This was a tasty and healthy lunch pit stop on our drive to Washington DC. We thoroughly enjoyed our salad bowls and so did our kiddos. The space is light and airy bustling during the lunch hour on weekdays. Along with the healthy bowls, the smoothies drew us in and they did not disappoint. Everything was made from scratch. We stopped in on a crowded weekend day. It is a standard service of ordering at the counter, take a number and find a seat. The atmosphere reminded me of a busy coffee shop - buzzing energy and noise. It was packed so I was worried about getting a table but we eventually did. Food coming out was incredibly slow but they were all hustling. Food didn't stop coming out, it was just that busy. Found this place on maps traveling down to Virginia. It was a quick hop off the highway to get here in downtown Charleston. The inside of the restaraunt is beautiful. Okay, I have been holding back on writing this review, but after my recent lunch, I've gotta say it: stop changing the menu and removing favorite dishes every month. I am not going to Cocos to eat a fck*n Caesar salad. People love Cocos for the more complex, healthier lunch items. I can walk into any spot in this town and get a Caesar salad. I totally understand changing items based on available ingredients, but getting rid of different versions of a favorite salad is not strategic (like the crispy chicken). Today I had the Caesar salad, and it was not worth $15. My friend had the ahi special curry, and the noodles were not fully cooked. Just overall not the quality expected. Anyway, things are not what they once were. I'm afraid (and won't be shocked) if this place closes within a year. read more

Food is good but use caution on using a credit card I left the tip $10 on $50 tab in cash at the register tip jar. I used my credit card to pay for food and mistakenly did not check mark no tip on the screen. When I received my credit card statement an extra $7 was added to the amount. my fault for not hitting no tip button but disappointed someone would fill in a tip on credit card when I left cash. Someone received a $17 dollar tip. I am from out of town and not driving back to contest charge read more

I've been going to Coco's for a long time for lunch. Until recently, (I'd say within the past 2 months or so) it's always been so good. I've tried so many things on the menu in the past and was never disappointed, but now I can tell the food is different. It's either not as fresh or not as well cooked or flavored- it's changed. I've heard that they have a new head chef that's recently come on board. If that's true, then that explains it. I'm actually sad to be writing this review but maybe someone there will pay attention. I love Coco's and I don't want to see it go downhill, but based on my two last visits there for lunch, I can tell they're not taking as much pride in their food as they once were. I really hope they can get it together!! read more

I didn't know what I wanted for lunch when I landed in Charleston. So when the app suggested Coco's Kitchen I decided to give it a try. Coco's kitchen has a clean, open, updated space, with walls covered with bright paintings. The restaurant has coffee house style seating, with a mixture of tables and chairs closest to the open kitchen, and couches and casual seating nearest to the door. I appreciated the open concept of the establishment, making it easy for me to go to the counter, quickly scanned the menu on the wall and select a Vietnamese bowl with grilled chicken as a protein. The dish arrived rather quickly, and was presented beautifully. The bowl was wonderful a blend of contrasts. Featuring hot savory, grilled chicken and chilled vegetables including cucumbers, shredded carrots, lettuce, and a sweetened slaw. The dish also had what appeared to be soft Vermicelli noodles topped with fresh herbs, and a spicy crunchy noodle garnish with a tangy Vietnamese-style dressing. While I don't know if it was an authentic Vietnamese dish, I really liked it and would recommend the dish and Coco's Kitchen to anyone looking for a bite in downtown Charleston. read more

Coco's was the perfect spot for lunch takeout. I ordered online and my food was ready quickly - before the estimated time. I was met by a friendly employee, and pickup was easy. If I had decided to eat-in, I would have had my choice of seats (around 2pm on a Thursday). The food was really delicious and tasted fresh. A beautiful little spot with some truly delicious food. The tart cherry salad is a perfectly balanced sweet/savory salad that I've been back three times for in less than a week. I wanted to try something new and interesting and through my Yelp research I found this spot. It's located in downtown with metered street parking free Monday-Saturday nights after 6pm and all of Sunday. Luckily, we were able to find a spot easily. Inside was modern and relatively clean. We had to wait a little bit to be seated as they were pretty busy; however, this place had a decent amount of seating and space. Service was good overall, but it wasn't as consistent as I would've liked for actions such as water refills, asking for extra napkins, etc. This was partly because they were very busy that night. They have a variety of food options - apps, salads, sandwiches, pies (pizzas), and dessert. We ended up ordering a large pizza (thin crust) to split - half Thai and half Chicken Gouda. Both were yummy although the crust was a tad burnt - nothing bad to the extent that taking bites were an effort. Overall, I preferred the Thai since I've never come across a Thai style pizza and I could really taste the curry sauce. The only downside of the Thai was that the shrimp were slightly overcooked, which could be potentially explained by us ordering a pizza split in two styles with them cooking the entire pizza evenly versus what is needed for each ingredient. We finished the entire pizza between the two of us, but I could see someone having some leftovers. If possible, they might want to do some minor pest management. The entire time of our visit a fruit fly or gnat was hovering around us and the food. We tried to catch it and protect the food, only for it to ultimately take a permanent dip in my water. My overall assessment was that it was a good place to try in the city. It's not something I would crave, but I wouldn't mind coming back again if I was in the area.
