One wouldn't even give me a quote without knowing how much I could spend. Cali siding and windows was completely different. Ivan came out to look at our siding. He listened when we explained what we wanted to repair, respectfully made recommendations, walked around the entire house to make sure all repair spots were noted. Their quote was reasonable and included siding and paint. Ivan answered all my questions regarding roof tiles and what would happen if the damage extended beyond the siding. Started the job as per our agreement. Showed up everyday as planned. Used good materials. The payment schedule was reasonable and provided me with a more secure feeling because the payments did not get ahead of the completed work. They did not give me a bad time when I told them that the steps and pavers were incorrectly installed. The not so good: Very difficult to communicate with the workers because English is their second language. Rather than having a concrete truck deliver concrete with the correct water to cement mix they mixed all the foundation concrete in a five gallon bucket with initially way too much water. One footing alone required more than thirty 50 lb bags of concrete. I had to force them to mix it correctly, because a wet mix is much weaker than a correct dry mix. They had to redo the steps because they installed them incorrectly as well as the pavers. Only doing so after I discovered the problem. They should have realized the problem without my input. I am a retired contractor and felt that I had to do way too much supervision or else the end result was not going to be good. The project ended up OK but not without a whole lot of my time, input, supervision and a lot of stress. These guys are just starting out and I understand that a new company will have to work out the bugs. If I had to do it again I would have gladly paid more money for a more competent and established company.

Eugene was patient and thoughtful as we discussed various options to maintain and protect the waterproof membrane and strengthen the structural integrity of our expansive decks on a hillside. He was mindful of our budget and, as a general contractor, identified and repaired another area in our crawlspace. He came up with creative solutions, and he has a great sense of design and style. We ended up replacing our upper deck with Trex composite boards. On the lower deck, his crew replaced most of the redwood boards and repainted the deck, even the wooden joists of the upper deck, for both wood preservation and aesthetic purposes. His crew paid attention to details. He also did the stone facing on our portico. Eugene went above and beyond. He's honest, experienced, and pleasant to work with. Maxton Builders had recently built my parent's house in East Sacramento from the ground up, so I was familiar with their work. We held off on our home remodel and instead opened a retail nursery in a recently-closed tire shop. I got bids from three contractors, including Maxton Builders. The tire shop was an absolute mess. It needed a huge cleanup, demolition of a large trailer, new windows, paint, wall repair, and construction of sheds, nursery benches, electrical work, and a cash wrap. I was on a limited startup budget, and am leasing the property, and Maxton Builders worked within my budget. For the commercial remodel, Maxton Builders' bid was competitive. Compared to the other contractors, what I liked most was Valentin's "can do" attitude. Once I accepted his bid, the work started right away. I recently reached out to them again for help with construction of four large garden center shade structure kits. We needed to be ready right when the freight company arrived, and Valentin sent two of his subs over right away to help unload the heavy steel structures, and came by to check on the job.
