They removed 2 trees on the side of my property each 100 feet. They couldn't do a bucket so an expert had to climb. It was amazing to watch they didn't damage anything , they took everything away and cleaned up . They even repaired our lawn where they had to drive a bobcat to pick up the large pieces . They removed a huge oak tree that was hollow and rotting inside, and headed toward my house or a neighbor's. A swat team of 10 workers in 6 vehicles using a 35 ton crane, bob cat, shredder, chainsaws made quick work of removal. they used the crane to lift sections up and out to the street for disassembly. very impressive. they cleaned up with rakes and blowers and our 3 lane street was never completely blocked to traffic up into our cul de sac. highly recommend. (and they were priced about 2/3 the quote from our regular maintenance arborists). read more

The first thing I noticed (and liked) about Arbormax was the line on their website: "Four Generations of Hugging and Caring for Trees". These folks aren't just "tree cutters". Their list of certifications and training was as impressive as their equipment inventory. They know about trees, not just how to cut one down. In fact, in my first experience with them, the estimator said they'd do the job, but that it didn't look like I really needed the tree(s) removed. Imagine a business with that kind of honesty. So, when I did need help this month...a huge pine gave in to high winds, taking out two sections of two different neighbors' fences...I didn't bother calling anyone else. With the storm's widespread damage, I was surprised to get right through - to a human, not a recording. While their crews were concentrating first on calls where homes were damaged, an appointment was set for just after Christmas weekend. My next surprise - the fellow who came out was the company's owner. With his knowledge about insurance companies (ick), and family budgets, he was still able to offer a price far lower than I expected. We agreed on a hand-shake (no forms to fill out or approval to wait for), and within half an hour, saws were buzzing, trunk sections were removed, branches were picked up and cleared. Today, one of the neighbors phoned to thank me for the way things were handled, and said she'd asked the Arbormax crew for a business card so she could schedule some projects of her own! Wow. First off I have to say that I'm not easily impressed but Arbormax blew me away. I called to request an estimate and they were immediately upfront with the fact that they were booked out for 3 weeks. Not exactly what you want to hear when there's tree hanging over your house, dropping branches and hurricane Matthew on the way but I appreciated the candidness. I eventually settled on another tree service but they stopped returning my calls after the storm. Fortunately for me, Arbormax kept their promise and eventually scheduled an appointment. The tree that needed to be removed was perfectly placed in the worst place possible. It was a large oak between two 2 story houses with long branches hanging over each house. I had estimates ranging from $3,500 to $9,000 because other companies had to rent a crane from a third party. I also had one company tell me that they wouldn't even touch the tree because of its location. Arbormax came back with a significantly lower price! Fast forward to this morning. Trucks, heavy lifting equipment, wood chipper and a badass crane and crew. These guys pulled right up, set up the crane and got to work. The next thing I know, there's the top part of the tree that appeared to be standing in the middle of the street. Long story short, they answer their phone, they call you back when they say they will, the were cheaper than any other company, they were fast, they cleaned up and they were all friendly. Get other estimates but DO NOT commit to any other service until you speak with Arbormax. I will definitely use them in the future. read more

I recently had Arbormax remove a large pine tree from my front yard. Their quote was lower than about five other tree companies I consulted. The work was done well-- no complaints there. Three stars because of the following issues: -- The stump grinding took over a week and 3 missed appointments before it was completed. During this time, nobody communicated with me about why the stump grinding was delayed. --During the tree removal, a spot of my lawn about 6 feet square was destroyed, with several tree branches about 5 inches in diameter left sticking out of the ground and embedded so deeply into the ground that I can't remove them. That makes pushing my lawn mower over this area nearly impossible. It might be common for grass to be messed up during a large tree removal (I don't know), but I was not told anything about this before the work was done. Afterwards, the tree guy said, "Oh, we messed up your grass a little bit over there." It would have been nice to know about this ahead of time rather than be unpleasantly surprised by it after the fact. --Several 6-inch deep "Bobcat" tracks were left in my lawn. Again, maybe unavoidable considering the job. But this type of thing should be communicated to the customer beforehand. All in all, fair pricing but poor communication. If you use them for large tree removal, I recommend asking a lot of questions and being clear about what part of your yard they may mess up. read more

Price checked 8 tree service companies in Raleigh and ArborMax was one of the cheapest for tree removal, and they use a large truck so they don't have to drive in yards. After they were finished, there were no limbs left over on the ground, and they didn't harm the flowers that were below the tree. I highly recommend their services. read more

I spent 3 days trying to get a quote from arbormax because a storm knocked down a massive tree in my yard and damaged my neighbor's property. They claim to be open 24/7 on their website. I called multiple times over two days, was only able to get through to a person once. They said I should expect a call and visit from someone that day to get a quote. I never heard from anyone again after that. I went with another local company that responded to me immediately and gave me a same day quote. read more

I have used Arbormax three times so far. They are MY Tree specialists. The first job was felling 27 massive and gnarly pines, sweet gums and one ginormous poplar taken down by Crane so as to not disturb our Ham Radio Tower (it was totally unscathed). This company has talent when it comes to felling trees. The second job was small, it being only one tree, but it was V-E-R-Y large and tall, and in between two houses!!! They carefully removed a section of my wood fence so it had not chance of getting damaged, and it too was a 'crane job' to remove. The third and last (so far) job is a simple Peach tree that has seen it's last days and Arbormax did as great a job on one little tree as it did on 27 huge trees. I have used Arbormax in the past for several years and they had provided professional service at that time. I had called them this year to come to do another job for me and unfortunately have come to discover that the company's professionalism has waned to be less than professional. Upon having my called returned to setup an appointment, I was then contacted again the day of my appointment that they had encountered "technical issues" and needed to reschedule. I agreed to the new appointment date and the estimator came on the rescheduled date to assess the tree. The estimator told me the estimate would be emailed to me. After waiting a week, I reached out to the company via their website on two separate occasions with requests to have the quote sent to me. I never received a response from either of my requests. Though this company boasts of being the cheapest in their field, what good is it if they're unresponsive and ignore their customers? read more

During the last ice storm nightmare, we had some real damage to trees that fell and destroyed fences and ended up on various neighbors' properties. From branches caught up in higher trees to a tree that split in half at the base, it was a mess. I called Tim at Arbormax right after it all happened, while the property was still covered with snow and ice. I hoped to get on his schedule as soon as possible. Arbormax made it out that same day. Unreal how hard, fast and efficiently they work. Until then, they had trimmed and saved our oldest, most prized trees. But now, in an emergency, they were there regardless of working conditions. They brought a team, trucks and equipment and took care of all the damage. They did such a great job that a number of my neighbors engaged them for future work there on the spot. Like friends, it's one thing to be there when everything is alright, but another when they're there unconditionally when stuff hits the fan. And Arbormax is certainly there for you no matter what. I cannot say enough about this wonderful company. We had them trim a bunch of very large limbs from some pretty tall trees in our yard. Their estimate was literally HALF the cost of another companies. They were polite, professional, and prompt. The only tiny negative is that they are not as responsive via email, by phone is by far the best way to reach them. Our neighbors two doors down hired Arbormax for a large tree removal in their yard. They came onto on our property without permission. Were told several times their equipment was on our newly replaced water pipe and continued anyway. 2 of the 3 plumbers called said we have pipe damage. We have in writing that they would pay for the damage. This happened in Jan and they are still not paying for the damage. Tim the owner is non-responsive or his voicemail is full. We asked for them to use their insurance and they did not want to. We've called and emailed multiple times to get this finally resolved with again no response. None of this was our fault, we have in writing their promise to fix any issues, and it has now been 7 months with still no response and an outstanding bill in our name. Don't trust this company at all and make sure you get the actual insurance before you start work. read more

The guy who did the estimate even pointed out an issue with a very close neighbors tree that we didn't even know about that could have potentially caused lots of damage to our house. These guys are like a well oiled military machine! We had a 100' pine on our roof from Hurricane Matthew and our insurance company recommended this company! Jack and his crew were nothing short of professional and did an incredible job of removing the tree from our roof with no further damage! They made a very difficult job look simple. Our normal tree company, who we have used for 20 years admitted that it was a job best left to someone who had done this before and Arbormax lived up to their outstanding reputation!!! Excellent job!! We had some scheduling conflicts and Arbormax was quick to call me and figure out how we could meet in the middle. My original estimate promised five tall pine trees removed from my back yard with pruning a couple of oaks to get limbs away from the house. With the crane and team for half day, they removed seven pines along with the pruning for the same price. These guys are professional and safe. ArborMax performed major tree work in our neighborhood - two days worth - with a lot of heavy equipment. We live in a wooded neighborhood and have seen a lot of tree work. We have never seen the oil left on the road that ArborMax left. Either motor oil or hydraulic oil that was leaked or spilled and then forced into the road surface by the tires of all of the equipment. It's been a week and the smell is still evident. When it comes to asphalt, oil products are a solvent and will eat at the road surface and shorten its life. The city was informed and they came out to look at the road, told the tree folks how to clean it and then left. It will not be able to be cleaned and the company should be forced to repair its equipment before ruining another road. read more

I have been experiencing the same issues that the last few reviews have posted. It took over 2 months for Arbormax to show up and remove several trees from my yard. During the removal the wood chipper broke 4 times in the morning before it finally was unusable by the crew around 1p. The rest of the day they had to remove large sections of tree trunks by hand into multiple trucks. I felt really bad for the crew. They worked really hard to get everything done, no complaints there. Now, they've rescheduled several times for the stump grinding, claiming the stump grinder is broken, which from the other reviews sounds like either it is constantly breaking or a running excuse for poor scheduling even before the hurricanes hit. They didn't even call the last scheduled date to tell me the stump grinder was still broken. THEY JUST NEVER SHOWED UP! I had to call mid day to ask if they were still coming and had to wait for a call back after leaving a message. I'm now STILL waiting for another rescheduled date. I was also told a week ago management would give me a call when I requested it and still no call. Arbormax requests full payment when the trees are cut and leave you hanging for the stump removal to finish the job even though you've paid in full. Terrible experience. Do yourself a favor, save yourself from Arbormax's excuses and pay a little more with a company that will show up when scheduled, uses functional equipment, and won't take 3 months to complete a 2 day job in full. read more
