Been here a couple of times to gather my thoughts. Food is above average but could easily be improved. Number 1 is that it is never ready on time and somehow never really hot. I live 5 minutes away and always have to reheat it. Number 2 is the lack of sauce and spice, nothing is remotely spicy and you need to get a baby spoon to maybe get a scoop if sauce off the bottom. Number 3 is their prices charged are higher than their menu. Almost not noticeable but I noticed, just print new menu's if you raised your prices, pretty bad business practice. Best bone in spareribs I've had ...wonton soup wasn't too salty as most places. Great noodles and duck sauce served first.... I don't ever order crab Rangoon, but they came with the combination plate and were excellent. The restaurant is also very beautifully decorated...everything is new!!! Very good fried rice. That is always nice to see. Such a simple meal but you can really tell the difference when it's a very good one. You know what I like? A lot of egg in my fried rice. Fry me up. More cholesterol the better... your doctor is lying to you. Just go work out. Slightly elevated levels are good for the muscles. Big muscles. Big dumplings. Big dumplings make big muscles. Big muscles need more dumplings to replenish. Life like a circle. Beware, this restaurant is VERY inconsistent. We have ordered take-out a few times, (mostly lo mein and egg rolls) and sometimes its good and sometimes not good at all. Most recently we ordered the appetizer Szechuan dumplings in Sesame Peanut Sauce. We had it once before and it was very good, this time, the pork stuffing was rock hard. Difficult to cut! Sauce had no heat at all and noodles were gummy. Threw them out. Ordered Cold Noodles with Sesame Peanut Sauce. Not the typical sauce preparation you might expect. Noodles were way too al Dente and completely dry! A scant amount of tasteless sauce on the bottom of the container. Threw them out. Dinner was Chicken Chow Fun. Noodles were completely overcooked and mushy. Wish I had taken pictures. Restaurant is pricey for serving size. We won't be back. read more

Ten of us celebrated my sister in law's birthday here yesterday and had a memorably delicious meal. We ordered the likes of old school poo poo platters, dumplings, pork fried rice, spare ribs, moo shu pork, shrimp with walnuts , won ton soups and traditional ramen plus other dishes. Just about everything was absolutely delicious and we are used to eating in NY's Chinatown which is a very high standard to compete with. I recommend that you give this place a try since Chinatown is a bit of a trek from Mahwah. The service was also spot on and the staff were very accommodating. read more

My wife and I had dinner there on a Saturday evening. We were seated promptly and the service was good from start to finish. Their egg drop wonton soup was excellent as were our main plates. I had General Tao's Chicken and my wife had the Hunan Double Delight with shrimp and scallops over a black bean sauce. My only criticism is that the fried noodles delivered to the table were not as described on the website. They were not wide and did not seem to be house made. They seemed on par with what you get in a bag at lower end take away places. It is a BYOB and we did bring a good appropriate wine so we were fine. read more

I don't know what has happened but their food has literally lost its flavor . It all looked appetizing (except for the ribs), smelled lovely but upon eating, it was lacking in flavor. First off she had gotten the order wrong, I had ordered spare rib TIPS, she gave us RIBS. The ribs were paltry with VERY LITTLE MEAT ON THEM. And once we took a bite, it was like having a pork jerky rib. DRY and CHEWY. It was like ribs have been sitting in the oven or under a heat lamp ALL DAY. And at $17.50!! WTF? A literally waste. I was looking to eat something quick was driving around and came across this place. The restaurant is very nice, fancier than most Chinese restaurants. I ordered the chicken in garlic sauce and it was some of the better I have had in the area. This is not "fast food" Chinese by any means. The chicken was cooked perfectly, tender, juicy, and thinly sliced. The garlic sauce was yummy, and had a little kick from chillies that were added. The food was not greasy at all. I took out but did not order ahead, they were very fast, I only had to wait like 5 min. I will be back to try more of the food, probably sit in next time. read more

We had the chicken corn soup that was delicious. For entrees we had the pan fried subgum noodles, lo mein and the Amazing chicken. It was my first time to have the Amazing Chicken and it was my favorite. It is in a slightly spicy sweet sauce and was delicious! I stopped in here for lunch a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised, so I headed back there for dinner with my boyfriend and we were not disappointed. It took a few minutes to get a table, but once settled our waitress, Karen, greeted us and asked for our drink order. First, I love the decor here!! Classy, clean, and open with warm, deep earth tones. The dining room has a rich feel to it- you feel like you are in NYC rather than a strip mall. Thought was put into details- stone vases instead of the typical clear glass on each table; nice, weighty flatware instead of the tin-like utensils at most restaurants (I kind of want a set for home!), even the menus are printed on heavy paper with a matte finish, not the glossy laminate every other place uses. Utensils, dishes and drinkware are stylishly different and classy - I have been to really expensive restaurants that don't serve with this much elegance. We started with wonton soup- the wontons were thin, delicate, and delicious. My boyfriend had the chicken with broccoli, I ordered the Happy Family (chicken, scallops, shrimp and beef with Chinese veggies). Both were really good, but not served as hot as they should have been...in fact they were not much hotter than warm, if that makes sense. Both dishes were good though, large portions with plenty of meat and fish. The service was exceptionally good- Karen was friendly, eager to make us comfortable, and gracious, as were the hostesses. She looked us up and down before proceeded to sit us down with what looked like a frown on her face. She wasn't any better when we left. Maybe she was having a bad day. Our server was okay, but a little rough around the edges. I enjoyed the chicken and corn soup and shrimp with salt and pepper. The fish with Hunan sauce was so-so... I was in the area as an exhibitor at the Outdoor Show in Suffern. I read the mostly favorable reviews here and thought I'd give it a try. I arrived around 9:15 pm on a Friday pm. The were a few other guests already there. The restaurant was fairly quiet and peaceful. The waitress seated me quickly and politely near the window. I had already viewed the menu online and knew I wanted to try the hot and sour soup, cold sesame noodles with peanut sauce (more just to try it and save the rest for lunch the next day) and moo shu pork for my main course. I had water to drink. The waitress took my order quickly and shortly there after brought my soup. It was a nice hot temperature and the flavor was excellent. Just the right mix of tofu and mushrooms. Then came the sesame noodles. I used to order this from a place near New Brunswick, NJ when I lived there about 30 years ago. I have tried this at many places since then and am most often disappointed. Not this time. They make it just right here with the sauce and veggies mixed in. Am glad I tried it here. The moo shu pork was good as well. It came with 4 pancakes, white rice, and plum sauce. It too was very good. I had plenty left over and the waitress happily packed that up for me and put it all in a bag to go for me. Though there was a little trouble in talking with the waitress (she did not speak English so well) we eventually got things straight and were good to go. I strayed a little out of my usual geographical area of eating and made a pit stop in Mahwah on my way up to Woodbury Commons. I was glad I stopped to try Imperial Dynasty. I tried some typical Chinese American fare here ( lo mein, chicken and broccoli and chicken and shrimp) and it was very good and a great value. They have daily lunch specials everyday including Sunday's (12-3pm). For about $8-$9 you get soup, entree and either ice cream or pineapple pieces. Food was good and the service was great.
