If I could give him a negative 5 stars, I would! We hired Hunter in February to cut down some trees on our property. He gave us a fair estimate and started the job three days later. So far, so good. Then I made the unpardonable sin of paying before the job was completed. It was Friday afternoon and everybody likes to get paid before the weekend. I wanted to be a nice guy so even though there was still a big pile of logs sitting on my property, I paid him. Big mistake. that was the last time I saw him. That was over 2 months ago. Punctual by 8am; Hired since quote was fair for all work they promised they would do; Seemingly personable, sincere owner at first quote meet Not satisfied: Out of 3 trees to be worked on, one of the trees they cut was the wrong one They damaged corner of our deck by tree trunk drop Cracked couple of walking pavers Cracked rain barrel Lack of respect of the property Gist: Supposed to shred the trimmed branches which they did for some of it, and the cut trees/trunks were supposed to be chipped so that they don't have to load, transport & dispose off, which we could use for landscaping. Instead they left some cut branches without shredding and all the cut tree trunks (some almost 10 to 12' long) left in place where it fell. Being senior citizens found it impossible to move some of them. During work when it became quiet around noon we assumed they had left for lunch. They never showed up again. Never the owner conducted a customary walk-through to inspect & ensure work was completed. In essence they left without a word though emailed us later for the payment. We emailed the owner with our dissatisfaction, as to the mistakes & unprofessional work. It has been almost a month but never received a response & absolutely no apologies for the damages, just silence. Takeaway: Don't just trust them blindly on what was promised at quote time. Our mistake was although we got a rough quote in writing, we didn't insist on writing down everything in detail to know exactly what they were going to do & how! Make sure you see if applicable a tree cutting permit/license & to see Insurance coverage in case of any accidents. Make sure to mark all trees to be worked on beforehand without believing everything said at the estimate time. If they do a shoddy or unprofessional job, post a just review but if a very serious breach you may also contact Better Business Bureau so others could be helped especially if they are senior citizens or ladies as a recourse. We had a diseased tree that fell down on our property & the one next to it was also diseased so we needed to get it down ASAP before it fell down & damaged our property. We had two very large oaks that had died. One was directly beside the street with high power lines on the other side of it. Hunter agreed to take down and remove both trees with a very fair offer. He requested I have the power company drop their lines. The power company was unable to drop the lines due to the extremely high power carried, but they said they would cut down one of the two oaks since it leaned toward the lines. Hunter agreed to take the tree down without the power drop, and he would remove the tree and debris from the tree the power company would cut. In the process they determined another tall tree beside the road was also dying, and they agreed to remove it, also. Hunter's team was most impressive with their expertise and knowledge. They provided the required tall crane, flag men for the road and all other required equipment. We couldn't be more pleased with what they accomplished and the manner in which it was done. The crew arrived 30 minutes before the appointed time of 8 AM to survey the situation for removing a GIANT oak tree that is next to the old farmhouse we just bought. Some of the limbs were dead and directly above the roof of the house. On initial inspection a few weeks ago, we had collectively decided that the tree had to come down because it was too big, and too close to the house. With extreme weather, ice storms, etc. it was a hazard. The crew of seasoned arborists stood around looking at this magnificent old tree (which my wife and I were very reluctant to cut down) and they offered an alternative. They suggested cutting away all of the dead limbs and all of the living ones that were a threat to the house and see how it looked--then we would decide. Well, they did just that, and the tree looked great, and it is still standing majestically in our yard. The guys thoroughly cleaned up after themselves and made us a pile of firewood and mulch.
