Everything I said is 100% true and I have messages from them that prove it. Also, their response claims that they have no record of the theft incident, but my pictures include their written response to the incident, and a picture of the thief (allentuck employee,) so they are either lying or totally incompetent. I have also been by their business on Travillah multiple times because I have a property on the very next street in Mount Prospect. It is also 100% true that their employee Maria tried to sell us her son's landscaping company to do our backyard. We are an international family and speak Spanish so this is not a case of language barrier. I am no longer even interested in being compensated for the stolen item, I only hope my neighbors don't fall victim to this company. I honestly can't believe they are dragging their name through the mud because they were too cheap pay for the theft (under $100.) There are also 2 witnesses of the theft, and video. It was one of those situations where we had the lights off inside and there were lights outside so the thief apparently couldn't see us standing in the window directly in front them. We even waited to see if they would get a conscience and return the item because we previously had a good relationship with the employees who share our heritage. I honestly hope legal action is perused so this can gain more publicity. What the employee didn't a crime, and the company response is unacceptable and makes them an accomplice.

Emerald Landscaping completed gutter drainage work for our home in the Fall of 2025. At the time…read moreof completion, the work seemed to be completed up to specifications. Unfortunately, at the start of summer 2026 it was clear that the drains could not handle heavier summer rains. One of the drains had water gushing out of the cleanup valve (photo). The follow-up communication with Emerald was underwhelming. They declined to help me troubleshoot the issue unless I paid a $98 site visit fee. Instead, they proposed additional work to rectify the issue without acknowledging that the work was not completed correctly in the first place. Their "proposal" is comical- it looks like something my 5 year old would draw (photo). I've since redone the work myself with a drain that is properly sloped. I've also included photos of a leaky downspout they would not acknowledge along with an upgrade I did myself with $50 in parts from Home Depot.

Any time I've had any sort of question about lawn care, they've made themselves available in a timely manner. They've kept their prices consistent even as inflation has risen. Over the years I've used them for lawn aeration, reseeding and the usual maintenance stuff. They've sharpened blades for me, given me free seeds and all sorts of goodies free of charge. And most of all, my lawn shows their work. I'm not sure why there are negative reviews here, as I can only speak to my own experience. They've been great and I'll stick with them.

I have worked in landscaping and customer service for approximately 25 years. Chesapeake provided me with an extraordinarily expensive proposal, so before committing, I asked detailed questions about the treatments, their necessity, and whether the program could be customized to my property's actual needs. Rather than making me comfortable with a substantial investment, the communication became increasingly rigid and impersonal. Chesapeake prefers communicating by email rather than phone. Ironically, when the process resulted in numerous emails, I was then criticized for the number of emails I had sent--including the fact that some were sent at night and on weekends, despite my never requesting or expecting responses outside business hours. A simple 10-15 minute phone conversation could likely have resolved most of these questions. What ultimately earned the one-star review was the final response I received. My reasonable questions were characterized as "fighting [their] process every step of the way." I was also told that, while we had been corresponding, they had onboarded 79 other clients and needed to allocate their time to customers who were "moving forward." That response told me everything I needed to know. I understand that every business has a process, and every prospective customer will not be a good fit. There is nothing wrong with politely declining someone's business. But customers considering a significant expenditure should be able to ask questions without being made to feel that they are wasting the company's time because other customers simply signed up. I also operate a landscaping business and personally evaluate contractors before recommending them to my own longtime clientele or considering using them as subcontractors. Their treatment of my customers would ultimately reflect upon me. Based upon this experience, Chesapeake is not a company I would feel comfortable placing between myself and my clients. Perhaps their lawn treatments produce excellent results--I never reached the point of hiring them, so I cannot fairly review the quality of their lawn work. What I can review is my direct experience with their sales process and customer communication, and unfortunately it was among the most impersonal and dismissive experiences I have encountered in this industry. For customers who simply want to accept the prescribed program without much discussion, Chesapeake may be a perfectly good fit. If you value personalized communication, want to ask detailed questions, or expect a collaborative approach to what is being applied to your property, my experience suggests looking elsewhere.

The lot is sloped and there are several stone retaining walls and stairs to navigate. It isn't an easy property to work with. Demolition had to be done by hand. They did a great job. The crew showed up everyday at 7:30am. The site was organized and anytime I needed to get out of my driveway, they always accommodated me. Coordination with our lighting and irrigation contractor was seamless. When I decided I didn't like the brick edging on the new flagstone path, the price to re-do it in flagstone was more than fair. We are really glad our landscape designer, Greenhart Designs recommended them.
