Allentuck does a poor job at maintaining your lawn. They are extremely unresponsive and have a antiquated billing system that can lead to you being overcharged. I would advise not use Allentuck's services as they are overpriced, underperform, and don't communicate with their customers well. read more

They were scheduled to do work on a given day recently we had waited over a month for. Then on the day, they simply did not show up. Nobody called to reschedule or alert us to the date change. I called and they didn't answer the phone. I received an email stating it was a "miscommunication" (they had clearly written me that the work would be done on XX date over a month earlier), and telling me they would "try" to reschedule for the first week in August. A bad week for us. Lots of back and forth later (because they never answer the phone) and then Tanya tells me she can't "verify" that I was told the work would be done on XX date. This despite that I had emailed her the correspondence. They also refused to reimburse us anything for our inconvenience. Talk about no ownership. They used to do good work but have sadly gone downhill. read more

I hired Allentuck Landscaping to perform some grading landscaping at my new home in Takoma Park. The salesman easily evaluated my needs and quickly provided a detailed cost estimate. I was told in August that I may not have the work completed until November due to their workload. As this was not an emergency, I was ok with the quoted timeframe. So far, so good. I had another landscaper for years who cost a lot and did less and less as years went by. Allentuck turns out less expensive with more service and more consistency. Final update! I am very pleased with the result. The work started as scheduled and was promptly completed. The team did exactly what I wanted. During the work they checked periodically with me to ensure that I got exactly what I had imagined. They willingly made a couple of adjustments that I requested during the work. I will scratch off my original experience as an unusual glitch in their process. Bruce followed up with me personally after the work. He really turned it around and showed his care for his customers and his company. Mistakes happen all the time, but people honestly taking responsibility for them, requesting a second chance and making the best of it, is more infrequent. That shows a lot of ethics and I put more value on that than the original mishap. I could not be happier with the result and I will not hesitate to work with them again. I would recommend Allentuck to any family member or friend. Contrary to a past review, I found their materials and workmanship to be of very high quality and at a reasonable cost. If cheap landscaping is what one is looking for, don't call Allentuck. Go to your local big box store, and do it yourself. Landscaping is not cheap. Allentucks crew worked for three and a half days under extream temperatures to get this job done. They did it right the first time. Bruce Allentuck came to my house immediately after the work was complete and made sure I was satisfied. Bruce stopped by to check on the work a second time, installed a soaker hose and again asked if I am happy. Who does that anymore? We unfortunately cannot leave a good review for Allentuck. Like most everyone, we are busy people and while we usually do our own work, we needed help getting things done. We wanted Allentuck to do our front garden beds, some tree work on maples that were too low/shading house, front walkway, and driveway work. Got our estimates and decided to start with the front garden beds. The estimate for this work was a whopping $2064.68 for two medium size beds. But I needed help so I saved up and when I had the money, they did the work. At first, I loved the way it looked. Then, the first sign of trouble came during some very windy days and 2 of the bushes blew over. Yes, short bushes literally just blew over and that is when I saw that the workers did not loosen the roots at all, but just dug a (shallow) hole and plopped the plant in. So we took the bushes, broke up the roots and then we saw more problems. They only dug a hole large enough to fit the plant in, no bigger. In addition, there was no more than 1" of mulch put down and probably less. Bottom line - do the work yourself or find another company. Really - $2,000 for this shoddy work seems like a rip-off to us. They basically pulled out some hostas (and some landed behind bushes), a couple of azaleas and some ground cover (horrid vinca is currently returning, as well as the creeping jenny). No work was done to amend the soil. Whatever bulbs they happened to dig up came up this spring in the oddest places because the workers just stuck the dirt containing bulbs anywhere. Nine plants died and the company offered to have the "crew" come out and replace them, but I decided to just take the replacements and do the work myself. I'm sure I just lost the guarantee on the plants by doing that too. Unfortunately, they did such a poor job the 1st time around, I didn't want them to come at all. DNA Tree Services fixed our maple problem. Very professional. Excellent job. And we will use others companies to do the walkway & driveway work we still need done. We suggest that you save your hard-earned dollars and find another company. As busy as we were, we could have done a much better job ourselves. Maybe we just had an unusually bad experience, but we will never use or recommend this company in the future. read more

Company did a great job on a landscaping project. The landscape planner spent a lot of time with us to find out what we did and didn't like, the sort of upkeep we were willing to do and making sure things would fit and work where planned. The work was done on time. We then had a drip irrigation system put in, which also was done promptly, and when some critter gnawed a couple of small holes in it, they came by promptly to fix it.
