Absolutely fantastic experience all the way. If you have a chance to do the Hall Rutherford Platinum tasting experience with tour, do not miss it. Everything is top notch! Collin was fantastic and it felt like he was part of the Hall family (maybe he is!) giving us a tour of the family estate. Even the grapes looked plumper and healthier than the ones down in Napa Valley. The platinum tasting at Hall St Helena is not going to be as fabulous as this so if you're trying to choose between them, do Rutherford. We must've stopped at 10 places in Napa and this one was the best all around (wine/ambiance/education). Must bring a sober driver (me). Very winding mountainous roads with no railings, and the building is so far in the mountains with spotty cell service, the Ubers don't like to come here. You can hire me to be your driver if I can come eat all the food that comes with your tasting!

This was a special, private tasting experience meant for the discerning wine lover. We were treated to a private cave tasting that had eight pours from various small lots. The information given was exceptional. The wines were pricey (over $200/bottle), so keep this in mind when visiting.

Cortney was our wine educator and she was fabulous. Gave such a great summary of the history of Hall and its wines. The chandelier tasting was beyond special and experience we won't forget. This is a must if you are passionate about wine and want a breathtaking setting.

cheese and wine pouring was perfect!

I had such an amazing time at HALL's Rutherford location! I booked an Appellation Experience for 2 people on a Monday afternoon - there were no other guests for the day, so it felt like a private tour. WINE Each of the wines were amazing! My personal favorite was the 2017 Bergfeld Cab. HALL is definitely known for the cabs - and they are GREAT - but I was also pleasantly surprised by the other wines. I loved the WALT Blue Jay Pinot Noir and purchased a bottle to take home! EXPERIENCE The Appellation Experience includes a tour of the property + a tasting that includes a small charcuterie board. It was a great experience and felt super personalized. We could choose to have our tasting at either the chandelier room or outdoors (we chose outdoors because the weather was amazing). VIEWS 10/10! The views while you're on the property + the art in the property itself + the interior = amazing. HOST Trisha (who is mentioned in other reviews too) was an incredible host and wine educator. She is so friendly and truly makes your experience feel personal and special. MONEY THO At about $125/person (with tax), this tasting experience is pricier than most - but worth it! At $195ish/bottle, the cabs are super pricey, but my Pinot Noir was a steal at $40ish.

We started off with this crisp WALT Chardonnay and an amazing view perched above the valley.

Incredible experience from beginning to end....the wine, the wine, the wine plus an incredible setting! Can not say enough about DGreen and our time at Hall!

Spectacular! What a great start being welcomed and greeted with a glass of wine upon entering the room with practically-floor-to-ceiling-windows, while taking in the views from inside and out. The tour was very enjoyable.. I loved the beautiful Swarovski crystals adorning the elegant tasting room, and how the table was already set with 3 glasses of the wines we were tasting, a stemmed glass of water, and a small plate of meat and cheese. Considering this location's elegance, beauty, and lovely wines -- as well as pricey tour-and-tasting cost ($60/guest), we were surprised (and rather disappointed) that our tour guide was admittedly new not only to Hall Rutherford, but very new to wines. Having someone (at least) seemingly more knowledgeable, and more of a veteran, would have seemed more appropriate for this sophisticated establishment. Other than that, lovely place and delightful wines. Very enjoyable experience.

HALL Rutherford was a winery / tasting experience unlike any other! Our wonderful host, Natalie, was extremely knowledgeable of the history of HALL/WALT wineries, and she was such a joy to be around during our early afternoon (exclusive) wine tasting and tour. For context, they only see 15 guests a day at this location! HALL Rutherford is in the hills, exhibiting views across the beautiful Napa Valley. We were given a beautiful tour of the winery (and learned of the improvements and iterations the owners have instilled into their winemaking processes). The Chilean Red (chandelier) was worth all of the hype and we felt so lucky and blessed to be able to experience such a beautiful tour on our trip! To close, we were given Kathryn Hill's book (The Perfect Score) - can't wait to read! In short: HALL Rutherford is a must stop in Napa, and we can't wait to visit the St. Helena room as well. Thanks, Natalie!

Awesome tour and tasting! Another unique location in Napa. Hall is rich in history and tradition - both in Napa and outside the valley. The owners spared no expense in putting togther a magnificent wine operation and guest setting, to complement the portfolio of amazing Napa valley wines.

Before the tasting, we had a tour of the grounds, where we learned about the wine-making process, storage, and grape cultivation. The facility was exceptionally clean, which I was pleasantly surprised by. I don't think they would offer tours if the facilities weren't up to par. Back in the room with the long dining table, we were served charcuterie boards that complemented the wine. Although I'm more of a beer guy, I couldn't resist the allure of the wine. As one after the other wines improved, my wife and I decided to buy a bottle as a memento. We ended up getting the Rubicon, which we'll save for 25 years. We plan to return to get a more aged Rubicon so we can share this experience with our family. However, our host (the birthday girl) made a mistake and forgot to update the headcount. As a result, the bill was slightly higher than expected. If I were a member of the service staff, I would have politely informed them of the error and insisted on a refund. But the staff was incredibly accommodating and helped the host by removing the guests who couldn't make it. Their exceptional service made the experience even more memorable.

The rail follows alongside the highway so views were not necessarily 'outstanding' because I was on the train. I do not need to ride this train to see these views. I did not have to drive, that brings the rating up, but there are MANY ways to not drive in Napa. It was a little rickety, but acceptable. The food, 2/5 stars, substandard for the cost. Portions were small (half a piece of bacon, 1 small egg for a Benedict, etc.) and taste was middle of the road. The service/staff 4/5. Most everyone was very hospitable and did their job well. However, it did feel as if we were 'just another group'. Everything is very script and not especially personalized. For example, I'm on a wine train and no one asked my wine preference. Which brings me to the wine we tasted on the train 1/5. I expected a higher quality of tastings. In addition, offer a choice of flight, white or red or a mix of both. Or, hear me out...offer wine pairings for each course (included with my ticket, not for extra cost). Stopping at the sign and enjoying the tasting in the open car was a wonderful choice, wine selection is greatly lacking and to be honest, a great disappointment. Overall, I enjoyed my time, but this was not necessarily due to being on the Napa train specifically, it was because I was on vacation in Napa. I could see the business cutting costs in almost every aspect and that is unfair because I am paying a premium cost of approx. $100/h. And for some of that time, I'm at the winery and not even on the train. Which brings me to the end of my rating, for the stops 2.9/5. The stops felt rushed, especially our first stop. They are about an hour each, but this includes disembark and reembark times. I wanted a little more time at each winery to make a purchase or walk the grounds. I will not be recommending this particular experience, I believe many improvements can be made. Lastly, I booked this experience due to several social media content creators experience. These creators are getting their experiences paid for. Be sure to read ratings from those of us not being sponsored.

Hands Down the Best Driver in Napa Valley!…read more I discovered George on Yelp, and after comparing other Napa car services--many quoting well over $1,000 for wine tours--it's clear why his customers rave about him. His reviews truly say it all! There were plenty of reasons we chose George over the rest. From our very first contact, George was incredibly responsive and communicative. I had a party of 10 (6 adults and 4 kids) for my husband's 40th birthday celebration and needed a vehicle that could securely accommodate a car seat with a latch system--his car was absolutely perfect. He arrived right on time, greeted us warmly, and was super easy to talk to. Throughout the day, George consistently arrived within minutes at each of our destinations. He didn't just drop us off--he guided us to the exact entrances and exits of every winery, making the whole experience smooth and stress-free. On top of that, he shared insightful feedback about why each winery is special, adding a whole new level of appreciation to our tour. Another bonus, he provided water in an iced cooler and white glove door service! What really stood out was George's impressive local knowledge. Without even needing navigation, he expertly drove us from Petaluma to Napa while sharing fascinating stories and history about the wineries, estates, and the region itself. If you want a professional, friendly, affordable, and knowledgeable driver for your Napa experience, George is your guy! Highly recommend and would easily book him for our next trip!
