As the project goes on we found more issue that needs to be taking care of, and Denis is always ready to fix them, both complex and small tasks. Instead of charging me for a new screen door, Steve suggested I purchase it online to save money, and he will install it. He provided the measurements. Have been dealing with a sticky front door for a few weeks due likely to foundation settling. Submitted a Yelp request at 10pm at night. Response came shortly after and an appointment was scheduled for between 12 noon and 2:00pm the next day using the Yelp messaging system. Super convenient! In the morning, I got a message that I would get a call 30 mins prior to someone showing up. Dennis called around 12-ish and said he'd be here in 15 mins which he was. Looked at the issue and decided he needed to take the entire door off and do some sanding. Result about an hour or so later was a perfectly working front door! Price quoted was similar to price paid. Dennis was easy to work with as well and we look forward to consulting the company for more work in the future! read more

I hired Humboldt (worked with Sviat) to fix a roof and balcony leak early this year. They were also to fix ceiling damage caused by the leaks. Sviat came out and did the roof & balcony repair, and said he'd return to repair the ceiling once we were sure the roof & balcony leaks were fixed (after next rains). He recommended we get the gutters cleaned, we agreed and scheduled that work with him too. By the time Sviat come out for the gutter work a week later, the balcony leak was back and further damaging the internal ceiling and bedroom carpeting (see photos). His men worked on the balcony leak again, but I dont think they know what they were doing. Svet spent 30 minutes on the gutters and said all was clean and unclogged now. He further guaranteed said that if the gutters were still overflowing he's come back and add an extra downspout at no cost. I paid him for all of the work at this point. With the next rain we saw that the gutters were still clogged. Sviat had not unclogged the downspouts as he'd said. The balcony also continued to lead and the ceiling damage got worse. I tried calling & texting him, but did not get a response. After some time Sviat responded that he was in New York for a few weeks and would get back to me upon returning, but never did. I called again from a different phone and reached him, he scheduled a time to come out, but was a no show. When I called he rescheduled but was a no show again, then he said he's sending his brother, but again no show. So very disappointing. Not only did he not complete the work he was hired for, he strung me along for a few months stating he'd come back to complete the work, while my house continued to be further damaged. Please be warned that this company is not reliable. They took my money and did NOTHING. I have never left a negative yelp review before, but felt it's important to inform other homeowners about this terrible company. read more

This business is a scam! Similar I found Humboldt Team on Yelp and saw the reviews are good (now I suspect the reviews are probably not real). Then someone contacted me and scheduled a time to come. Then a guy came. We had issues with the sink, and switch board and the air conditioning. In the online estimate, Humboldt said it could fix everything. But when the handyman came, he only screwed the switchboard tighTer. NOTHING ELSE and asked for $200. Wouldn't leave. read more

He was very short with me, I had to ask his name (Roman), and he said to text him the info and address, which I did. I sent three text messages, per Roman's annoyed request and no response. This is Joans Fiancé writing this review as I don't have my own account. First off, I thought Roman did a very nice job. He came off as knowledgeable and hard working. During the job, he would bring up potential things to think about for future repairs and let me know his reason for his actions. Overall, I believe he knows what he is doing and the rate I got per hour seemed quite reasonable. The issue I had was with their ability to properly estimate and come on time. I had an initial estimate of 3-4 hours to do a job, which is a number I had been quoted by others. The pricing was the ultimate decider on why I went with Humboldt team. To be fair most places give a range like 10-10:30 am which I hate, however I was just told 10 am on a Thursday, but Roman did not arrive until close to 10:30 am. Once he arrived he took a look and said the work looked closer to 4-5 hours. After 6 hours the work was not finished and Roman said he had another job to go to and he'd come back another day. I took a sick day to stay home and get this job done, only to have to then take more time later on. We scheduled another appointment for 2 hours Saturday and again Roman was slightly late, this time by only 10 minutes. Probably due to my complaining, but I think Roman wanted to wrap everything up in the two hours that we had decided on and I felt maybe things were rushed towards the end. Ultimately, the work was done well and I believe Roman to be a hard working and knowledgeable handyman for the Humboldt team, but the estimates were basically double what was talked about initially, which had the price be roughly what the other handyman were saying. That being said, there is no guarantee the others would have kept to their estimates either and the money was well earned. My suggestion is to be realistic and really analyze the job before giving the estimate. I'd much rather have a realistic estimate or even an over estimate to know roughly how much time and money to budget. read more

Terrible customer service- after doing the site survey on August 12, they quoted a price on the phone, I asked him to send me the quote, it was $700 over the phone estimate. Fine. I asked them to send the contract. Over the span of over a week I kept following up on the contract. They said they would send it the next day. Never sent it. I called multiple times, texted several times, messaged on Yelp multiple times. I finally got a hold of the owner today. He then backtracks and says that the person (Denis) is too busy and I should have realized that from their lack of response. He said that they cannot send the contract until 3 days before the task- I had agreed to wait over for a later work date September 15 due to their workload. They never said they can only provide a contract 3 days before- how am I suppose to get condo approval or secure a handyman this way? Instead, they had been saying multiple times that they would send it today or tomorrow (see photos) On top of this, despite Denis (who the owner says is a manager) saying that they will send me a complete list of things to buy and they will transport it to the site, the owner now says they will charge me $89 per hour for their staff to buy it for me. We are in need of replacing a over-the-oven microwave, on a kitchen with granite backsplash behind the oven. Initially we thought that's a simple task but both Sears, Home Depot, and Best Buy turned us away as it may require drilling or cutting the granite to gain space. Getting a bit desperate we start looking up on places like Yelp and Angie's List and after few rounds of Q&A we found Humboldt Team the most up front and with best response. He gave me a quick call to go over any details and let me know expectations. He gave me a call 15 minutes before arriving to let me know he was on his way. When he arrived he went right to work.
