I fell and dislocated my shoulder, and broke my shoulder blade, 5 month ago. I could not even move my arm without severe pain. The staff at Humpal were very helpful in getting me in as soon as possible. The girls in the front office worked with me getting my insurance in order, the Physical therapist assigned to me was Rachel, she was very knowledgeable, kind and took her time to explain to me what the next months would bring, and what exercises would help me get my range my motion back. She and other Therapist worked on my range over the next 5 months. Tyler, is a PTA, but his knowledge, encouragement and skills helped me beyond words. When I thought I could not bear the pain any more, he had compassion but would not let me shrink back. When I told him I could not raise my arm on a certain day, he said," Yes you can, show me!" And I did! He wouldn't let me give up. His encouraging words kept me going. He is firm, and not deterred from your pain, but that's exactly what you need if you plan on getting where you need to be. Rachel moved, so Brain, PT, was assigned to me. He is as hard as Tyler, but boy do they help you get where you need to be! Brain, is very knowledgeable on how your body works and what your muscles and nerves are suppose to do, that he works out those muscles. You might feel like he doesn't feel your pain but he does. He is very compassionate and wants to help you get where you need to be. I can honestly say, I wouldn't leave to therapy before taking pain meds, because I would tell my husband I was on my way to get tortured. LOL By the third month I started looking forward to the torture and did not take the pain meds. I had goals I needed to accomplish before my therapy ended, and I am almost there. The guys that work on the floor (gym) are amazing. I don't know all their names, but Chris, Frank, Mike, Vincent,and others are very attentive to you. Some days the staff is running from one station to the other to accommodate all the patients but they help each other like a family. Until I came to Humpal PT, I was dealing with lower back pain for the better part of 4 years. Having had back surgery previously, everyone else I went to kept misdiagnosing me and prescribing me all kinds of pain meds and several epidurals. It wasn't until I met with Sam at Humpal that I finally felt relief for the first time in years! After discussing my history and symptoms, we were able to determine my issue was with SI joint and a pelvic misalignment. After an adjustment then and there, my pain relief was instant. Humpal Physical Therapy is my #1 recommendation for physical therapy in the Coastal Bend! My son tore his ACL his senior year of high school playing basketball. Humpal Physical Therapy helped strengthen his knee quickly after surgery with exercises that would help him come back stronger and faster. The therapists there never made him feel like he wasn't an important patient. The therapists there have great experience in what they are doing and always make sure you are doing your exercises properly. The machines there are great and never have any problems. They also do a great job at sanitizing everything after its been used. My son is pretty quiet but he adjusted easily and enjoyed interacting with his therapists. Right before this whole quarantine/pandemic hit, I had torn two ligaments in my ankle. I'm a high intensity, past collegiate tennis player, & being off the court has currently been a bit agonizing!
