I had a fantastic experience at Hunt & Gather. My friends and I decided, on a whim, to go check out an antique store. We stumbled upon Hunt & Gather on Yelp and went. This store is pretty big inside; you would never know it by looking at it from outside. It is filled with treasures both big and small. Like any antique store (or like most), it is a bit crowded with items. Personally, I like that. You really are 'hunting' for treasures here. Yesterday I found this beautiful trinket on the floor of a booth...I would have never found it had I been in a rush. I highly recommend you take your time here. Google reviewers seem more critical of Hunt & Gather and its staff...but personally I had a very different experience. On Google, people wrote that staff was following them, being rude, and that this place was overpriced. Now...your mileage may vary...but I found the staff to be extremely kind. They would check in on me a couple times just to see if I needed help, but largely let me do my own hunting in peace. I think some items are certainly pricey and I can't quite understand why, but by and large I found the prices to be competitive. For example, you can get an entire Noritake china set (with 12 settings!) for $450. Anywhere else this could go easily for $700+. You can buy some dupes at HomeGoods for sure, but HomeGoods aint that cheap -- and I'd argue some of the pieces here are priced even more competitively than HomeGoods. I bought 3 chinoiserie vases/jars yesterday (at ~$30 a pop) and am soooo enamored by them. All in all, I'd recommend you swing by especially if you're furnishing, or refurnishing, your home. There are some really nice things here....and I think I may come by every now and then just to see what's in stock! read more

This is a large store jam-packed with beautiful pieces! There is quite a bit of furniture, but home accessories are in abundance, mostly of the traditional style. If you are in the neighborhood, definitely worth checking out! read more

I went in for their winter clearance sale. Had some ideas in mind of what I wanted - lamps, mirrors, small furniture, etc. Staff greeted me when I walked in and also checked in periodically as I browsed - never felt rushed or pressured. I found a bunch of things I liked and when I asked for help someone immediately came around the store with me to help gather the things I wanted. There was one lamp that had some damage I hadn't noticed, that the staff member pointed out to me. I'm so glad she did because I probably would've gotten it home and then thought I damaged it myself. I ended up buying a slightly different lamp instead. I thought prices were very clearly marked, and I ended up getting some great deals on beautiful pieces! read more

We are big antique lovers in my family, and we stumbled upon Hunt & Gather about 6 years ago. As I was finishing up my college degree I looked forward to the day when I would one day be a homeowner with enough room to haul home some of the amazing pieces (very reasonably priced!) that my mom and I would see at Hunt & Gather. Sure enough, this is the first place that I went looking when I bought 5 years ago, and the pieces from there are some of the most distinct within my home. As the first reviewer noted, there are some things on consignment and as such there are sometimes vendors that are extremely off the mark so far as their pricing is concerned, but as the vendors have a little "nook" where all of their wares are grouped together, when you stumble upon such a situation it is quite easy to move along. The vendor is not themselves there, so there's no sense of awkwardness about the whole thing. For the most part, however, I have found that the prices here are below market and what is for sale is only of the best quality. Happy Hunting! read more

Expansive mix of antiques and new re-productions. The store as a good feel about it (there is huge bird that is there most times). It has multiple vendors and some items on consignment. The prices can vary from very reasonable to quite pricey. All kind of items may be found from lamps, to furniture, paintings and nick-knacks. My only complaint is that I wish the inventory could turn over faster. read more

I stopped in this shop 15-20min before closing time after a pedicure next door. The older lady working the front desk loudly instructed the other employee to close the front door immediately after I walked I . She asked if I needed looking for anything specific and I told her I was just looking. I would have normally been so appreciative of such attentive service, but this felt somewhat discriminatory. There were other customers inside the store that were not being asked to leave or followed around the store. After her second friendly reminder, I mentioned the other patrons in currently the store, she said that they "might work there". I'm SO disappointed with this experience because the items I found during this visit were so unique and reasonably priced. I probably will not return or recommend this establishment to my friends, due to the poor experience--sad because the merchandise was so great and I'm always in the area!! read more

I have, in the past, bought some very nice pieces from the Bernard Street store (not Glenwood, which seems to be mostly junk and/or new items brought in from elsewhere). But you have to look very very carefully. Many vendors are ridiculously over-priced, or some items labeled "antique" certainly are not. So you have to know what you're looking for and looking at, and look carefully, and you can find some good items. Like many stores of this nature, it is often hit or miss. There are a couple of vendors who are the real deal, but many are not. Additionally, I have been overcharged there any number of times. It's usually not by much, and I've always caught it-- but recently, I bought a small book and some Christmas ribbon (about $40 total).. No one else was standing at the counter, and there was nothing else even on the counter. I paid by debit, so had nothing to sign. When I left and got halfway down the road, something made me take a look at the receipt-- I think because the woman had mumbled the final price to me. I noticed the woman who wrapped the book and ribbon turned around and stared at her when she mumbled the price. I noticed that, but didn't question it. So I was at a stoplight, and I pulled the receipt out of my purse and looked at it. She had actually charged me $713+ -- charged me for a chandelier, of all things, that was never on the counter-- I never even looked at lighting of any type. I immediately turned around and went back in the store-- probably 3 minutes had gone by since I left. She actually said to me, "Oh, you didn't buy a chandelier??" I was furious. I have got to believe this was done deliberately. Because I paid by debit, I have to wait 5 days before that money lands back in my account. Interestingly, she initially did not want to void it; rather, she wanted to put it in as a "return." I have to believe that helps the vendor in some way. So . . . watch them carefully, on all levels. They will cheat you if given half a chance. I have certainly made my last trip in there. read more

Disappointed, purchased a mirror from them and they offered to take off a lot in the beginning but the frame broke when we were hanging it. We could see where it was glued back together by someone before and they never disclosed this which is why I guess they took off a lot in the beginning. Very disappointed in this company and will never buy anything from this again. They would only offer to fix it and didn't offer to take off anymore. Not a good way to do business in my opinion. read more
