Amazing experience!! John was delightful and made our time very memorable. He is passionate, informative and a great representative for the Hunnicut brand. Bravo!

Some terrific wines being made here!

I am here usually twice during harvest, as the wine maker I assist makes a few clients' wine here. So do a couple of others whose wines are worth noting: Perliss, Tor, Rudius, Doumani and more are all produced here. The staff is terrific and the facility clean and well organized, unlike another local facility I pass through. There is a nice guest area with a good view. Whoever invites you here, go and enjoy!

    Lunch in the cave!

Can't say enough good things about this winery. Spent the weekend in St. Helena for my 50th bday, and chose Hunnicutt for my main bday lunch. (Also did my 40th here as well!) Smaller production wines that focus on bigger-bodied Chards, Zins & Cabs. Visit starts in the outside lounge with some history on the winery, and moves into the cave for a tour. Can do tasting in either location; this time we did cave in part because of hot weather. Hospitality director Andrew Bohi is the nicest guy ever, and really knows his stuff. We love to find lesser known wineries, making very good wines, at relatively reasonable price points, that offer intimate, personalized tasting experiences. Hunnicutt definitely checks all of those boxes.

What a great winery! If it weren't for my boyfriend's friends, I may never have discovered Hunnicutt! It's a relatively new, appointment only winery, but it is a gem! Friendly staff, beautiful property and delicious wines. I do highly recommend the cave tour, which I found fascinating. Because of the personal attention that we were given, we were really able to look around and ask questions. On this visit, we sampled three wines - Chardonnay, Zinfandel and a Cabernet. While 3 of the 4 of us really enjoyed the Cab, my personal fav was the Zin! I find it hard to find non-pretentious wineries in the Valley these days, but Hunnicutt is definitely one of them!

Patrick was an excellent tour guide, very personable and informative. Highly recommend this winery if you're interested in a low key, relaxed tasting. They are a small, family run operation with a great facility to tour, and delicious wines to sample.

Beautiful back patio deck views and barrel room. The madrigal family has been caring for the land for decades makes killer wine. Update: Sad to hear madrigal is CLOSED recently sold June 2024. Sign is down. Per the north bay business journal (Jul 10, 2024) quote: "The deal, completed June 21, includes 8 acres of planted vines, the winery, appointment-only tasting room, a garden and a small home, but founder Chris Madrigal retains the namesake brand, according to Hundred Acre. Madrigal did not respond to inquiries on the future of the brand. Madrigal's father, Jess, also founder of Madrigal Vineyard Management, retained 40 acres of vines, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. The purchase price and other terms of the deal weren't disclosed. The Madrigal grape and wine family came to Napa Valley with Jacinto Madrigal from Mexico in 1938. Jess Madrigal started the vineyard company in the mid-1980s, farming about 800 acres of vines. Chris Madrigal started the winery in 1995, and it was producing about 10,000 cases annually."

When we arrived inside, we found out that it wasn't a private tasting and were shared a 4 seater table with another couple across from us, and also a group of 10-12 next to us. I'm not sure if there are different tastings you can book on their website, but I did want to mention this. Our wine educator was very personable and knowledgeable though, which was great. He managed our table and the large group next to us and made the entire tasting seem like one large group tasting. As for the wines, I didn't enjoy them quite as much as other wineries we went to on our trip (Fortunati and Joseph Phelps). The price of the Frank Family bottles were also comparable to Joseph Phelps, but slightly cheaper on average. For that price, I would have expected a better taste. At the end of our tasting, our host did bring out a 2019 Winston Hill Red which was on the higher end compared to the typical wines provided at the tasting - this one was tasty and was actually one we purchased. We didn't like any of the other wines enough to purchase.

This time, I KNOW I loved it so much. It was my favorite stop. The property is beautiful and it was a lovely fall day with a breeze and leaves changing color and falling. Unfortunately I can't remember our sommelier's name but he was very kind and knowledgeable. We were located in a semi-private room with another girls trip so it was a perfect match. The wine was so delicious our whole party ended up purchasing a bottle of the Pinot noir to take home. I know there are a plethora of wineries in Napa Valley, but Frank Family is a must visit.

Walking around the castle, seeing all the details, the animals, the old-world architecture... it was almost surreal. I was honestly speechless. Our sommelier, Gerardo, was top notch. He was super friendly and really knew his stuff. He told us so much about the wines and the history of the castle, which made the tasting even more interesting. We tasted five different wines, and they all had their own character and flavors. But my favorite by far was the La Fantasia Frizzante Rose. This one really surprised me. It was naturally sweet, light, and slightly sparkling, with a really juicy fruit flavor. I got a lot of strawberry and berry right away, with that sweet-tart fruitiness that reminded me of fresh summer berries. There was also a little pomegranate and raspberry flavor that gave it a brighter finish. It was refreshing, smooth, and just really easy to drink. Out of everything we tasted, this was the one I kept thinking about. Definitely my personal favorite.

This tour took you into the bowels of the castle where you got to see where they stored the wine and places where the wine was made. Believe it or not this is an unusual experience and I would say worth every minute of the tour. Having said that this is a castle that was brought over from Italy brick by brick. So the dungeon isn't a real dungeon and the tunnels aren't exactly tunnels from the 1600s but still you get the feeling of how the Winery operates. It's truly an experience that you won't have anywhere else in Napa. They also have a mini animal farm on the property that you see once you exit the facility. This is a nice little experience for the children who go on the tour. The gift shop is actually an excellent one with unusual items not normally found in the local gift shops. I purchased several of their aiders as gifts and everyone loves them. If you can order them online, I would do so they're very unusual and a great gift for wine lovers.
