    Grilled octopus, lobster, mushroom empanadas

Excellent food and service - the wood-grilled steaks are just superb. Sit outside for the killer view of the Sea of Cortez, as well as the territorial views of SJDC. And don't miss the cocktails - each and every one is a charmer (the "A-maiz-ing" is a passion fruit/corn twist on a pina colada, the "More-ita" is a spicy marg, etc.). Not reinventing the wheel here, but nicely executed versions of classic drinks/dishes. Only knock would be the expense of the meal (the wine list is eyebrow-raising, especially for the imports, and the shareable rib-eye cap is about $200 USD). It's definitely more of a special occasion place, but hey, when you're on vacation, it's worth the splurge.

At Humo, we started with the grilled clams and empanadas. The clams were chopped and layered with a light dusting of crispy parmesan. We tried both the beef and mushroom empanadas which had a light flaky dough and ample filling. For our mains, we tried the ribeye and the grilled prawns. Upon bringing the steak, the wait stuff asked us to confirm the temperature of the steak was appropriate which is something I have never seen before. It was cooked perfectly medium rare with a beautiful sear. When we looked at the dessert menu, we saw cardamom ice cream but we opted to order a dessert that did not have this. Our lovely waiter brought us a tiny complimentary scoop and it was delightful!

I was on vacation and came to this restaurant for a friends birthday. While walking to the restaurant, the scenery was beautiful, and the restaurant had a nice ambiance. We were seated outside on the patio. The table was set nicely with a personalized menu for my friend's birthday at each seat. We were a large group and it seemed the servers were kind of getting confused because we were asked our drink orders by two different servers. I inquired about the red wine selection and was not given a menu. The server only told me two types, a Cabernet and something else, so I chose from the two. When the bill came at the end of the night, I noticed that I was charged $40 for the one glass of wine. They should do better with explaining and or show a menu of options with the prices. Each course was set out family style in the middle of the table. There was a small issue with a special accommodation due to a food allergy. The server brought out the wrong meal for my friend and they did not change the plate. Only replaced the silverware and removed the food from the plate. Aside from these mishaps, the food was good! And I would recommend this restaurant.

The Humo sourdough and the beef empanadas were delicious starters. The petit filet and salmon steak with the chimichurri sauce and grilled tomatoes were wonderful main dishes.

Could be the best restaurant I've ever been too. From the minute you walk in, you are transformed with the ambience. The staff is top notch and genuinely treat you like no other. We ordered the fish and chicken with grilled vegetables. The preparations were superb. Tender and mouth watering. My only suggestion would be that the waiter take the bill away from the table to be calculated. Other then that, you won't be disappointed.

Amazing dinner and exceptional service topped off with a terrific large wine list from all over the world. If you are in the area you should do yourself a favor and check out Humo.

I'm a foodie and a frequent Cabo luxury hotel traveler. My boyfriend and Ii enjoyed dinner here each night during staying our 4-night hotel stay. Definitely some of the best food I've had at a Cabo hotel restaurant in the last several years. From appetizer to dessert, nothing disappointed and as winos we really enjoyed the suggestions from the sommelier. I'd eat the filet, sautéed potatoes and Totoaba fish all the time if I could!

Grilled Octopus Anticuchos - Really good!

There were so many rave reviews about this restaurant on TripAdvisor so to be honest we were SUPER excited to try it and even made sure we'd be going twice during our trip. Unfortunately both my husband and I were super disappointed. The one meal we had here was probably the worst one in our trip. We started with the Grilled Octopus Anticuchos which was super tender and flavourful. It's clear Zadun knows their octopus! We also got the Beef Empanadas. They were a bit doughy and thick but the beef was flavourful. For the main we shared the Bife De Costilla (36oz Porterhouse) cooked to chef's recommended medium rare and a side of the Sautéed Potatoes which lots of reviews raved about. The meat was quite disappointing and way overpriced for what you're getting. It was on the dry side and lacked the yummy buttery beef flavour you'd expect from a porterhouse cut. Also, the whole thing was kinda chewy too so I ended up spitting a lot out in my napkin. For the potatoes, as you'll see from our pics they look deceivingly crispy right? Nope.. Not only weren't they, but the centre was still kinda raw so the experience of eating it was not delightful at all... For dessert we got the Banana Cobbler which was actually pretty good in comparison to everything else.

Filet mignon was quite good. Rice wok was not. Wine selection is limited and overpriced. Desserts are very good. Service is friendly.

The bone in filet was mediocre and was switched for the petit filet which was up there as one of the best steaks I've ever had.

We ordered the bread balls and crispy rice to start. The crispy rice was my favorite! We had steak as our main with fries and sweet Potato. I would suggest trying the fish, our neighbors ordered it and it looked delicious (also confirmed very tasty!). We had the green margarita, wine, espresso martini and an affogato for dessert. Everything including the service was exceptional. I would definitely recommend this place for small or large parties.

The walk from the entrance to the restaurant itself is gorgeous with lush greenery, and the restaurant feels like an extension of all the surrounding natural beauty. In terms of food, we started with the hamachi strawberry crudo and crispy rice bites (with tuna and caviar). Both of these dishes were so delicious -- the hamachi crudo was fresh and light, and the crispy rice bites were decadent especially with the addition of caviar on top. Then, my husband and I shared the signature short rib with a side of truffle fries (which are shaped like the filmstrip fries at Disneyland if you know what I'm talking about!). Both of these items were solid and the short rib was super tender, though I wish the fries came with more aioli on the side. Finally, since we were on our minimoon post-wedding, the staff gave us a complimentary panna cotta dessert to celebrate! The gesture was very kind, but the panna cotta itself was a bit too stiff and not as soft as I would have liked.

My girlfriends and I ordered four Mexican breakfast in different forms but they are just very clever ways of making tacos into breakfast items. I have recently remet up with my girlfriends who gushed about our breakfast expedition at this place. Everything was wonderful but the most pronounced characteristic about this breakfast menu is how something so simple can taste this good. The concept is easy to replicate - taco with bacon and eggs make is breakfast and not lunch but the execution is difficult to pull it off at home because you can't get the ingredients as good as here, plus the avocado is way better Mexico. I took lots of photos about the food but I could not take the ceviche or taco home. So I finally tried to replicate the breakfast taco recently at a friend's house and it was a total winner. Imitation is the best form of flattery. This restaurant is slightly out of the way but it is worth the short walk. On the way to the restaurant, we also found great massage place and a supermarket where I picked up some Kinder eggs for friends' children back in San Francisco. Four brunches, four drinks, several appetizers and two desserts set us back $75 for the four of us. What a steal! No wonder it took me weeks before I feel justified to eat out back at home again.

Capriccio Grill & Wine bar was our last meal of our vacation in San Jose del Cabo, and I'm very sorry it wasn't our first. While the menu appears to be just another pasta 'n steak joint, it's the service and ingredients that set this dining establishment apart. Almost everything they serve is locally sourced, freshly prepared and masterfully paired. We ordered some traditional pasta dishes, and the care in which each dish was prepared was tastefully evident. The fresh sauce and pasta were a delight, and my Chicken Parmigiano was tender, expertly cooked, and had just the right amount of baked cheese and sauce to complement the poultry without drowning it. My wife's pasta had locally-prepared mild chorizo, which was fresh and tasty but a bit too delicately flavored for our expectations. Raul Monroy, the owner and chef came to chat with us about our meal, and was very proud to point out the garden adjacent to the dining area where most of his vegetables are sourced for the meal. He took our criticisms in style, and offered his manifesto for meat pairing with pasta dishes in reply without the slightest offense. He seemed genuinely interested in our feedback, and recommended several other "farm to table" restaurants in the Old Town. Don't wait until your last night in town to experience the food here!
