But these pies are so worth the stop. We landed with the Chicken Cranberry & Brie- A-freaking-mazing! So good and fresh and warm when we arrived. We ate it right out front and everyone agreed the pastry and filling was perfect! They also sell mini pies, or half pies for half the price if you don't want such a big portion. Easy to find via Google maps. Street parking available. Not a busy street. No where really to dine-in. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Chicken brie cranberry was super moist, pie crust was super flakey and tasty. Would have loved a fruit pie with the same crust! read more

Humble Pie have just started a collaboration with Propeller Brewing at their Bedford prop shop and will be running there Wed-Sat for at least all of March '24. Visited today on their first day of operation and I am a fan. I went for the steak and cheese (I'll be working down their menu from hereonin) and it was just perfect. Soft, buttery pastry, very generous and flavourful filling and just the right temperature. But watch out! A full sized pie won't quite top you up and the temptation to go for another is almost impossible to resist. Today I did, but who knows? Definitely give these guys a spin, I can't imagine you won't get full satisfaction. If you love your Propeller beers/cider, this is the ideal addition and I really hope the partnership continues. read more

Delicious food. Pies are awesome. For supper I used to like getting 2 pies. Great to munch on while watching tv on a weekend. Owner as there one time talking about the flavours and how he created them. Accidently fat shamed when he asked which flavour was mine. Was too embarrassed to say both. Not at all what I expected - it was recommended by a couple of people. By one person multiple times. But I don't remember him telling me it's like a very small burger joint. FOOD: your choice of pies that they wrap up in a way you can eat like a burger. When we got there, there weren't many in the stand, that's a good sign. And it was a 20 minute or so wait if we wanted to wait for other choices. We were fine with what was left. It's not the meat pies I'm used to but it was tasty. I don't have a craving to go there again soon BUT I know if others were going, I would definitely tag along and try another pie. My hubby LOVED it and said yum! about 17 times when eating his one pie. And my friend who recommended this place definitely loved it - he told me about it every time I saw him. So it depends on your taste. But it's definitely a worthy experience to go. Place: Small. We waited for a seat but when 5 others came in behind us we decided to take ours to go and give the seats to them. The pies are perfect to take home. And they were still warm when we got home 15 mins later. You can have a window seat on a stool and people watch! SERVICE: friendly. They try to serve you fast which is great. So I've known the owner, Mike, since before he opened this place. He is from New Zealand and these pies started out as his lunch when we were working traffic control. Quickly turned into everyone in the truck requesting pies for their lunch as well. The last time we worked together there was actually a coworker taking orders and making a list. Long story short: do yourself a favor and try a pie. They have a vegetarian option for those of us who are not meat lovers. But let me tell you - every choice is a good one at this place. Drinks include coffee, a local brand of soda, some juice. Fully equipped with cash, credit, or debit. Cozy, airy space with ample seating and a fireplace. Hint: good place to bring a date. read more

I've been a fan of Humble Pie for years now, though I haven't actually been to their store on King Street. I used to frequent their Seaport Market stall, and then I jumped on the opportunity to get their delicious pies when they came across the harbour for Open City this year...but last weekend I finally went and picked up pies in person. It was worth it. The pie selection is even more numerous now than it was when they were at the Seaport Market - donair pie anyone?? - and their seating area is nice and open. We took our pies to go ("for dinner" we said naively...nope, we at them as soon as we got home). Service is polite, friendly and super fast. Their cranberry Brie chicken pie is quite possibly one of the most delicious things I've EVER eaten. They have a few veg options and lots of tasty meat ones, I've had the steak and cheese, chicken cranberry Brie, and buffalo chicken and all of them were life changing. They're designed to be able to eat them like a cheeseburger, so they're great to take on the go. Ultra friendly staff, $10ish per pie. Super filling. You will not be sorry you tried them! In fact, yes, I am a fan! When I heard this place was opening in downtown Dartmouth which, oh, is where I happen to live, I was quite excited. But then I read that they would focus on meat pies. Oh. As a vegetarian, that's far less appealing. It wasn't until a friend posted an Instagram of their spinach/feta "pie" (more of a roll) that I got excited again. I soon tried it and I was not disappointed. Warm and flaky but still moist and tasty. I've been back a few times - both their storefront and their food stand at the Alderney market. When I get one, I do but it's a fairly popular item. I do recommend swinging by their storefront (Monday to Friday only) because then you can also pick up a Poppe Shoppe beverage which, for me, paired very well with the spinach/feta "pie." I stopped in here because of the amazing smell as I walked by. I had no idea what to expect but the sign outside promised some amazing fillings that definitely piqued my interest. Inside we were greeted warmly and when we said we had no idea what we were in for, we were given an energetic walk through of all the pies in stock and a little history of the bakery. I got the bacon and egg pie, which weighed too much for the size of and I ended up only being able to eat half of (thank god for hungry fiances) My fiance got the most popular pie - steak and cheese. They were reasonable priced for the size and quality at $7 a pie. I had a bite of his pie and it was easy to see why it was so popular. The steak is perfectly seasoned and the cheese delightfully oozy. (that's a real word right?) We were encouraged to come back and tell them what we thought and we will definitely be returning. As my fiance said "I would leave the house after work just to come here." As someone who is so exhausted after a long day - this is high praise. We can't wait to go back and try some other fillings. read more

I've meant to try here since they opened. The odd thing is, the day that I finally did get there was because I originally wanted to pick up a Vandal donut and the MacDonald bridge was closed that day, so instead of driving to Vandal on Gottigen, I said I'd just get one at Humble Pie. I arrived just after 10am on a Saturday and discovered that their Vandal counter doesn't open until 11. This wasn't a disappointment in the end. The smell of the pies won me over. Staff were friendly with greeting me immediately, a couple of customers ahead in line. I asked what their most popular items were and the woman said the steak & cheese as well as the chicken cranberry brie were both well liked. I decided to go with the chicken. They were a bit smaller than I'd pictured, although I knew they weren't full sized pies, and larger than my defintion of a tart. Regardless, they make a perfect lunch. I am more of a 'eat in' restaurant goer, vs a takeout person. But I got this home and ate it within half an hour, enjoying every bite. Nice flaky crust, good comfort food/homemade feel to it. I see me becoming a regular customer of here in the colder months when I generally prefer warm baked goods. $10 per pie isn't cheap but nor do I mind, as it's more satisfying than spending that on a fast food meal any day. read more

I've been going here for years now, I've always received a hot, buttery and gorgeous pie!! I've tried almost all of them now and each are divine in their own way but the chicken, Brie and cranberry pie is to die for. The customer service here is amazing, I'm pretty sure a couple from New Zealand owns the place because they're always there and they are so passionate about their pies and they are so warm and welcoming! It's also only $10 for a huge pie which is sometimes too much to eat at once even if you're starving! Probably my favourite food place during my visit! I got a butter chicken pie and it was absolutely delicious. It had a slight kick, though I do wish it was spicier and had much more heat. The amount of filling and meat in the pie is generous and I never felt like they skimped on the ingredients. The space itself is quite small with only a few seats, so it's definitely an order for take-out type of place. Overall, you definitely get what you paid for and though the pie itself is small (more snack-sized than something for a full meal), the pie was so tasty that I wish I got two instead of just one. read more

I have be waiting for 4 years for a pie to be made in Halifax as good as a 'Humble Pie'! After spending a year abroad in Australia and New Zealand, I came home to find the lack of pies in the city a huge disappointment. The pies that were here, were nothing like a New Zealand pie.. It's all in the crust and the gooey filling....and Humble Pie has got it right! I had my first taste of Humble Pie while walking through the Alderney Market. I could smell pulled pork... and I am addicted to it. They were just closing up shop for the day but everything still looked so fresh. Loved the pulled pork pie. Ready to walk and eat with no fork required. I'm told I can be picky at times, and wasn't a fan of the steak and cheese (don't kill me) even though everyone else seems to love it. I'll be trying others, and more pulled pork for sure. read more
