We have been members since about 2012 and I could not say enough amazing things about Hunnicutt! Not only are their wines amazing (especially if you are a big Cab or Chardonnay fan) but the property is beautiful too.. the best part about Hunnicutt is the staff and the owners. Since we've been members, Andrew, David and John D have been part of Hunnicutt. When we visit, either Seana or Justin (the owners) usually stop by to say hello. The fact that they have had very little to no turnover in staff all these years says a lot about an organization. Additionally, we've been to a handful of their annual parties through the years.. always a great time and when we have a shipment, we try to pick up so that we can make a day of it in St. Helena. All tastings are private as well so when you visit, your party is not going to have to share the time with another party. Highly recommend this hidden gem of a winery for a tasting or especially membership. You are not going to find their wines anywhere else. This is a winery that should be on your list to visit. It felt like a private experience (technically it was, there were no other parties tasting during my visit). The property is stunning, the tour of the caves was interesting, Emily was incredibly knowledgeable and fun to spend a couple hours with, and the wine was fantastic. I did the Cabernet AVA tasting, a little on the pricy side, but so worth it in my opinion! The wines were fantastic, exactly what I was looking for as examples of deep and earthy Napa cabs yet still fruit forward with smooth tannins. Overall, a fantastic experience that you shouldn't overlook. read more

This is a terrific wine tasting experience. We started with a tour of the cave and some wine education. I always love to learn new things and this experience did not disappoint. The cave has many places set up to experience wine. It's fun to see so much thought going into making their tasting experience enjoyable. As we exited part of the cave, he also showed us how close one of the fires came to the property and some spots where the heat was so intense that it melted the rock - incredible and scary. The wine was great and we enjoyed each taste. I especially enjoyed the Cabernet Sauvignon (Brinkman Block). Looking forward to getting my order in the fall. read more

I am here usually twice during harvest, as the wine maker I assist makes a few clients' wine here. So do a couple of others whose wines are worth noting: Perliss, Tor, Rudius, Doumani and more are all produced here. The staff is terrific and the facility clean and well organized, unlike another local facility I pass through. There is a nice guest area with a good view. Can't say enough good things about this winery. Spent the weekend in St. Helena for my 50th bday, and chose Hunnicutt for my main bday lunch. (Also did my 40th here as well!) Smaller production wines that focus on bigger-bodied Chards, Zins & Cabs. Visit starts in the outside lounge with some history on the winery, and moves into the cave for a tour. Can do tasting in either location; this time we did cave in part because of hot weather. Hospitality director Andrew Bohi is the nicest guy ever, and really knows his stuff. We love to find lesser known wineries, making very good wines, at relatively reasonable price points, that offer intimate, personalized tasting experiences. What a great winery! If it weren't for my boyfriend's friends, I may never have discovered Hunnicutt! It's a relatively new, appointment only winery, but it is a gem! Friendly staff, beautiful property and delicious wines. I do highly recommend the cave tour, which I found fascinating. Because of the personal attention that we were given, we were really able to look around and ask questions. On this visit, we sampled three wines - Chardonnay, Zinfandel and a Cabernet. While 3 of the 4 of us really enjoyed the Cab, my personal fav was the Zin! I find it hard to find non-pretentious wineries in the Valley these days, but Hunnicutt is definitely one of them! read more

My girlfriend and I went there for wine tasting. We had a very bad experience at Hunnicutt. Shelby Tashlin was the one who was serving us the wine. She was very rude, obnoxious and unprofessional. We told the owner about our bad experience with Shelby but he didn't care as he was only interested in selling us wine. So the owner was unprofessional and a jerk too. Their wine was average and overpriced. Stay away from this winery! read more

This was my second time to Hunnicutt -- the first being WAY back when they first opened. I remember the wines were really, really good. They were so good that they stuck in my head and I always remembered the name. Flash forward ten years. We were planning a wine day in Napa and I thought, "Let's go back to Hunnicutt." Thankfully, when I called two days in advance, Shelby was able to squeeze us in. The four of us came for a tasting. Hunnicutt is known for their amazing reds but I believe they also have a Chardonnay (which was not available when we visited). I am thrilled to report that the wines were not only as good as I remember, but were even more spectacular! Shelby was the perfect host. She sat with us and patiently explained the background on the wines and also went with the flow of our conversation. She was an easy, down-to-earth person to spend time with. Hunnicutt wines were rich, complex and deep. Hunnicutt had a Pinot Noir, a red blend, a Merlot and a superior Cabernet Sauvignon. Each year the red blend has different types of grapes and percentages of each that make it up. The Merlot (typically not one of my "go-to's") was delicious! If I had the budget, I'd have bought a case - a little bit of everything. As it was, I got 2 Pinots and the red blend. Their tasting is $50, waived with the purchase of 3 bottles. You won't want to make the mistake I made the first time around - leaving empty handed. Make sure to buy at least 1 bottle, preferably 3. They are so good and can sit around for awhile, only getting better. Not sure many people know about this place. It's a good secret. read more

This place is truly a hidden gem. It's refreshing to visit smaller, family run wineries over the big touristy ones. Don't get me wrong, the touristy ones have its appeal but the experience is vastly different. Hunnicut does quite a bit of blends which makes for an interesting and unique tasting. Justin's hospitality is unmatched. Truly a friendly and personable guy who will make you feel like family when you come to visit. I've been here twice and both times I got a great and informative tour of the winery. We even ate lunch once in the cave. There's also an outdoor area where our group played a few games of corn hole. If you're looking for a true small town (as Napa really is) experience then you need to book an experience here. read more

Hunnicutt is a member of Gems of the Valley, an exclusive wine membership club of nine prestigious wineries in the Napa Valley. The wines were lovely, but a bit light for my palate. We spent an hour with Mo, who educated us on the winery and specific wines. He informed us that if you put your nose and smell the top of the glass, the middle of your glass, and the bottom of your glass, you pick up three very distinctive aromas. Top (fruit), middle (oak), bottom (alcohol). I will never forget this information and will definintely pass it on to other wine lovers.....friggin amazing! read more

This place is a hidden gem and I wish it could stay that way! I have been coming to this place since the caves were still being built. The atmosphere is beautiful, very peaceful and serene. It is by appointment only but if not many people are there they will usually take you in. Because it is this way, it is not crowded with a bunch of people just looking to get drunk. I wasn't sure we were at the right place when we arrived because the entire property is under construction but what a unique afternoon we had! Jennifer welcomed us with a fire in the fireplace, a glass of wine, and a smile. After telling us about the history of the company and the plans for the property we donned hard hats, took our wine and a flashlight, and got to walk through the half completed caves. Hunnicutt winery off the Silverado Trail is a great place in the making.. Yes, Justin Hunnicutt is hard at work finishing up his cave and next his beautiful winery. I can't wait to visit with friends and customers once they are done.. Jennifer Maltabano who is the property hostess is amazing. Check them out, see the cave being completed and get yer hands on some of that sweet Hunnicutt juice. I recommend the Chardonnay, the Zinfandel, and the 935 cabernet savignon. Very nice secluded winery up a winding road off Silverado Trail. Enjoyed a tasting with Andrew Bohi. Andrew was a great host, showed us the property, explained the story behind the winery and presented a wonderful tasting experience. We sampled most of their wines and found all to be better than average. I am fairly particular when it comes to wine and its quality, we came away with half a case, if that's any indication. Know upfront that my husband and I are the bain of all wineries...we bring our toddler with us most days we are tasting. While we know she is well-behaved winery staff do not. However, Jason greeted us in the new (light, modern, and comfortable) tasting room warmly. He provided great information, answered our questions, gave us an impromptu tour of the caves, and even offered crayons to our daughter. We drank the kool-aid and joined the wine club after enjoying several red wines across price points. Looking forward to spring and summer tasting on their new patio. read more

My experience at Hunnicutt was probably one of the best that I've ever had in wine country. Our host was Jennifer, who was friendly, open, and bubbly. I loved the relaxed atmosphere, and the unpretentious nature of the winery. The wines were excellent, and I didn't try one that I wouldn't drink again. This is the perfect place for a visit with a group of friends or family who love great wines. Needless to say, we will definitely be back soon. Spent an amazing couple of hours here this weekend, tasted the current offerings, toured the caves. Set among the pine trees in the hills, it was a beautiful place to sit and enjoy some fabulous wines. Our hostess, Jennifer was great. Wines are great. "Cave" tour is a joke and NOT worth the up charge. They aren't real caves, they are storage hallways carved out of a mountain and sprayed down with concrete. Nice staff, slim tasting selection compared to other smaller vineyards, nice setting, but not a standout in a very crowded field. read more
