Second time coming here. My first time was almost a year ago (time flies!) it's sadly not much like I remember. Last time, when I paused midway through my order, "I'll have a two meat plate, with kalua pig and... hmm..." the woman at the cash register (presumably one of the owners) jumped right in with a glowing recommendation of the teriyaki chicken. So, that's what I got. I was glad I did because it was absolutely incredible--the chicken was especially moist and delicious. I liked it so much I ordered a second, identical two meat plate to take home to my wife in SLC, and also bought us some malasadas and musubi to try at home (both delicious). I remember the same woman who had taken my order the first time and the man in the kitchen (presumably also an owner) both bantering and teasing me goodnaturedly when I put in my second order. Today was a disappointment. A young man apparently in training awkwardly took my order for a two meat plate with teriyaki chicken and kalbi beef, with the man from last time over his shoulder looking exasperated and saying, "First you have to click an entree. No, he said kalbi beef. Click here. Did you give him a cup?" I know it can be hard to be new at something, so I wouldn't have thought twice about that had it not been such a stark contrast to last time. It started to get weird when, although I was one of two customers in the establishment, and the most recent one to order, the same young man who had taken my order called out my name from the kitchen five minutes later and seemed not to recognize me. When I walked over, he stared at me perplexed, and repeated my name, "Um, Kevin? Both the chicken and beef were overcooked and dry. I wish I had taken pictures, because they were also cut up rather oddly--the beef cut in strips so thin they were practically spaghetti (they were roughly equal in width and thickness, and literally fit between the tines of plastic fork they were served with in both dimensions) and the chicken in a pile of haphazard chunks (no two alike). Disappointed, Been coming here for a minute and I'm Not sure if they changed their recipe for the Malasadas or if they were just old and burnt. The Mac salad was off with peas & a weird sweet sauce. read more

Garlic Chicken is my favorite dish. The bowl is the perfect size for me and I like the Mac salad.

Super nice, gave great recommendations. You can tell they're having a nice time and they enjoy they're jobs. One guy was even playing his guitar. They said aloha when I walked in. The place has cool decor. I haven't even got my food yet but I know this place is really cool. read more

Had the 2 meat plate with the kalua pig and kalbi beef! It was excellent with just the right amount of flavor. Not overwhelming and not underwhelming it was perfect. I usually don't like Mac salad because there is too much Mayo, but these guys got it right on that one as well! I will definitely be back snd be a repeat customer! read more

The food wasn't that good, especially compared to places like Ohana grill, on top of that it was quite expensive. My Katsu chicken breading was burnt, so maybe i just had an unlucky experience. HOWEVER, the thing that saves this rating from being lower is the service. I cannot remember having as excellent of service as we had. The 2 people working were so nice and funny. If I'm being honest the food for the price was like 2.5 stars, but the service makes this place 4 stars. read more

Food was amazing! Had the garlic chicken like everyone was recommending and it was 5 stars! Also got the curry katsu which was even better than the garlic chicken and the Kalhi beef which was just as good! My favorite was probably the loco moco though, it just hit the spot that night! Drinks were pretty amazing as well, definitely recommend the lemonades, we got a couple Hawaiian sun juices and some lemonades which were mind blowing for sure. To top it all off we tried the guava cake! I don't think I have been to too many restaurants that everything on the menu is such top quality! I don't think you could go wrong if you tried! The best part of it though was the ambiance and the kindness of the owner, true Hawaiian hospitality, busting in song throughout and chatting with customers. My wife generally isn't the biggest fan of Hawaiian food joints because of how much fat is in the meat, but the meat at Hungry Hawaiian was lean and tasted great and she loved her meal. On our way to Salt Lake City and needed a place to grab a quick dinner with our baby. We had planned to get tacos, but came across Hungry Hawaiian and we are so glad we did. The food was amazing and the owners/staff very friendly. I ordered the Kalua (pig) plate with rice, stir fried veggies, and macaroni salad - the pork was so tender and extremely flavorful. All the sides complemented the dish. My husband ordered the loco moco - it was excellent. We had a sample of the Portuguese sausage and would definitely try a full plate of that next time as it is made in house. If we are ever in Provo again we know where we want to eat. Came here with my boyfriend, ordered, and waited 20 minutes before getting our food. Normally I would understand this wait time if it was actually busy, but we were the only people in the restaurant and the two employees were in the back goofing around. After finally getting our food, the rice, meat, and stir fry vegetables (broccoli that wasn't even stir fried) were all cold. Also, they said that they hadn't thawed any beef so all of the beef products were unavailable unless we wanted to wait 40 minutes for it to unthaw. The food is good. The service not so much. I order from them a number of times on door dash. Twice my order missed the guava cake. Each time they said they would give me credit for the missing cake. They didn't. I took a break from them for a while. For some insane reason I tried to order from here again. After waiting 45 minutes with a hungry kid they cancelled my order.
