My husband and I love supporting other small business each year during the New Years time. We decided to come and try out this Chinese restaurant. We ordered out. We got the Chicken, beef & broccoli, sesame chicken and house lo mein. My husband went to pick up the order and he said the man was very nice and gave us something for new years we thought it was a calender but it was a nice spoon , fork & chopsticks . It's a great Chinese food spot and the owners are very kind! They have a wonderful wonton soup and love the chicken and broccoli!

My picnic didn't go exactly as planned; the tables I glimpsed after my Harriman hike turned to be part of a "residents only" park. And, yes, a police car just happened to arrive at the parking lot right when I showed up. I reckon this is the kind of place where my non-resident status would be more apparent than average so I ate on the train station bench. But the food itself was a success. The cold noodles are fine but the standout is the shrimp with curry sauce, which I tried because it was featured on the front window. The sauce was spicier than the usual. I was impressed with the fresh, crunchy vegetables. Hunan Garden looks like many other Chinese takeout joints but the flavors, value and service were above average. It's not in my proverbial backyard I hope to return someday, perhaps for the avocado egg roll. read more

I went to the restaurant and picked up avocado rolls. They were amazing as well as the sauce. I also ordered wonton soup another great pick. But lastly I ordered chicken fried rice and as I went to eat at home the rice was brown mushy and no flavor. Not fried. I called the restaurant because I am sick and I do not want to go out again and the owner the lady that answered the phone told me it wasn't her problem that I didn't like it and this was after telling her I was sick etc she went on and on she spoke so fast I could barely understand a word and she was soooo fn rudeeeeee! I told her that as an owner of a business she should know how to handle and treat people better and obviously doesn't care about losing me and now many others as a result of her unprofessional demeanor and disrespectful to the core. Hunan Garden sucks sorry to say. The guy who took our order cant understand basic English. I was sitting next to my wife when she placed our order. She ordered Chicken And Broccoli dark sauce and one Chicken and Broccoli in white sauce. Wouldn't you know the order was missing the Chicken and Broccoli in white sauce. She was very methodical when ordering. They refused to make good and deliver my order. I live 3 minutes away. They wanted me to come back. BEWARE-- all allergens are not listed on the delivery menu posted on google!!!! I got something I always order from dozens of other Chinese food restaurants, beef chow fun, and this restaurant puts PEANUT butter in theirs. It's not a normal ingredient that goes into that dish. It's not listed on their delivery menu as being in it. I have a severe peanut allergy and ended up in the ER. I could've died, not even being dramatic. $564 later I'm still alive and it was the most expensive Chinese food I've had in my life. read more

Is this really takeout? Why yes, it is. Hunan Garden is great take out. It is surprisingly very fresh. I have even seen them make the fried rice to order. A few years ago, I swore I would never have takeout Chinese food again due to many bad experiences at other establishments. This place has converted me! My husband is glad I am back on the wagon. We devour their amazing brown rice together. So what's good you ask? - Fried Dumplings - Scallion Pancakes (freshly prepared) - Spring Rolls - Orange Chicken (it even has orange peels in it) - Brown Rice (fluffy) They do not accept credit cards, but who cares? We have been going to Hunan Garden for years, but after their recent change in owners, it is safe to say that they won't be seeing our faces anymore. I placed an order over the phone and picked it up 10 mins later. Once I got home, I realized that one of my family's meals was not in the bag, and my meal was wrong. We simply called back and were disturbed by how they treat their costumers. After a long phone call, we we're brought our food, later to find out it was wrong once again. Lastly, after we finished an awful meal, we were disturbed by a text from Hunan Garden stating it was our fault and that they didn't do anything wrong. NEVER go back to this place, they are disrespectful to the customers and deserve to lose any and all customers. read more

I've been getting Hunan Garden for many years. It's changed owners a couple times, but the food has stayed consistently good. The workers are friendly, it's quick and the prices are great. Though it's a Chinese place, my favorite dish is their Pad Thai! Keep in mind it's cash only, but they do have an ATM if you forget. read more

Food portions are not quite as big as some other take-out places, but I would say the quality more than makes up for that. The staff was friendly and helpful with helping us select a menu and dishes, and the pricing was the best quote compared to others in the area. the fried chicken wings are good on a good day. make sure u ask them to give you the larger wings b/c sometimes they sneak in tiny little wings! the rice is good (soft and fluffy) and fried rice is good. their bbq spare ribs is a hit or miss; sometimes good but other times dry. the friend dumplings are ok. the shrimp w/ lobster sauce is very runny and the lobster sauce has NO lobster flavor. their beef n broccoli is ok -- a bit too much oyster or soy sauce or perhaps they use too much corn starch and gv too much sauce. their chow fun is a hit or miss -- sometimes very soffy. so far their pad thai is good. their hot and sour soup is quite hot. this is an ok plc for take out when you re starving but don't expect much -- disappointing b/c the ppl that work there are chinese so i expect better tasting chinese food. this is a take out but there is a couple of tables there for u to sit and eat -- very casual place for buddies -- do not take a date there or else you'll not hv a 2nd date w/ that person! read more
