I am visiting my sister and had a very painful situation develop with an implant. Dr Hunts team got me right in and fixed the pain and problem. The whole experience was excellent. Dr. Hunt was extremely knowledgeable about my implant and immediately able to fix it. I highly recommend this practice! read more

Dr. Hunt and his staff are all very professional, caring, and do an excellent job. I had to get a tooth pulled and they were easy to get in to, made me feel cared for, and the whole process was professional, clean, and efficient. The dental hygienist Robin did an excellent job cleaning my teeth. read more

i was in need of a veneer replaement.the staff was kind and when i needed an implant dentist i went to nw implant and surgi center.we had a long talk about saving the tooth and he sent me to see dr. hunt.since he had been great in the past appointment and he was very good and the refferal from my other dentist i felt like going to see dr.hunt would be my best choice. written by nancy-kate cassatt. read more

Awesome dental office! My husband and I just moved to Florence. I was experiencing severe tooth pain and they saw me same day. I scheduled a procedure for the next week, but my problem worsened. They got me in first thing the next morning. Staff and providers are all really nice and professional. read more

I have never done a review before - but I felt that this was TOO important - Not to share! I have spent the past decade afraid or ashamed to go to the dentist after many failed painful and costly experiences! After a dental emergency where I called 8 different dentists in the Newport-to Florence area only 1 location talked to me like a human and got me in that day! I understand covid has put a new spin on dental appointments but the relief of having a place acknowledge the severity and with every kindness get me in same day was so relieving I cried! The amazing service did not stop there- I've now had 3 visits and I can not even compare the compassion ,gentleness and eagerness to truly help without all the costly in betweens and in a judgement free environment to any where else! I am on a journey to get back my self confidence and I wouldn't want to to it at any other location! I haven't seen myself smile with an actual pretty smile in a decade and they accomplished that instantly! So kind, so gentle, so understanding, and really just want you to feel your best!!!! I am so thankful for them! I will always recommend this place especially to those who are embarrassed or afraid - this is 100% the place for you!!!! read more

I had work done here (root canal) which ended up having to be re-done by an endodontist along with a new crown that they had not properly re-set and cracked. Worst part is that when I returned with a problem tooth, I got a "don't really care" attitude from the receptionist who wanted to charge me full price again. Pretty sad to see that they don't stand by their work. read more

I had a small resin based composite made to cover an area that over time had lost enamel. The work was done quickly and painlessly. The composite was an excellent match to the original tooth in both tone and texture and looks very nice. I have had this kind of work done at another office in the past and the color and texture didn't match, so I appreciate the skill and craftsmanship that went into the work. Needed to have a crown done and Dr. Hunt was able to do the prep work and install the crown in one day. No need for a temporary and then waiting for a lab to make it. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The appt. was as good as a trip to the dentist can be. Highly recommend Hunt Family Dentistry to anybody in the Florence area read more

wow...so impressed...doc had such skills to make the numbing feel like nothing at all....very slow and gentle...he seems to really care for his patients.....easy going.....my new composite...looks 100 times better than the tooth I had......i am so impressed.....his aid....was so kind and caring...and funny...it made it an easy experience....i would highly recomend...the soft cowboy music a plus......lisa read more

Went for a front tooth crown and it was done poorly, I am not a regular patient of this practice and it felt as though they rushed me in and out and didn't take time to make sure the appearance of the replaced tooth matched up to the other front tooth, it doesn't look good and it is misshaped. I was referred to this practice by word of mouth but I will be much more careful the next time I hire a dentist read more

Call to schedule an appointment today! Dr. Scott Roberts, an oral sugeon practicing in Coos Bay, practices out of this office once a month for implant consults and extensive oral surgery cases such as impacted third molar removal.

History

Established in 1952.

Thomas M. Hunt started practicing dentisry in Florence in 1952. His oldest son, Thomas J. Hunt, joined him in practice in 1976 and still practicing today with over 35 years of experience. Daren T. Hunt, recently joined the practice. He is the Grandson of Thomas M. and Son of Thomas J. They are enjoying practicing together and have a great combination experience and the newest techniques.

Thomas J. Hunt graduated from University of Oregon Dental School with honors in 1976 and has been practicing in Florence ever since. He is known for his gentle manner, interest in new (but proven) dental technology, and love of the Oregon Ducks. Daren T. Hunt, DMD Graduated from Oregon Health and Science University Dental School in 2014 and joined his father's practice. He enjoys getting to know her patients and loves doing anything outdoors.

Last month, one of my right top molar teeth was hurting from having a few times fillings years ago, so the dentist checked it and said that it might be cracked, so he recommended we do a crown. And here is where my nightmare began... when my crown was placed "by his assistant"; it was too long and so bite was misaligned. The dentist said that the "easiest" way to fix this was to adjust some of my GOOD tooth right across from the crown. Right then, when he said that, I wasn't sure if it was the right way to do, so I asked him again to make sure if it was. He said "yes" without discussing risks, benefits or alternatives. The practice seemed to be busy that day and I felt that I was not being given their full attention and my concerns weren't being addressed. I let him do it as I TRUSTED him and believed he knew what he was doing. During that time while he was drilling my good tooth, when he drilled the 1st time, my top and bottom were still too far from closing completely, so he did the 2nd time, I wasn't still able to close, and again the 3rd time, I started feeling some sensitive pain on the tooth. IT was even more painful in the 4th time, so I was squeezing my eyes closed, clenching my hands, and my whole body was tight. When he finished drilling my tooth, I was able to close my top and bottom teeth completely. Then he left the room and let his assistant put in and glue the crown. She was rough and seemed to ignore that she was hurting my gums. The dentist never came back to check on me after the procedure. After I got home, I kept thinking and wasn't sure of what the dentist did was right. In the evening on the same day, I had dinner and tried to avoid chewing on my new crown, but I felt uncomfortable when I drank cold water as I felt it was very sensitive. At that time, I did not think much of it until the tooth got more sensitive when I brushed my teeth. Then I tested the tooth by rubbing it with my finger and it scared the shit out of me as made me realize the dentist ruined my good tooth. So I talked with my husband and told him everything that happened and what the dentist did. My husband suggested me to give it a few days and if the tooth was still sensitive then we would call and make an appointment with the dentist and office manager. During those 4-5 days, my tooth wasn't get any better. I could not drink nor chew cold food and I could not brush on the tooth. Five days later, my husband and I had a meeting with the dentist and the office manager. We told them the issue with my tooth and asked him why he did not adjust the crown, but instead "messed up" good tooth. He explained that the crown was high polish and it was "easier" to adjust the good tooth ..... The dentist offered to fix my damaged tooth, but I refused because I had lost faith in his attention to detail and professional demeanor. So they agreed to be responsible to pay for "all the cost" of the repair on the "messed up" good tooth. They repeatedly said they would "stand behind" their work and make things right. So my husband and I decided to go to another dentist in different town as we thought it would be better not to go to any dentist within this small town. The second dentist worked on my tooth and he did excellent work. He took special care with me and my tooth. He and his staff spent their time reassuring me and explaining every step of their care. After my tooth was no longer sensitive, we submitted an invoice to the Hunt Family Dentistry, but they reneged by saying that: "the dentist did not feel he needed to pay for anything", much less than our complete invoice. After some negotiating, they agreed to only pay us back for the "out of pocket" cost of the crown and our travel. After all that has happened, I have felt a deep betrayal. I feel victimized by the Hunt Family Dentistry. The worst part was that the dentist and assistant's poor communication and lack of professional care was profoundly hurtful. They did not explain nor pay any attention to my reaction during the procedure. This incident has given me nightmares and has also ruined my mental health. It was the most devastating and terrifying experience of my life. This has made me scared to go to any dentists. read more

I have been using Hunt Family Dentistry for over 30 years. Their hygienist is thorough yet GENTLE. The office also offers a discount if one pays at the time of service. I have no dental insurance so I really appreciate that option. I also love hearing my neighbor kids telling me how much they like Dr. Hunt and how " he does not even care if we cry, he said lots of kids cry a little. It will be ok. Now we don't even cry when we go there. " read more
