This is a very personal and tough review to write because I'm in the medical field (have been for…read moreover 30 years), so I know how tough it can be to care for patients, especially during the time of Covid-19. But even so, there needs to be some "basic" expectations met when being cared for at a healthcare facility such as The Regency. My mother had a horrible fall at home and broke bones in both her legs. Add to this that she has a degenerative muscle wasting disease that limits her mobility, and you've got a recipe for problems (which is why we chose a care facility - The Regency - close to her home for rehabbing before returning her home). Our family's expectations were that they would do physical therapy, prevent further problems from developing, treat her with respect and compassion, and be honest about their care and her progress. None of these things occurred at all... Let's start with these items and where The Regency failed with all of them: 1. Physical Therapy: initially this started out okay, but with the limited mobility that is my mother's baseline, they initially tried to over work her and actually caused more pain. Then, later, they claimed that she and/or we were refusing therapy (not true). Our expectations were that they'd do PT appropriate for each patient. Even later, they had a shortage of staff and PT was rarely done, meaning her rehab had basically stopped. 2. Preventing further problems: Because they began to rarely release her from bed, she developed bed sores (2 of them) near her coccyx. These were finally reported to us and we asked to know what was being done. Barrier cream and frequent turning, we were told. But when I spoke to my mother (we did get her a cell phone so she could call us), she said that she often had to call and asked to be turned because they would either forget or claimed they were too busy. Turning with two broken legs also caused some pain so she would ask for some pain medicine. Again, frequently this would take hours to arrive or not at all, meaning that I or my father would have to call the charge nurse and ask what was going on. Which led to our third problem... 3. Treat with respect and compassion: Some of the staff were moderately ok with care. But many of the nurses were either dismissive or downright mean (Two of them actually yelled at my mother because of her calling and reporting problems to me and my father). Really? Yelling at an old lady with two broken legs? 4. Honesty about care and progress: We had an initial call with the staff which sounded promising and upbeat about the third day my mother arrived. But this was a smokescreen for what truly goes on behind these doors. Call bells going unanswered, pain being left untreated, physical therapy being delayed or not done at all, bed sores developing due to inept care, and a lack of communication about what was really going on all led us to remove my mother from this Hell and back home with in-home care. It is truly sad how horrific the care was here. They sound all sugar and spice and everything nice on the phone. But do not be fooled. This place may be a death sentence for your loved ones if left in here and they are immobile or nearly immobile. Update: My mother is home with round the clock in-home care and she's doing much better. Bed sores have healed, pain is under control, and she gets out of bed twice daily. She is also having PT two to three times a week.

My dad died from a bed sore that was left untreated for months. Corey the head nurse/accountant stated after a month the bed sore looked like it needed medical attention. Prior to this they tried to put my father on hospice because they felt like they couldn't help him. Rather they didn't want to. The nurses are never around the staff is lazy and half the time you have to assist the residents yourself. They give the patients food away. Once in awhile we would get my dad a healthy meal for letter and it would be gone! They never ever informed us of my father's falls or injuries. The old accounting manager (no longer there shocker) also admitted to double billing. He admitted to billing people and any private insurance as well as state medical. Then the very elderly he said he would tell them just don't pay it if you have no assists. Thank goodness this is all recorded. I could go on and on but all you need to do is look on Yelp and Facebook Reviews. Not to mention giving peoples rooms away and moving their things in hopes they don't ever come back. Please don't send anyone here! As far as the rooms go, they added a dying man into my father's room hoping my dad wouldn't make it out of the hospital the first time. The man ending up dying that made my father's PTSD so much worse. The guy in his room had 5 days to live he was in a diaper and my husband had to carry him to the bathroom because no staff was available. He saw a elderly lady in a wheelchair and she asked if he needed help? My husband said he was looking for a nurse, "her response, good luck!" Not to mention the food they serve cold food and their is a live living pig in the dining area. I asked the cook why is this poor pig inside and not in a barn where he belongs? His response, don't ask me this whole place is messed up. I pray for any person left their to live. In closing they met my father's oxygen machine run out of distilled water five times in the days I went to visit. I had to literally show them how to do their job! These are the last people I would ever send anyone I cared about to. Negative 100 stars!

If you want them to sneak there way in by manipulating the situation and moving into her place while you are unaware and spending her money and drinking right Al. Then tell you they are doing everything they can to keep a record of anyone who gives her alcohol or messes with her medication, so the state will help her get into a permanent stable residence. Lying straight to your face. Management lying and saying they are fired for moving in, but you find out differently, then two weeks later she dies. Then yes by all means hire these people. The management only cares about their reputation and paycheck and the caregivers can't hardly take care of themselves, most are I'll equipped or have substance abuse problems themselves and shouldn't be caregivers to very the elderly with major health issues and substance abuse problems

My mother has had issues with her since the day she arrived in June of 2024. On a resent outing for the residents, they arrived at the store for shopping and they gave them one hour. Most were done in 30 minutes and requested to leave. Without checking on other residents they decided to leave and bring another group back. My mother was in the checkout line and noticed that they left her. She sat in the cold for 30 minutes before they showed up with another group and had to wait until they were done. When she got back they tried to claim that they looked for her and couldn't find her and said that they didn't leave her because of another group. The office staff did nothing and my sister made an appointment to discuss the matter. Now they changed the policy to take an assistant to stay with the residents and keep a list of who's on the transportation vehicles. Why wasn't this in place before? My mother is 94 years old with a walker. We are now taking her out of this facility to live with us in another state. We will send a formal letter to the state of Oregon about this situation.

They took wonderful care of her from April until she passed away. From giving her meds during the day to checking on her at night, they were patient and well trained. I did a crazy number of tours, of all the different memory care facilities in Eugene. And I have to…read moresay, Quail Crest is up near the very top. Elder Health and Living, Chateau Gardens, and Waterford Grand, are the other top places. But Quail Crest is the place I picked. One thing you want to check, is if the facility has medicare rollover. Which means once the resident runs out of money, will the facility allow the resident to remain? Quail Crest does allow this. Waterford Grand does not. Quail Crest has these individual "houses" where the residents live. And they have a shared "backyard", that all the residents from the different houses can all access. It has a BBQ, easy to walk paths, beautiful gardens, and many plants. And in this shared yard, they can interact with residents from different cottages. The facility very clean, but it doesn't feel like a hospital. They have a lot of activities, and things for the residents to do. We had a few minor bumps in the first few months, but that was during 2020, and they had a lot of staff turnover. But since then, they seem to have have gotten things sorted out. Many of the staff who was working there, were willing to give out their cel phone numbers, so you could call or text, and get updates on how things were going. It is a very expensive facility, so that would be one of the downsides. But when talking about caring for a loved-one, you want the best for them.

I was really looking forward to added support as I knew our journey ahead was going to be challenging. Unfortunately, not even Lumina knows what is meant by palliative care. Each time we had a need, I would contact them and they'd say, "oh we don't do that. But call us we are here to help 24/7." Problem was they could not define what it was they were there to help with. They also kept referring to my mom as being in "hospice" and we are not there yet, that's why we signed up for "Palliative" care. Honestly during the month we worked with them trying to figure out what they could do for us- the only thing I figured out was that they were supposed to keep us from using the ER for services. So at this point "palliative " care must mean, "make sure we keep that person out of the hospital/ER" aka cut costs so they get paid. Very disappointed!

She was prompt and friendly and she always followed up which was a huge change compared to other people i had worked with. We had been struggling to find the best placement for my father on and off for a couple of years (even with the help of hospital social workers) which had been extremely difficult because I live across the country. Willow's help was invaluable in finding him a good home. She was persistent, kind, and very effective at communicating with the people at assisted living facilities. Additionally she was very fast to respond to text messages and emails which was a godsend given that many places I had been working with would only communicate over the phone or via fax. I wish we had found Willow long ago, other corporate placement agencies simply cannot do what she can do. Don't waste your time with anyone else!
