I mixed all the ingredients in the bowl before eating. I ate the whole bowl as I was very hungry after the long wait. I liked the dish because of the sauces. I had a better poke in downtown. I was super excited to try them. I had the large (5 scoops of salmon) which came up to $15.45. Ingredients were fresh and it was a great poke bowl. I was however disappointed with the portion size. I actually asked if they mistakenly gave me a regular but they confirmed that it was a large. Ahimi! Every vegan and vegetarian should check out Westcoast Poke at least once. They are the only poke store in the lower mainland to carry ahimi, a delicious substitution for tuna. Aside from being plant based and delicious, it is also sustainable and virtually indistinguishable from tuna after it's tossed up in your choice of sauce (except y'know... No tendons and stingy bits). Expect what one would typically expect from a poke store, except this one has a) free miso soup and b) rotating chef's specials. I came here for the first time with my girlfriends and then I honestly could not wait and had to come the next day again with my boyfriend! There are pre-determined poke bowls like the classic Aloha and Cascade but I decided to Build My Own Bowl. I chose a Base of brown rice and salmon as my protein (regular 3 scoops $12.50). I love how you can choose as many Mix-ins as you like - and don't be afraid, I chose scallions, cilantro, sweet onion, cucumber kimchi (omg a MUST) and edamame. Then the staff member mixed it all up with my salmon sashimi and tossed it in a sweet sauce. As for toppings I chose radish, crab salad, seaweed salad, mangoes and extra pea shoots. After a generous drizzle of Miso Ginger Soy sauce, it was finished with masago and taro sticks. I was a little worried that my mis-mash of ingredients would be weird but since I got to choose everything I liked, it was an ultimate bowl of deliciousness that was customized to my taste! Every bite was yum after yum! All of the ingredients were really fresh and it was more than filling! The free Miso Soup that came with my Yelp Check-in (merci beacoup Yelp!) had a drizzle of black garlic sauce which added a special taste to the regular miso soup. I've been meaning to try the poke places near Cambie, finally made it to West coast poke. It's mainly build-your-own bowl kind of poke. I choose a regular size albacore tuna and salmon mix, and a green salad and brown rice base. I'm happy that they promote combinations. The variety of toppings and mix ins are great! The sauces are awesome too. I liked that they didn't have a limit on the toppings/mix ins. However, the service was a tad slow and not as efficient. I felt pressured by the line up that accumulated soon after we ordered. I also wish they were friendlier. Would definitely come back when I'm craving poke. Quality of the ingredients was decent, nothing special on any of the marinated toppings. Decent price for the amounts of mix ins you want, so don't be shy. Portions are decent, but they could definitely be larger (the portions at the aforementioned places are noticeably larger.) I find them to be more stingy with their proteins too. I've been too lazy to cook lately, so I ordered some poke for dinner last night through DoorDash. I selected the 'Build Your Own Bowl' option, and got a 'regular' bowl (3 scoops of protein) with white rice. I got ahi tuna, albacore tuna, and salmon, went crazy with the mix-ins and toppings, and chose 3 sauces: wasabi aioli, miso ginger soy, and spicy yuzu sriracha aioli. The salmon was a little fishy, but the rest of the proteins were fine. Of the mix-ins and toppings, my favourites were the crab salad, seaweed salad, and fried onion. I can't say much about the sauces because the flavour of the spicy yuzu sriracha aioli basically overpowered the other sauces, but it was tasty. Overall, this is a decent Vancouver poke shop, but unfortunately, I still haven't found anything that's comparable to what I had in Hawaii. read more

It was apparently for more "scoops" of protein, but I got maybe 5 cubes of ahi tuna (that cost an extra $3) at best. It's got one long table so beware during peak times if you want a seat. I like that you can choose white, brown or a daily special rice as your base. Prices range from snack, reg and large. I think the large is the best deal at $15 for 5 scoops. We Stopped by today for lunch and once again this place was great! I had the pacific bowl with white rice and my wife had the sockeye on brown. It's always fresh, full of flavour and fills you up but it's not too heavy. I always feel great after eating here. So many things in the bowl that I love especially the pineapple and ginger. Since it's the latest food trend since spam sushi I know I'm just going to live this place. And it's almost 5 stars! Oooooohh, why not the top notch mark since I gave a Burger King the crown? Well it was my mood then at BK and I was surprised considering I never give them anything that favourable. But why only 4 stars? Ok it's because I'm being finicky. This place is terrific and it gets busy. They have awesome loyal customers too. The staff are young and hip ( cause I'm just an old farty tarty) they're polite. The menu is easy to follow and they have a wall for specials of the day. It is a bit hard to communicate between the safety glass that displays the food items. Especially if you're shorter than the glass wall and end up speaking into it rather than over. So you have to stand back a bit and speak up. Today's lunch was with my favourite JFC (Japanese Food Critique) who has been on the Poke hunt as well. She opened for her own pick and choose items and somehow got confused. I kept telling her to look up at the menu items on the list on the back wall instead of trying to figure what was in the containers and bottles. Once she figured it out she bumbled her way through to her final concocted bowl. I did my Yelp check in and got a free miso soup which was a perfect side for my meal called the Cascade bowl. The Cascade had salmon which I don't know why I ordered it because I'm not a salmon fan of late. Note: for all my Poke dishes I eat in choose the salad/greens mix instead of carbs. The Cascade I think was noted as Gluten Free for those of you who are conscious about that. I did end up giving half my salmon bits to JFC to eat because I'm not really a salmon person. The rest of the dish I did devour. 4.5 for this dish. As for JFC, she's on the hunt for a certain taste which she hasn't found it yet. So our hunt is still on. If I didn't have to travel so far to get here, I'd be here more often. For a vegan option I think it's a bit pricey but for the protein it's about average. They have a recycling/garbage selection in which is nice. The decor is simple and very warm and bright and the place looks very clean and "instagramy". But for me it seemed to just miss one bit of element. Maybe I'm being finicky. Guess I'm like a cat that way. But yes if you haven't tried this food before. Yummy! I love Poké and i'm glad it's starting to become a trend in Vancouver. I got the pacific special (which includes albacore tuna, shoyu, cucumber, edamame, scallion, cilantro, crab, pineapple, radish, and a gochu garlic aioli) in the snack size, which was MORE than enough and quite delicious. I often find the problem with Poké is that the rice gets too soggy from the sauce / veggies that are included in the bowl, but the rice stayed perfectly bouncy the whole time. Pineapple was also very fresh and the combination of all of the ingredients was just lovely. The feel of the place was cute and casual. I also tried the house Kombucha, which was very good.
