    Bacon beef stroganoff pie

I had the bacon beef stroganoff pie. It was fantastic. The gentleman was very nice and helpful. I was visiting from the USA. It was one of my favorite meals.

Perfect spot to grab a hearty meal on the go. They have many varieties of delicious pies and they are reasonably priced. I should really try and pop in more often, quick and easy for when you are on the go.

The food is well worth the price!! I can easily say it was the best meat pie I have ever eaten :)

I've meant to try here since they opened. The odd thing is, the day that I finally did get there was because I originally wanted to pick up a Vandal donut and the MacDonald bridge was closed that day, so instead of driving to Vandal on Gottigen, I said I'd just get one at Humble Pie. I arrived just after 10am on a Saturday and discovered that their Vandal counter doesn't open until 11. This wasn't a disappointment in the end. The smell of the pies won me over. Staff were friendly with greeting me immediately, a couple of customers ahead in line. I asked what their most popular items were and the woman said the steak & cheese as well as the chicken cranberry brie were both well liked. I decided to go with the chicken. They were a bit smaller than I'd pictured, although I knew they weren't full sized pies, and larger than my defintion of a tart. Regardless, they make a perfect lunch. I am more of a 'eat in' restaurant goer, vs a takeout person. But I got this home and ate it within half an hour, enjoying every bite. Nice flaky crust, good comfort food/homemade feel to it. I see me becoming a regular customer of here in the colder months when I generally prefer warm baked goods. $10 per pie isn't cheap but nor do I mind, as it's more satisfying than spending that on a fast food meal any day.

Alas, here, I thought I was stuck with the crap at the Superstore or Sobeys. It got to the point where I started researching how to pickle myself. Then I realized, being able to make a pickle and make a good pickle are universally different. I tried to make my own wine when I was 19 and I ended up spending 3 months to make some of the most heinous vinegar known to the human race. No hyperbole, it wasn't just disgusting, it was wrong. So a friend recommended that I take some valium, endure the hell that is the Farmer's Market (I wear a watch that tells me my heart rate and it is usually at about 60-70 but in there, it can get up to about 130. So many great vendors, so many inconsiderate idiots who stand in the middle of the 19cm lanes, so many couples holding hands, walking under 1km per hour, blocking anyone who actually has a life from getting their stuff, so many parents that don't know how to parent, subsequently leaving their children to run free like a chicken dropped in Time Square, etc. I did it, I bought a few bottles and these are some serious pickles. Now, I went with the Dill 'kicker' Pickles and what I got were crunchy, super dilly, fresh pickles that certainly aren't afraid of garlic. They are exactly what I want in a pickle. In my opinion, these pickles might not be for everyone, but they have lots of other kinds, the guy who works there is nice and next time, barring an unexpected death, I will be giving the pickled beets a shot. They have samples and the price is 6 dollars for a smallish sized bottle but they are worth the price and like fine wine, these are not lamerville brand named pickles, these are for pickle connoisseurs. I could only eat a couple. They are not for children. They are for the rad only. Thank you Naked Pickle, you should sell your stuff online so that I don't have to be medicated to get my pickle on but props none the less.

Reservation is easy and there's still plenty of spots for Friday lunch with same day booking. The vibe here is relaxing and quiet with the restaurant entrance hidden inside a hotel. Service is good too. The chef has demonstrated quite solid cooking skil and my suggestion is to go with the fancier dish here where the chef clearly pays more attention to, compared to dishes like fish and chips. I tried a classic cocktail with gin as the base. It turned out to be very refreshing. For food, Caesar salad was delicious. Pan fried cod fillet was cooked perfectly, very tender and went well with the roots vegetables. It was my favorite dish here. Lobster pasta was also delicious. Fish and chips were average, definitely not comparable to some of the food truck places. Fries were dry and tasted bitter. Overall, this is a good restaurant with great food quality, good service and nice environment. I would consider revisiting if I'm in Halifax again.

We've had a trip planned to golf Cabot for the last few years. The texts and emails were flying delays, cancelled trips and in general , I never thought it would happen. Surprisingly, Halifax was a quick little flight from Toronto and am I ever glad we did it. First off, we talked about getting lobster on the side of the road at shacks etc, blah blah blah but as soon as we landed we headed to meet a friend who said we must try this lobster croissant sandwich at The Drift. OMG OMG OMG ! Could be one of the best sandwiches I've ever tasted but you know what was even better, the Chablis, no, the lobster pasta, no... It was the lobster fritters. They were insane ! The fritters are a bit like a conch if you've ever had that in the BVIs but they are battered so perfectly with a zesty hint of like that is so perfect, it's too hard to describe. Over the top crispy timbit deliciousness with lobster. The drift is a MAJOR win, it's along the water in Halifaxs best hotel the Muir and it's just perfect. Our trip was filled with Oysters and I have to say, each place had slightly different variations but I will NEVER say I had a better Oyster than in Halifax. If you hear me say it, just call me out because we had at least 4 Oysters each at around 6 places and they were all better than anywhere I've ever eaten in the world, almost to the point where I didn't need the sides (almost). I am so glad I visited Halifax, oh and by the way, the golf at Cabot was insane ! INSANE ! Was it better than Cabot St Lucia ? Nope, but I give Cabot St Lucia a 9.8 and I give Cabot Cape Breton a 9.6. STOP right there ! I had the crab shack , I had the crab shack and oh my gosh was it good. Just outside Cabot is the best little shack with the freshest little sandwiches on fluffy buns. Check it out right here- get the mainlander sandwich and the crab bretoner. The mainlander is warm lobster spiced up on the bun, heaven ! And the crab bretoner is chilled crab, mix up perfectly with aioli, green on and a few other things. If you're near Inverness you better stop there. Ok ok ok , I'm writing all of this as I go but on the Sunday we end up at the 5 fishermen. Order the lobster, the carbonara lobster , the chowder and Oysters at every single place you go in Halifax and thank me later. I wasn't expecting to love the food this much, wow ! If you're there on a Sunday, hit Durty Nellys. In my Opinion it's the best pub in the world- yep ! See ya next week :)

They have expanded the ready made section and I often grabbed something for the drive home to snack on. I didnt care for everything I tried but would not return something simply because it wasnt to my liking. Last week I purchased some hot pepperoni for the drive home. Ive been eating pepperoni since I was a kid. I like hot. I do not like mild or honey garlic. I was disappointed as it turned out to be mild. I checked the label but it was marked hot. So this week when I went in I grabbed my items as well as a package of pepperoni around the same price. I brought my receipt and the pepperoni purchased earlier. I have never returned anything to Daves in my life and actually just wanted an exchange. After paying for my other items and waiting for a manager I was denied an exchange and told it wasnt their fault just because I did not find it hot enough. I have had to return things to Giant Tiger, Costco, Sobeys and superstore. I have always been treated well and never given a hassle. This is not the customer service I expected. I was embarrassed and made to feel like I didnt know what I was talking about and I was wasting busy peoples time. They have lost a customer in me and 3 family members as well.
