Funeral homes can be so different I've learned, some charging for EVERY little thing, pay for having chairs at the viewing, or severely overcharging for the flowers on top of the casket. Adam Mason Funeral home did not do that. Scott Mason is the person that took care of the whole funeral was wonderful. I was able to text him at nearly midnight when I thought of a question. He answered immediately with a response. The correct response. The preparation of my loved one was also outstanding. He looked like he was sleeping, cleaned up perfectly and so at peace. A memory that will stay with me forever, not the one at the hospital. They also worked with us wanting to bring my loved ones pet. No problem. We were also allowed to leave some notes in the casket with him, an issue that other funeral homes had. I have to say there is nothing negative at all about this funeral home, it's staff, or location. Go with a funeral home that is local, doesn't have corporate offices, those are the ones where you become a number. When we ask about which location the service would be, we were told it was a private service and he couldn't divulge that information. What a moron- I knew it was a private service and I wasn't going to crash it as I live 18 hours away. However, the florists need to know where the flowers are to go and without him telling me which, it has turned into a debacle. The flowers did NOT arrive at the funeral. The 1-800 flower agency said the funeral home wouldn't receive the flowers. The funeral home said the florist didn't have the flowers we'd ordered. And after all the bologna, no one (not e 1-800 service, not the funeral jome, not the local florist) has called to let us know that the ball has been dropped. Why in the world the fella at the funeral home wouldn't even let us know what location the funeral would take place is beyond me. I was given the opportunity to help with the service which was a big deal to me as I too am a funeral director. Terry, the owner, went above and beyond what I am used to. He seemed to be instantly a part of the family- even drove the flowers to our house. I would use this funeral home again (assuming I lived in Akron). Instead of cremains at their Kent location where we started, I was told to go get them myself in Green, an hour and a half trip, or pay $100 to pick them up in Kent, and they had no intention of helping with any of that. Getting them in Green is a big problem because you have to make an appointment for only when it suits them, just between 9 and 3 which is bad enough for people who have a job but their availability to meet you is so limited it makes date and time choices way too restrictive.
